  1. Firemanbobswife!!! You got it, I'm a dog groomer!! :D

Thanks for all the info. The 3 to 6 months part is a bit if a bummer!! Makes it hard to book a cruise in a few weeks if all our money is in a holding pattern . Shoot.

I guess I will just hope I get the money back.

I didn't call carnival, figured that since I have a TA they won't really talk to me?? Maybe I will call just to see what happens.

  2. My sister and I are booked on a cruise for Feb 2nd ( We booked early saver)

Last evening her father in law passed away so, obviously she cannot make this cruise and I'm not going alone.

We did have travel insurance thru Allianz global

My TA says We will lose 50.00 non refundable deposit and the rest of the 200 dollar deposit carnival will put towards our next cruise. We plan to go later in the month if possible .

Questions... Am I gonna get my money back since it was not my father in law? Or am I gonna lose out on the entire cruise.

How do I even do this..

Anyone that's 'been here done that, ' I'd really like some advice from.:(

  3. In 2012 they let us take our water camera, in fact they sold disposable cameras there for people to use.

In 2013, they said no more cameras, and their package for One picture was over $25 dollars, we bought one of our daughter.

It is a great excursion, the picture we bought came on a "chip" and we printed as many as we wanted when we got home.

    Safe travels.

That's what I was thinking. When I was on a cruise in June I talked to a guy who did the dolphin swim and he was a photographer by trade and he was disappointed because wasn't allowed to take pictures of his little girl during the dolphin swim.

He said the ones to purchase were very expensive too.

I'm just not sure if I'm willing to pay for the swim and then pay more for photos of it.. That's a lot of cash..

  4. You cannot take photos. We did this excursion last year and it was AWESOME! The photos are very expensive. Best to go in with 1 or 2 others with your family and buy them on cd. There are free alcoholic drinks and food.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Well dang I am not sure I want to do this if I cannot take photos :(

  5. Ok.. I'm going back and forth on the whole dolphin encounter or dolphin swim.. But, I'd really hate to do either one if I cannot take photos.

Anyone know the 'rule' on that? In Dolphinaris or in Chankanaab? I'm going with my sister and we both will be doing the swim or encounter.. Can we take photos of each other?

  6. how much more? and remember there is a HUGE difference between an encounter and the royal swim.

You can always get the money off the sign and sail card at any of the kiosks

this helps-= i have been looking all over to get a feel of the pricing-- did you haggle some?

Yeah you are right, I can always pull the money out somewhere. I'm not a big drinker so I won't use if that way..

The total thru Cozumelinsider is 119.20 when you factor in the 20% off.

Who do I 'haggle with ? Do I call them and talk to them and see if they'd give it to me cheaper ?? I've never tried that..

  7. We booked direct with dolphindiscovery.com for the Royal Swim with dolphins.... much cheaper than through the cruise line. Just get a taxi to Chankanaab park - $15. We took a camera and got photos but they also record a video and take lots of photos for $$$ afterwards. :) I spent $160 there for photos and a DVD and my grandson left them in the taxi back to the ship  so for several reasons I will never forget that day. It was thrilling!

Oh no!! I'm sorry about that but it sounds like you had a great time.

I have some OBC which is why I was gonna book thru carnival .. But I may just find another way to burn it up.

  8. Please check cozumelinsider. Check the prices for what you are getting

A encounter is nothing more then getting in the water with dolphins

I am getting a royal swim, admittance to the park and a buffet luch for less then your encounter. The key there us booking early

Well, since it's less than 30 days it's a 20% discount. So it's a bit more than what I would be paying ... But it is a swim not an 'encounter'. Hummm decisions decisions.

Cozumelinsider!, thanks for the tip. I am going to check that out right now

  10. I asked this a while ago on the Cozumel board but got only a few answers and they were conflicting so I figured I'd try here.

I'm going on the Paradise next month ( February 2nd) and am looking into the dolphin encounter.

First, can you take your own camera and take pictures or do you have to buy theirs. I was told once while on my last cruise that they wouldn't let you bring your own camera, but on the Cozumel board some say you can bring your own and some don't (I have a Fuji underwater camera). I don't want to go if I can't take pictures .

Second, there are 2 dolphin encounters thru carnival. Dolphin encounter with sea lion show for 99.00 and dolphin encounter with lunch with unlimited food and drink for 89.00 .. Now, last time I was there the sea lion show was a free show anyone in the park could go to... Is this still the case? Cuz if it is, why would you pay more for that one than for the one that gives you food and drinks .. Couldn't you just go to the sea lion show on your own?

  11. A lot will depend on the reason you got the $100 OBC to begin with. If you got it from an old FCC, then no, you won't lose it. If you got it from a promotion and then switch to a different promotion using ES then you will lose the benefits that came with the earlier promotion and acquire the benefits of the new promotion.

Yep OBC is because of a promotion so I guess it's a wash

    cruise price only? not total.?

    The 598 is before taxes..

Now im really getting confused .. On fare viewer they have the 2 different prices but when you do a mock booking there is only the 518 price and I have a porthole and they are charging 4 bucks a day for the porthole, so basically I am better off with what I have now?? :(

  12. I am booked on a cruise and the price (for 2) is $598.00 and I have $100.00 OBC.

Now I see an 'unwrap your deal rate' of either 518.00 with 50 bucks OBC or 478.00 no OBC..

So, if I take the 478.00 rate do I then lose the &100.00 of OBC I already have and end up with 120.00 or do I get to keep the $100 I already have and end up with 220 in OBC. I will take it either way cuz it's an extra 20 bucks...

And, if I take the $518.00 with the 50 OBC it's actually a better rate cuz when basically my rate is $468.00 when you add in the OBC and since my cruise is paid for it's all basically gonna be OBC..

Ok, my head is spinning just saying all this..

  13. You can book your own swim experience, but will need to not tell them you are cruising with Carnival (pick the name of a big tourist hotel from your favorite travel web site); this will save you some $$

You can take your own photos, but not from very close. If you want good photos and video you will need to buy from them. :(

Oh thanks for the tip!! I did go on the dolphin discovery website and see the prices.. Now I just need to figure out if it's better to book thru them directly or thru carnival, and I have to figure out the difference between all the types of excursions.

  14. Im gonna be in Cozumel in February and am wondering a few things

Is it possible to book some kind of dolphin excursion thru the park or just thru the ship (were gonna be on the carnival paradise ) .

And, can you take your own pictures? I thought I heard you couldn't but I just saw someone's review and they said they didn't buy the photos but took so of their own??

    Thanks.

  15. Back in September my husband and I took a cruise on the MSC Divina and We are frequent Carnival cruisers!

We did NOT like MSC at all. The food was terrible, the buffet was a little better than the MDR (which is odd) but the servings were so small that you had to order 2 meals every night, the deserts were not yummy at all.(severe lack of anything chocolate )

You were right about the cabin steward. We did meet him once but that was the only time we saw him.

The ship was beautiful but honestly the layout confused me. The life boats were on the deck that was basically the main drag, so you couldn't walk outside or even look outside .

The shows. Were AWESOME!!!!! I gotta admit they were excellent. No other ship I've been on has shows that good.

But the ship was really BORING!!! No excitement on the lido deck.. The trivia was dull.. It was just a boring ship.

And when they had the cruise critic get together the cruise director was there. He was saying he couldn't understand the negative reviews and pretty much made it clear that they had no plans to change the ship to be more 'American' , they like the European style cruising .. I obviously do not

And the WORSE thing. They only had soft serve ice cream for 3 hrs a day!!!! What a horrible horrible thing  ..ok, it was t the worst thing but it was sad!! I love my 24hr ice cream

I won't ever sail on an MSC ship again. Thankfully we had a real good price so it wasn't too much of a disappointment .
