  1. Holy cow, you're not kidding! We have stayed at the Holiday InnFt Lauderdale Airport twice. It was nice.

I checked Hotwire and you can get a little better deal there.

I've been on priceline travolicity, Sam's Club travel. . I've been burning up the Internet for hours. I'm getting a headache . I'm in sticker shock. I'll have to pay for a cab or rent a car and pay for a hotel. Ugh... won't make this mistake twice that's for sure

  2. What?! When are you going? What about changing flights home?

I have been trying to find a way to cancel my flight thru my trip insurance and just drive. It would save me a ton of money. But aside from telling a huge fib to my doctor to get a note saying I cannot fly, I cant think if any way out.

I am booked with allegiant air and you can't switch cuz they only fly a few days a week which is why I planned to stay an extra day. I just didn't expect hotels to be so expensive. My fault for not checking that

A hotel in Fort Lauderdale on a Saturday night is about 200 unless you get a real sketchy one. I really thought January was off season, I guess I was wrong there too

  3. Ok, I have a cruise in 2 weeks on the conquest out of fort Lauderdale. I have everything going set as to getting on the ship. But when we get off we need to stay an extra day before we fly home.

I have found that hotels are VERY high, and ones that have airport shuttle service are even worse.

I was going to rent a car at the airport, take a shuttle to the airport to pick up the car and drop it off the next day. But boy is the bill adding up quick.

A crappie 2 star hotel is 150 bucks, plus 40 for the rental car.

If I get a hotel with a shuttle, how do I get from the cruise port to the hotel?

    Anyone have any tips.

  4. I enjoyed the computer animated backgrounds, I thought they were cool. The rest of other not so much.

I just can't understand why Carnival would lesson the quality of their shoes when every other cruise line seems to be upping theirs.

  5. This ship has changed over to what they call Playlist Productions, a major downgrade in the shows, in my opinion, and it seems that an overwhelming majority (but not everyone) agrees. They are dancers, and some of them kind of sing. They are asked to do too much, and the quality suffers. And you may not have noticed that instead of the normal 30-50% piped in music, Playlist has 100% piped in music. No live music at all for the shows. It's called Playlist because they have a list of songs, and they press "play". No props, half the performers, and only have the duration of the old shows. They are trying to improve on this format, as a couple of the shows have gotten better reviews than the bad ones I saw on Breeze. Most Carnival ships have switched over to this format, including on your upcoming cruise. Only a few ships still have the good shows. Currently, Dream still has them.

    Ahh, that explains alot!

I told my husband it seemed like a corporate decision. 'Let's save money on the shows, ditch the live band (and yeah I did notice that ) and hire dancers that can sing, kill 2 birds with one stone. It was a major letdown.

I usually am a huge fan of only carnival but I told my husband i may consider RC again. They seem to have better shows and that is one or my favorite things about cruising.

I just got the comment/survey email today and I will definitely mention that.

And major letdown that my next cruise will be the same :(

  6. My husband and I were on the glory last week. We did the eastern itinerary, I LOVED the itinerary! ! Sorry you missed out on that.

We have a great time. They didn't have a talent show on our cruise and I wish they did, I enjoy them.

The shows were a bit of a disappointment to me. I really look forward to the shows but they seem to have changed them up. Instead of a male and female singer and the group of dancers they now seem to have a bunch of singers that dance, or is it a bunch of dancers that sing. Either way the quality wasn't the same. I'm not sure if it was just a poor sound system or just that the singers were just good singers not great singers . What ever it was I just didn't enjoy them like I usually do.

Maybe it's a work in progress and it will improve with time? ?

But other than that the cruise was great! Loved the CD!!

  7. Enjoy, and it will be a great cruise! Plus, I *think* you'll have sliding balcony doors on Spa deck rather than the open-and-slam kind. Take good care of the Glory for us - we'll be aboard in January

I am very excited about that. I hate those open slam doors!!!! They drive me crazy!

There is no spa amenities. Glory does not have a Cloud 9 spa. It's basically a couple of steam rooms, a small fitness center, and a single massage room.

I'm happy without spa amenities. I've never used the spa before so it's no biggie for me.

  8. Congrats on your upsell!

Perhaps more experienced cruisers than I can verify, but I don't think there are "spa amenities" for Glory Spa deck cabins. Spa Deck on Glory, as I understand it, is just the name of the deck because that's where the Spa is located (on Glory, it's Spa Carnival).

Carnival does have a Spa cabin type with those spa amenities, but only ships with Cloud 9 Spas have those amenities in the Spa cabins, and the "Spa" cabins on ships with Cloud 9 spas aren't all located on the Spa deck (confused yet?) The Cloud 9 Spa cabins are on Breeze, Dream, Magic, Splendor, Sunshine and the upcoming Vista. http://www.carnival.com/staterooms.aspx.

Yeah, after I saw the post about it I called and asked. The guy told me it wasn't a 'spa' cabin so I did some research and that's what I learned. Cloud 9 spas are only on certain ships.

But hey, I'll be right by the spa and I watched a video that showed a hot tub in the gym that is real close to my cabin and they say it's rarely used. So.. it will be our little private spa area :D

I'm excited that my room is now a balcony and it's gonna be a great cruise! !

  9. Congrats! In 12 Carnival cruises I have never received an upgrade call either. We're sailing on the Glory next month & I'm in a similar situation. Booked an inside hoping to upgrade, cruise sold out. Can I ask if you answered when they called or did they leave a message? I'm afraid I'll miss the call and if they don't leave a message I'll never know! Have fun!

    I answered it. Anytime I see a 305 area code I answer

  10. Congrats on the upsell. Great price! Enjoy your balcony. Only problem with a balcony is once you cruise with one you're spoiled.

Yeah I got an upsell offer on my last cruise so I'm already spoiled:p

That's a fantastic deal, spa or not!! Congrats and enjoy it!!

I really thought it was a good deal. I got a good deal on the cruise to begin with cuz I booked early saver and I checked it every day, it only went up. So, to upgrade on such a good price works for me !!!

  11. I booked my cruise back in july, just an inside cabin on the Glory. I was hoping to get a price drop so I could upgrade. That never happened cuz the cruise sold out.

So today my phone rang with the 305 area code!!! :D they offered to put us in a balcony for

114 a person! ! So, 228 bucks and we have a balcony on the spa level! !! Cabin 1114!

    I jumped at it!!

I'm so excited now!! In 5 days my husband and I will be sailing in a super cool balcony!!!!
