Next year we are doing our first cruise out of LA… a 7 + 4 B2B. Are dinners more casual, less casual, or similar to the one from FL ports?
-
Is there a convenient place for us to pick up wine near our hotel, or the port? If we are doing a B2B, can we bring on 4 bottles, and have 2 go into the “naughty” room, for the 2nd leg of the trip?
-
Once, and only once, we had a cruise director so annoying that it actually impacted what we participated in. It was still an awesome, fun trip, but we avoided sitting anywhere near her and her yowly voice- it drove us both crazy.

Thanks so much!!!!

What time does the lounge open, and do they have latte’s? Do they have bottled/canned water you can leave with? What time is the happy hour?
Thanks!!

How was the Maya Key Private Island Retreat via RCI?
We really loved it! Nice beach, cool
things to walk around and see, good food, and snorkeling was ok. Only negative- when it warmed up in the afternoon, there were sea lice biting, so next time I’d do all snorkeling earlier 🙂

I need to book travel insurance for our Feb cruise. I forgot the name of the site that lets you select what you want, then Gives you a bunch of options. Can someone remind me of the name of that site?

Thanks for the replies. I'm reading a lot about the Pope, but my uncle (and again, not me) is part of the Catholic religion that doesn't recognize the modern Catholic religion. He's going to Catholic churches where they preach in Latin (don't shoot the messenger!).
Interesting! I didn’t believe you, so I googled and- voila! Found it. Had no idea that Sedevacantism was a thing. Half my family is catholic, and I had never heard of it…

We fly first class. I haven't noticed a lot of changes in the prices (from ORD to Florida ports). What I have noticed is that capacity seems to fill up fast. We just had to sit in row 1 because it was the only row available. First world problem to be sure but all of our recent flights have been 100% full.
Ok, good to know! I see Delta is saying only 5 seats available at my current price, in first class…

You can lock in (probably a slightly higher price) by using Air2Sea but don't need to buy/pay till final payment. Then watch prices.
We have done air to sea before, but never kept an eye on prices… if they go down, do I just give them a call?

Sorry to hear about your father in law 😞

Don’t know for sure, but my guess is that we can buy lunch but it won’t be covered by the UDP. The letter of the law is lunch on “sea days.” Wouldn’t it be great if it were included! Hope someone can give us the answer!
We were able to get “free” lunch at Playmakers, on port days.

Gold are the ships they haven't sailed yet
If only we would have known that Royal would be our favorite- we would have more ships scratched off 🙂. We did a few on Norwegian and carnival first, but RCI is our fave.

Where do you get the actual poster from? I have never seen this before.
Looks very cool.
I saw it posted on FB, then found it on Etsy. I think it was like $40, and then I got a frame on Amazon for like $25. You scratch of the gold for the ships you’ve sailed, and level that you are. I did not get the “free scratcher” that they said was included, so I used a coin

Hmmm....I have never seen a restaurant add a service charge here in the UK. They may do it in the super expensive restuarants in London but never seen it out in the woods.
In normal restaurants you get a menu with the price of each item and thats the price you pay on the bill.
Maybe I have been going to the el-cheapo eateries.
On a related note… I’ve only been to the UK for work. And, since service was great, and work was picking up the tab, I tipped VERY well. And, my servers were always shocked 🙂
-
I always buy my cruises way far in advance, and book flights as soon as they are available. I know that due to what is going on in the world, some things are higher priced that normal. So… not sure what to do.
We want to fly direct, on delta, comfort plus or first class, from Minneapolis to LA, next Feb. Comfort plus is $1300 for 2 people, first class is $2100.
What would you do- wait and see if prices go down, or book now?

But wouldn't you need a new poster to affix it to?
I’m hoping there is one I can smoosh into the blue space 🙂

Every night, I wear a dress… but not cuz I feel I have to 🙂. I just want to. DH now wears a Hawaiian shirt and khakis every night. We used to dress up for formal nights, but like doing this now instead. People wear anything from shorts to fancy stuff 🙂
-
My advice- before boarding, write down where and when you want to eat. Once onboard, make reservations and take your paper and pen with (you might need to adjust times). If your plans change, you can change restaurants/times later on 🙂
if you have a concierge, you can email them your preferences, and they will make the reservations for you 🙂

We got carryout and took to our room.
On a related note… if we are in a grand suite, can we get JR’s delivered to our room for free (plus a big tip, of course)?
Wine near Crown Plaza, LA Harbor (or port)?

Ack! Forgot this wasn’t the RCI board. We’ll be on royal.
