  1. I was on The Getaway last Thanksgiving: (1) food everywhere including a hot dog stand for all those watching football in the Atrium. (2) Thanksgiving dinner on the menu in the MDR (3) Class Room type decorations everywhere. (4) Staff loved Thanksgiving- most did not understand the history but they loved the food and the football- what they understood of our version of football- very different from their fotball especially the cheerleaders.

Best cruise I have had in a long time. Had so much fun I am going back this year for Christmas.

  2. Keep in mind that very few people who have been on a particular cruise take the time to write or post reviews.

Staff changes occur on an almost weekly basis: go on or coming from vacation, coming from another ship within or another company or yes a brand new hire.

December is a graet time to cruise. Have fun.

  3. I have on been one cruise that did not have a M&G scheduled. Don't remember the reason.

I will agree that only about half the the people that say they will attend actually do. The ships have a formula that says if the headcount is one figure, they prepare for this figure. My last Alaskan cruise this past Spring, the Hotel Director said we had a much larger turnout than they had expected.

I would not worry about a missing M&G or lack of activity on a Roll Call ruin my cruise.

  4. I have just finished my 25th Norwegian cruise and leaving in a month for number 26, all as a solo 60 something widow.

I have sailed on a number of the Jewel Class ships, the Dawn, The Spirit,The Sun and 5 times on the Getaway. Other than the size, I don't find a lot of difference between any of them. I buy excursions on board ship after a discussion with the Shore Excursions staff. I ask, "Would you let your Mother or Grandmother go on this excursion?" If they say Yes, I purchase it.

My advice would be to find a cruise that interests you, book it and go. Please find the Roll Call for whatever cruise you choose and make friends before boarding the ship.

    Have a great time.

  5. July is "High Season" so I would chose September. With school back is season, The Pearl will have many more adults than kids.

The weather in Seattle is very nice. Please try to add a day or two to enjoy the city either pre or post cruise. Too many places to see and things to do to mention here.

Either cruise would be great. Which timeframe fits better in your schedule?

  6. I am about to head out for my 26th Norwegian cruise. I have had to purchase either the dining or beverage packages. Most of my meals are in the main dining rooms. I have to watch my diet very carefully and always find things I can eat. I would not worry about it. If you would like to eat in a Speciality, you can always make a reservation on that day or go ask, might have short wait but if they can, they will serve.

The Spirit is a wonderful ship with a great staff. Have fun.
