  1. Hi. We are in Kailua on Oahu not the Big island. So it has been awhile since we have been to the Big island. Im sure you will have a great time. If you’re going to Oahu I have plenty of recommendations.

  3. I think I will full pay the ins I have 20 days from Sept 27th. Just don’t want any problem with us or family and a pre existing condition. Someone was saying just get insurance for the deposit amount now then when final payment bump up the coverage.
  4. I know there are no guarantees on landings but if the rule was no landings whatsoever that would be a big bummer. Our final payment date is at the end of May and are trying to decide when to get the insurance. Get it now or wait until the end of May. Our deposit is $25 each. Right now we have no pre-existing conditions but of something comes up we don’t want any limitation on coverage.
  5. The weather in Montréal and Quebec City has been perfect. So warm. Walking around Quebec City this afternoon it was packed. Seemed with whole city came out to enjoy the weather. we did the Quebec country side tour and really enjoyed it. The fall colors are so vibrant with very bright red colors. We went to a maple sugar place, a lake and a water fall. we had lunch in Aquamar kitchen. Highly recommend the avocado toast with shrimp. Everything we had was fresh, on the healthy side, well presented and creative. The crew are still wearing masks. Heard the last cruise had a covid outbreak for the reason. The cushiony chairs around the pool are very comfortable.
  6. We’re booked for Jan 2, 2025. If we can’t go on land wonder if that would be enable us to cancel with Viking or get a steep discount?
  7. For the first time that I can remember the Destinations staff did follow up like they said and called the room. Other cruise lines when there is an issue and one of the staff say they will look into what ever and will contact me it will never happen so that alone was very impressive. they wanted a form filled out requesting the credit for the removed included meal. I did that and turned in this morning. We will see. last night our first meal in the dining room. Very delicious meal. Have to say so far we are very impressed with the food. The crew so far seem to go above and beyond crew on other lines.
  8. O pre hotel in Montreal was nice. After receiving the email changing the boarding time from 11am to 2pm the hostess at the hotel said the bus to the ship would leave at noon. So much better than waiting until 2pm. Check in was not too bad maybe 10 people ahead of us. Security was a breeze. lunch was great. Food seemed of high quality and not the massive crowds like we experienced on Celebrity in June. So a smaller ship really elevates the experience. Not too happy after a great dinner in Red Ginger returned to our room to find a letter saying the expensive 8 hour excursion we booked for the 30th that included lunch no longer includes lunch. No offer of a little credit other than sorry. We think if lunch was included when we purchased the excursion it should be still included or a credit should be given. Also one of the ports was cancelled. No credit was given for the booked excursion until we went to the excursion desk and asked for it. The lady then gave us the credit. The credit should have been automatically given and if we did not ask we would have never received the credit.
  9. Went in June. Ship is tired looking with lots of very fogged windows that makes it really hard to see out of especially in Blu restaurant and the gym. The flooring around the pools are looking really bad. Cabin was beat looking with the bathroom draws not opening and a very leaking shower that dripped very loud that the room Seward kept a town on the ground to blunt the noise. The balcony was a rust fest and looked really dirty. The metal had a lot of holes in the ceiling of the balcony.

  12. After reading probably hundreds of posts the majority don’t seem happy with the quality and direction of the company. O seems very disorganized and not together as a company. The quality really does not appear to be there at all. I should have remembered if O has anything to do with NCL it’s not going to be good. Right now if they said you can cancel Fridays cruise and get a full refund and I could grab a Viking cruise I would defently do that. Many warning flags are going off at the same time. This really does seem to be starting off on the wrong foot especially with all the emails we have gotten from O of all the changes they are doing to something that has not started yet.
  13. Their website really promotes all inclusive then you see all these ridiculous up charges. You have to admit $320 for one meal on SS is ridiculous.
  14. Our first O cruise is Friday. We have made a very bad mistake after reading the above posts. My wife said stay with Viking but I said let’s give O a try. Now I’m never going to hear the end of this from her.

  16. We were at 11 now it’s 2 so I don’t know when the checkout time of our hotel is 11 or 12 so I have a couple hours of sitting around

  18. We booked a Tokyo cruise for Oct 1, 2024 a few weeks ago. We reserved all the shore excursions online for every port. Two of the excursions were with a few and the rest were included. I was checking online yesterday to review what we selected and one of the pay excursions was removed and the cruise calendar showed we had nothing booked for that day. There was no notification from SS of the cancelled excursion. So glad I checked and we rebooked for something else.
  19. When the excursion said full I was unable to reserve it or do anything with the excursion. On the waitlisted excursions I could still add our name to the waitlist.
  20. We book a cruise 13 months out in August and 2 tours are waitlisted. One is a walking tour so you would think they could add more people to that tour and one is a tour to a National park. I was talking with our SS rep and she said more than likely both tours will be worked out and she did not think we will have a problem. Another cruise we were holding with the same itinerary before we switched to this cruise was 19 months out and one of the included tours was already sold out and you could not book it. This particular tour is not offered on the 13 month out cruise we ended up booking.
  21. I relooked through the excursions for Oct 1, 2024 Tokyo round trip and I did not see any changes from the included and extra charge excursions that were offered a few weeks ago when we booked the cruise.
  22. Viking has really been a big step above Celebrity and we have enjoyed our 5 cruises with them. Our first Oceania and Silversea cruises are coming soon. We were really loyal to Celebrity and have done a lot of cruises with them in the past. We did an Alaska on the Solstice in June after being gone 6 years or so. We are thinking we might not be coming back especially after this latest round of cutbacks and extra charges. I think Celebrity is really making some bad decisions especially in their restaurants. The meals used to really set them apart from the competition. Not any more. we used to consider a lot of different cruise companies. Celebrity, Royal, Princess, HAL, NCL now with all the changes with the 5 lines mentioned. I don’t think barring some really unforeseen circumstance we will ever go back to one of them.
  23. We have love Viking and have our first Oceania and Silversea cruises coming up.
  24. I think I read for cruises such as ours that starts Sept 29th to Oct 14th will still only get one login.
