  1. You're owed credits for both promotions whether Barclays likes it or not. If you were promised perks during a promotion then you must receive them if you fulfilled the requirements of the promotional agreement.

If I were you I would send a professional e-mail to both the Barclay exec team and the Carnival exec team explaining the problem and your dissatisfaction with the broken agreement. Then file a BBB complaint and FTC complaint with the government.

I guarantee you will get a call from Carnival exec office within 48 hours (they're the best!) and a call from Barclay sometime after that. BBB and FTC will take a little longer but the info you submit will get sent to each company.

I hope you get this fixed soon!

I didn't fight for the $50.00 credit I lost, but I do plan on it with this one. I do believe I will send do Carnival an email either way

Of course sales and promotions are supposed to increase revenue, but companies can not lie to get the sales.

To the OP, send a complaint in writing to Barclays and Carnival and copy those. Barclay has an official complaint address

    Card Services

    PO Box 8801

    Wilmington, DE 19899-8801

    Thanks, I wil do that!

  2. You have to keep bothering Barclay again and again. We booked under a similar promotion once and the credit didn't show up. I called and called--sometimes three times a day to get a different rep. In addition, I would ask if there's not someone else I could talk to about this--and I kept insisting I was due the promotional credit. I talked to several "supervisors" over several weeks time and finally one of them said they would make sure my credit was applied. Of course, like you, it took another two statement cycles and more calls to "supervisors" and insisting that, "no no--I am due this credit and I expect to see it on the next statement" before it was actually posted. From January when it was "supposed to be automatic" to May, when it was actually posted, I continued to be persistent...and you too can get your credit if you keep trying.

That is encouraging. .. somewhat aggravating that you have to go thru that, but encouraging to know it works. I shall keep bugging them.

They said today they filed a claim and gave me a claim number. We shall see what happens from there.

  3. With all due respect, I do feel your pain and I would be upset also.

However, Sales and promotions are designed to do 1 thing only,,, increase revenue.

Might want to consider not biting on every promotion.

I know this will go over wrong and it's not my intention, however, couldn't figure out how to be PC

Well, we didn't book the cruises because of the promotion. We were planning on booking them anyways. One is an anniversary cruise and well the other is a sister cruise so... We probably would have not put them on the card, would of paid them off cash. But we figured hey, we get points and we will get a discount so we put them on the card. Not gonna happen again.

  4. So back in July my husband received an card in the mail from the barclay carnival card. It said book a cruise between July 7th and Aug 31st and pay for it with your Barclay card and receive 10% off. So we did. In fact I booked a second one (a sister cruise) and put it on the card also.

We didn't get a credit on our statement. We called and they said we had to wait for the promotion to be over. So we waited.. Called again in september.. were told wait till next statemet. We its November and its still not on there.

My husband called yesterday. They told him it was a carival thing and carnival would have to issue the credit. Of course i call carnival and they say its a Barclay thing and they would have to issue the credit.

Now Im getting angry. this all rings familiar because last year I booked a cruise and got a pop up that said Id get 50.00 off if I paid with the barclay card. I went around around with them both and never got that one.

I see history repeating itself. If I do not get this refund I am cutting up this card and seriously thinking about looking into Royal Caribbiean. Maybe they offer promotions that they actually stand behind!!

  5. They knew and had time. The family cruise was "your" dream. Sorry.

Our upcoming cruise is the first in a long time where we don't have any friends/family joining us. While I love to do those trips there is something to be said for getting to do everything when/how you want. I am choosing to look at this trip as truly OURS and am looking forward to it for that reason. I hope you and your husband have a great time! And maybe your daughter can catch the next one.

I know it will be a wonderful cruise! It's got a great itinerary so it will be a blast. !

  6. This is the reason, that I do not plan family cruises. The one time that I did, I planned it 1 year in advance so that everyone would have time to get their vacation time approved. Unfortunately, no one but us booked when we planned it and by the time they were ready to book the price jumped up. Don't be disappointed that you booked the cruise. Enjoy yourself and spend time with your husband. Just don't plan anymore family cruises :).

Well that is exactly how it happened with us. So, I guess your right. For now on we will just let them know we we are going in a cruise and the rest will be up to them!

  7. It's funny because a month ago I was bummed out because I booked early saver and was hoping for price reductions so I could upgrade my room.. little did I know the price was gonna skyrocket and the cruise was gonna sell out. . I will just be happy to be on the ship I guess. .:o

  8. I did try my best. We booked it in July but we were planning it months before that.

I am sure we will have a wonderful time just the two of us. I just have to wrap my head around the fact that its no longer a family cruise.

We wil try to plan another one and hope some family can go on that one:rolleyes:

  9. Yeah, it's gonna be anice anniversary cruise of sorts, our anniversary is the end of December. . So we will enjoy it either way, I just feel bad for my daughter, she really was looking forward to it.[/Q

    But, it's YOUR anniversary.

Ha, when you put it that way!!:D

While I love cruising with family, one of my favorite cruises was the anniversary cruise that I took with just my DH. Actually made him love cruising. And rest of family were ready to go the next time we brought up a cruise.

Go and have a great cruise!!!!!

Yeah, we have only been on one cruise alone. It's usually with family or friends. So, it will definitely be a nice change.

I guess I just have to stop feeling bad for everyone else and enjoy myself

  10. Enjoy the time with your DH, and you will find that your time together will be like dating again.;)

Yeah, it's gonna be anice anniversary cruise of sorts, our anniversary is the end of December. . So we will enjoy it either way, I just feel bad for my daughter, she really was looking forward to it.

  11. Well look at it as time with your husband
Yeah alone time is always good

I feel your pain. We had planned a cruise with DD. Booked her into our cabin and then had to cancel her out because she wasn't going to go. NOW she decides she might go, but the cruise is sold out, so I may not be able to add her back.

    Kids ... geez.

I have a huge family and we booked this cruise MONTHS ago(back in July ) I really wanted to get the entire family together ...everyone drug their feet. Our daughter was the one who planned on going but she just started a new job. She is gonna be really disappointed. ..

  12. My husband and I are booked on the Glory on Dec 12th. It was supposed to be a family cruise but no one else is going.. when we booked it, it was cheap and other family members were gonna go. then the price just kept creeping up. Our one daughter said she was gonna go but has to wait for vacation approval. So, during the big sale today the price has JUMPED up and most of the cabins are sold out.

We have an inside cabin, we paid $1124.00 for 2 people. The problem is we cannot add her to our room cuz it's a 2 person room. There are no 3 people inside rooms left, no 3 person ocean views left... and a balcony is gonna be $1714.00 for 2, and if she comes it's $2032.00 .

I called 2 days ago trying get to upgrade to an interior that would hold 3 just in case she can go but they wouldn't let me take a 3 person room for 2nd people. And now all they have are crazy expensive balconies.

Now it looks like our daughter won't be going. .

I feel so disappointed and almost wishing I didn't even book this cruise. :(

  13. Does anyone know if the site is having problmes or is it just my tablet?

I want to sign in and start filling out all my paperwork.

I put in my user name and password and hit the submit button and nothing happens. Ive tried it on google crom and explorer? Im using a tablet but ive never had this problem on any other site

  14. Carnival prices are definitely higher than last year. We cruise during the slowest time of the year. Booked our upcoming trip about a year ago and despite checking every day haven't had a single price drop for our interior cabin. Not a big deal though. We always book what we can afford. I consider any price drops or upgrades as a "bonus." Prices are still cheaper than other cruise lines from what I have seen for our travel dates.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

yep, that's how we feel too. I'm crossing my fingers but I'll be happy either way

No its because they removed lobster on short cruises. 😉

Ha!! I totally agree, I love the lobster!!

  15. I tend to agree with the inflation aspect. Our dollar doesn't go as far as it used too.

I guess being the cheap (frugal ) person I am I always look for the best price. I shall just have to deal worth the new prices.

I will also have to consider RC again. If I am going to pay more I may as well sail in a fancy ship. They do have the wow factor that Carnival doesn't have. If I'm gonna pay more I want to get more.

RC doesn't seem to have any type of early saver program. Last time I did book with them I had a heck of a time getting an upgrade when the price dropped on my cruise. But... I may try them again next year.. :).

  16. I have noticed that too. We book in the off season, December normally but decided on Jan this time just based upon everyones schedule with work. Which I thought would be a good thing because last few years that I was price watching the price in Jan seemed to be even better then December. So far we have received only 2 price drops which were not much at all one literately was a 5 dollar price drop and 1 obc for 30 dollars.

I keep checking daily though just in case, was so excited about a week two weeks ago when there was a sale cause it showed 189 for January with obc but it was for the 10th. :(

Still hoping the price drops at least some even if it's last minute sales. I know I will be looking up to the two day mark lol.

Yeah I have one booked in January and I keep seeing price drops but never for mine, but I will keep looking :o

You should only book the price you are satisfied with paying at the time and if there is a price drop then "bonus" for you. Price drops should not be expectations in booking, maybe hopes/wishes, but never expectations. ;)

I am happy with the prices I paid for my cruises. Of course I will be HAPPIER with some OBC but I'm still happy either way

  17. We normally book 7-8 months ahead. We always book a balcony cabin. We're finding that on ALL the lines we've sailed in the last few years the prices have only increased since booking - CCL, HAL and RCCL

From the CC boards for all 3 cruise lines I know a few years ago there were rumblings/complaints that folks who booked early got screwed on the prices while those who booked in the last month or 2 scooped up the good deals. I wonder if this trend is in response to that?

Well I did book early but I still want to see the prices go down.

That's certainly a thought, I suppose. I'm not even seeing any last minute deals currently though. By last minute, I mean within a month of sailing. The last cruise I booked went up drastically the last two weeks before sailing. I tend to think they are raising prices just to see if the market will bear it. I hope it does not, and in Carnival's case, I don't think their market will bear it over a long period of time. They would have to do some serious upgrading to continue filling rooms long term at some of their current prices.

Some like to equate Carnival with Walmart, or Target, and I think that's fair in some regards. I wonder what would happen to Walmart and Target if they raised their prices to near that of Macy's? I think we know the answer to that. Most would reach the logical conclusion that if they are going to have to pay $_______ for a blouse, or pair of slacks, or whatever, they may as well pay a tiny bit more and buy it at Macy's.

Yeah I agree, if I have to pay more I want more for my money ...

  18. Our balconies in January ran us about $350pp on Magic deck 8. That's the best deal I've ever gotten. Only downside was that the water was too cold for me in the ports (yes, I'm a bit of a sissy when it comes to water temps). The weather was perfect, though - not sweltering hot, just very pleasant.

I love to get price drops, but in the end, if I was willing to pay the fare when I booked, I don't complain about not getting a price drop. I just check prices and if I get one - bonus!

I have a cruise booked in January and I am hoping for some price drops so I can upgrade to at least an ocean view.. Keeping my fingers crossed!!

  19. Our upcoming cruise was all over the place price wise, but I hung in there, kept checking and just after final payment prices went down for a very short time. I have a $260. OBC waiting on me :)

I sure hope that's what happens to me:)

So, less than $350 a person for a balcony room on a 7-nighter? Any secrets you want to share with us on how to achieve this?? :D

That just made me giggle

  20. I do agree that cruising is still cheaper than most other vacations... But it is odd that they are going up instead of down!

I was really hoping my Dec 12th cruise would of doe cuz I've bee trying to make it a kind of family reunion cruise.. But since I had that brilliant idea and my husband and I booked it the price has jumped up about 100pp.. So I don't see a lot of family members waning to go at that price sadly.
