  1. I obsessively check it every day:) so far no luck.

I was hopeful with the black Friday sale but, funny thing, it went up 55 bucks over the weekend and today it dropped back down. Still not low enough for me to benefit from but.... I shall keep checking.

  2. Just remember there is no guarantee that Carnival will switch you from ES to a GTY. Some (such as myself) have done it before but I(we) used a lot of sugar while asking. Technically it is a violation of the ES rules so they can say no if they want to.

Well, I guess if it happens I'll consider myself lucky then

  3. I guess I should of worded my post differently, my bad.

I'm happy with the price. Of course I'd be happier with an upgrade or some obc but I'll be happy either way.

I am disappointed that they do things to avoid price gaurentees but not much I can do about it.

So far the black Friday 'sales' are a bust too.. again, I guess that means I got a good deal.

I only book a cruise if I'm OK with the price. I dont book expecting it to drop. But hopeful that it may.

I may just see what happens a few weeks out and if a gaurentee cabin drops to a better price (for an upgrade) I will take it and get out of the early saver then.

If not I will still enjoy my cruise

  4. I am having a little difficulty here. ES is "failing you" because you didn't get any price drops? So, in other words, you got the best possible price, bought it, and then sat back and watched the price go up and your fellow cruisers pay MORE than you for the same accommodations?

Take a little time and pat yourself on the back for timing your purchase well and snagging a better deal than others are getting.

When I lost booked, the ES rate was the best rate available. So, there was no real risk. Maybe it "failed you" if a lower rate was available, but you booked gambled on the ES payoff?

I suppose you are right. I've had such success in the past that I am spoiled.

I am a bit aggravated at the fact that the only price drops I ever see anymore are on guarantee cabins. .

But I agree that I have a good price on my cruise and can't complain about that.

  5. My cruise also went up 60 bucks pp. I did see that the next category up was cheaper but it's a guarantee cabin and I cannot get it with the early saver promotion.

In my opinion this is how they get away with not price matching for early saver. I used to do well with it but now the only time it's cheaper is when it's a guarantee cabin.

I don't think i will be booking early saver any more.

  6. I just called and the lady said she can upgrade me ONE time but I will no longer be in early saver and will no longer be able to upgrade my cabin or make any other changes.

I told her people have told me you can so long as you stice with the guarantee cabin and she said absolutely not...

I guess I will no longer use early saver

  7. I agree but as I stated lots of people on my sailing have done it and are still price matching to Guarantee rooms. Do I think it is fair, no because it is inconsistent with Carnivals ES policy but is Carnival allowing it...evidently yes.

I passed on the guarantee rooms and I am also paying hundreds of dollars more than the others on the same sailing.

I am gonna call and give it a try.

  8. I no longer use ES. I use the Military rate, which is always the same price as ES. I never see price drops anymore. I don't know if it's the sailings I choose, the cabins or just bad luck, but ES hasn't really done me any good. I did have to pay the $50 p.p. change fee once.

In the past I've gotten several hundreds of dollars in OBC using early saver but not any more.

That is what I thought also but a lot of people on my January cruise were able to switch to a guarantee room. They are still price matching but can only price match to another guarantee room price in their same category.

For example, switch to an inside guarantee, you price is now $400. Next sale, an inside guarantee is $350. They were able to get the $50 obc due to they are matching to an inside guarantee. They are still ES but can only price match to a guarantee room.

Some were denied the credit but reminded Carnival that they originally booked ES and were given the credit because once ES, always ES and you can price match to the category you are in.

    Hope this makes sense.:)

I am gonna call them again. They told me if I took the guarantee room I would be booted out of early saver because you have to have a room assignment to get it??

  9. I booked 2 cruises this year on early saver. In the past I've had awesome luck with it. So far I'm 0 for 2 on it this year.

My cruise which is in 15 DAYS!!!!!! (Sorry a bit excited) kept going up in price and finally sold out. I was really hoping to get an upgrade:mad: no biggie at least I got a good price.

My next cruise is in January and price isn't going down on that one either. It keeps having sales where the oceanviews are cheaper than the insides but... only if they pick the room. And from what I was told I can't take one of those and stay in early saver?

Is that correct?? Do you have to have an assigned room to stay on early saver?? I really want to upgrade to an ocean view

  10. A few weeks ago i posted a complaint about how we booked 2 cruises thru carnival and paid for them with the Barclay card because they had an offer of 10% off if you paid with your card. This was back in July and August. We never got our 10% . We called and called and kept getting the runaround.

Well we have FINALLY got a resolution!!

I called Monday and they told me I had to wait till Tuesday for the 10th day after the filing on my case. So I called Tuesday and they told me I had to wait another week. This got me very angry and I gotta admit I wasn't real pleasant. After talking to 2 other people rather rudely they put me thru to a 3rd guy, Juan. He was very nice and apologized for what i told him was a no brainer. He agreed with the me, put me on hold for about 2 minutes and came back and said I'd see my credit by the end of the day.

My credit was to total just over 200 bucks.. and I got my credit!!!!!! :p

In fact, they DOUBLED my credit and gave me $400.00 :):):)

So, I am happy now and want everyone to know that if you don't give up they will finally make things right!!!!

  11. I got a huge price drop last year on our May cruise. I think it was Black Friday but I went on at midnight Thanksgiving. Several times I've gotten large price drops at odd hours. We ended up upgrading to an extended aft for $100 less than a regular balcony.

That's what I'm hoping get for!! I have a cruise booked for January and I'm hoping for an upgrade

  12. I will be on Glory on December 12 for exact itinerary. I'm so excited!!!! This will be my first Carnival cruise as well.....so any tips will be great :)

My husband and I will be on the cruise right along with you!! Can't wait:D

Sitting by the main pool right now as we are docked in San Juan. For the most part, everything has been good. There have been a few minor hiccups but not letting them ruin the fun! I will have a detailed review when I get home. For now I'm going to enjoy a frosty drink!

I am glad your enjoying yourself. . I'm anxious to follow this thread. We are also gonna be on the dec 12th cruise. I have yet to figure out what to do in St. Thomas but I'm sure I'll figure it out.

  13. Got a response from Barclay. Quoted and edited for privacy below.

    My query:

Earlier this year I received a mailing stating that if I purchased a new Carnival booking between 7/7/15 and 8/31/15 I would receive a ten percent statement credit.

Said purchase was made on 8/7/15 and I have yet to see that credit.

    What's up?

    Barclay's response:

    Dear **** :

Thank you for contacting us here at your Carnival World MasterCard regarding the rewards bonus on your account.

We can confirm that you have met the qualifications for the 10% statement credit promotion and should post within 6-8 weeks after the promotion ended on August 31, 2015.

Please be advised that we have forwarded a case to the appropriate department for further review. This may take 7-10 business days to process. The case number is *****. Please know that we will make adjustments, if applicable. We appreciate your patience regarding this matter. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Hopefully it will get you your 10%. I was basically told the same thing today. It's been 7 days since i called but they said today...7 to 10 BUSINESS days.. so I shall wait a few more days

  14. Thanks for your help - spent an hour on the phone last night - They promised I'd see it on my next statement - funny they told me that month.

Do you happen to know if the offer of a 10% credit is on the full cruise price - or only the amounts that hit my CC during the promo period. (07/07 - 08/31)

By the way - I see you from ATL - I'm in Marietta !

    Thanks again

I sure hope you get your 10% . I'm gonna call again tomorrow and see if anything is happening on mine..maybe I'll get somewhere!

  15. Do you have a Discover card? I get 5% cashback on all cruises and excursions that I book on Carnival and Princess. On our upcoming cruise to Panama, 3 weeks after I booked with Discover travel, a 10% cash back promotion came up. I called Discover travel and they awarded us the 10% cash back. Not only that, we received $650 OBC. We've never had any trouble with the company and booking is really easy. We've done the Carnival CC thing years ago and didn't find it reliable so we cut the card up.

Wow, no I don't have a discover card but maybe we will look into that one. Sounds like a better deal!

This is all sounding scary and I just applied for one. Also aren't they offering a $100 gift card as well. At least that is what it said in my e-mail. I haven't even gotten my yet and am thinking about cancelling it already.

Hopefully they will honor everything they offer you!!
