It sounds great. I'm bummed because no one on my roll call is interested in a meet and greet, and I would have loved to attend one, especially since I'm traveling alone.
When is your cruise?
-
Preston Carnahan one of the Staff Captain's on the newest ship The Escape is an American but I do not know where he got his education.
-
The Officers who are at the Meet and Greet are the Senior Hotel Officers: Hotel Director, Assistant Hotel Director, Food nd Beverage Director and the like.
It is a very nice time. To me it is worth the effort to attend.

I always use a local travel agent that I have used for years. He knows what accommodations i need, what I will accept and will not. Sometimes, he gets some really good deals for me. If something should go wrong, before during or after the cruise, he can fix it. I would not go anywhere without his help.

guestrelations@ncl.com is the best address I have.

Your Booking Agent may be able to help, try that first.

Any bar will be happy to give you a glass of water with ice. I drink water all day long at the bars.

Thanking you for taking the time to write and post this. I feel the same way. Any business goes through changes once in awhile sometimes for the better and sometimes not- fact of life.
I am loyal to Norwegian and have no reason to change my current bookings which now stand at 5 cruises between now and the end of 2016 with one more probably being added.
Other than one or two staff members having a bad day (haven't we all), I have not encountered rude staff members. Everyone works very hard to provide a good product from the kids in the Engine Room cleaning the pistons (do you want that job) all the way up to the Captain and the responsibility that lays on his shoulders. I am just amazed at how so many staff members from so many countries can form a team ( family) and be willing to work long hard hours and long contracts to be away from their families. What is more amazing is the fact that it takes a lot of them two or three days to come from their homes around the world to board "their" ship and then reverse the process at the end of their contacts. Thank you to each and every staff member.

Times listed in the itinerary are the local time. Time on ship will change as you enter and leave each time zone. For example if it says in Belize 8:00 A.M. 4 P.M., it will be the same time on the ship as in Belize. As you change time zones while on the ship, a little card will be placed on your bed the night before telling you to set your time forward or back one hour.
Have a wonderful cruise. -
I sailed on The Jewel to Alaska in early June and love the food. They have prime rib one night in O'Sheehan's that was just wonderful.
There is a White Hot Party about 10: 30 P.M. Think 1970's Disco. Held indoors so it is loud.
Alaska is a wonderful cruise. Lots of history especially in Skagway, once a Russian fishing village.
I love The Jewel. I will be back on Her the end of January.
Have a great time.

I am heading back for my 6th and 7th cruise on The Getaway in December. Have not had any food issues except that most of the portion sizes especially in the Main Dinner Rooms, for me are too big.

smellytoes' date=' who is the captain right now? Do you know any of the other officers on board? Did you have a Cruise Critic Meet & Greet? If so, did they say they would arrange a bridge tour later in the week? Inquiring minds want to know!!
Thanks in advance for any information you can give me.[/quote']
The Captain on board The Dawn today, is leaving Friday on his vacation.

ncl stock down 3% today.
I'm assuming wall street didn't like the quarterly #s released today?
This stock market is just reacting to stock markets around the world, nothing to do with any particular company.

Such as....
Gifts depend on which ship and which staff member. Sometimes it is chocolate from a local chocolate shop which usually gets hidden from other munchie staff members. I will bring story books about the area where I live for staff member's children, or small picture calendars from Washington State, international phone cards. I always take and write Thank You notes to staff from bartenders up to and including the Captain.

Earnings Report came out this morning. Norwegian beat projections aby $.02.

I have been on The Getaway five times, four in s studio. Lots of storage available, never use it all. There is a Dress Up but only if you wish- second night of the cruise. I always book my excursions once I am on board and can talk with the staff. I don't waste the money on Spa or Vibe passes. Lots of quiet places to be alone if that is what you wish. I do not pre book shows either. Usually the Studio Lounge Attendant can make arrangements for dinners and shows so that you go in a group. Going solo must of the time you can just show up.
Relax and have a great cruise.

People who are booked in Suites have the privilege on lunch on Embarkation Day in Cagney's.
One of the Main Dining Rooms, O'Sheehan's and the buffet are open for everyone else. The Summer Palace is just beautiful with lots of spectacular paintings of the Czar Nicholas and his family prior to the Russian Revolution in 1917.

Do I bring staff gifts:YES!!!

Depending on what your issue is, Andy Stuart's office might be better.

What is happening, is that a number of ships are getting new itineraries to be announced probably this Tuesday. I am assuming that Norwegian will be as accommodating as possible.

In early June, I finished my 25th Norwegian cruise and my 5th on the Getaway always as a solo passenger. Except for a couple of minor issues on a couple of cruises, I have always had a great time. I was on the Getaway over Thanksgiving last year which ranks as among my very favorite cruises. Favorite cruise was on The Jewel in late August 2010. Sailed through a hurricane southbound out of New York City and another hurricane coming northbound.
I will be returning this December for two cruises back to back over Christmas on the Getaway over Christmas. I can not wait. Every cruise is want YOU make it.

Thank you. I guess I'll have to buy the Captain a couple of drinks first. The bridge is the part I want to see the most. Cheers.
Sorry NONE of the Senior Officers are allowed to drink alcoholic beverages during their contacts on board ship.
-
To me the tour is very much worth it. However, the tour takes about 2 hours, you must wear closed toed shoes- no sandals or flip flops and you must be able to climb and descend metal open staircases. You get a chance to see on the the kitchens, the laundry area, some of the environmental areas, usually backstage of the theater and sometimes the Bridge. The Bridge portion depends on whether or not the Captain will allow it. Some will and some will not.

When you get a chance could you please post a list of both the Bridge and Hotel Officers. Thank You.
