  1. You are definitely not being unfair Terry. I understand that for our July Alaska cruise we will need to find somewhere in Vancouver (where we are going for 5 days before the cruise) to take a PCR test before we get onto the cruise ship. I sincerely trust that is it - when we land in Seward we are in to the USA, and with onward flights to Kodiak then Seattle no further test is necessary? Unless you all know different? I am crossing all fingers and toes this goes by mid-July, though you are very clear at the moment that the powers that be don't want to stop it.
  2. PS We got Omicron in April - husband in bed exhausted for some days, and I had a streaming cold for 4 days - that was it.
  3. Except some countries vaccinate more than others - are we to be banned because we have had no jab since our 3rd jab (booster) in November 2021 - and frankly none planned unless something else goes wrong with the virus expanding?
  4. Such beautiful photos! Am so looking forward to seeing this! Commiserations re the ice cream machines - I hope they mend them soon?
  5. Thank you so much YVRteacher - your report is so funny that reading it I keep calling my commuting husband to share new posts with him! So looking forward to our July Alaska trip.
  6. Thank you so much LMKakaThing2! I shall have look on the NCL board. We are booked with Jayleen too, so I hope we see lots of whales!
  7. We're not.... but what was it like LMKakaThing2? Anything stand out for you?
  8. Just looked at our July Silver Muse Alaska cruise. Along the bottom of the Activities section of My Silversea is a legend, with a black tie icon for a formal night. But there is 0 black tie icon in the daily Activities columns. Is it now that Alaska cruises have no formal night? But still imagine that a jacket over a nice shirt & trousers for DH and a nice dress or top and trousers for me will work every night?
  9. Thank you all. No we aren't on Princess or Royal Caribbean, so any info here would be so helpful, thank you especially JT1962. Please do keep it coming!
  10. Ha! I have put up a roll call for our Alaska cruise, but have had 0 replies. So not sure aobut Roll Calls (this is our 1st ocean cruise) or indeed Meet & Mingles?
  11. Have you had your 2022 Alaska cruise? What was it like? I cannot see any reviews yet, and I would like an update if possible before we cruise in July. Thank you very much if you can give us any information.
  12. Thank you notamermaid. The only masks we have are the small blue cheapy "disposable" ones, which as we only used to put them on when entering a shop briefly, have lasted for months. We had a brief COVID cold this April, so hope we are immune for a few months, and trust will get another jab before we come to you in November. So far no mention of when under 75s in the UK will have this. So there are months to go for everything to be eased!x
  13. Please @notamermaid every month or so (if things change) will you update us on the need for PCR tests, Passenger Locator Forms (or country entry apps, ugh) and masks in Germany? What is it like now? We have 0 restrictions in the UK. Thank you for your help, as always I love everything you write.
  14. My friend - aged 60 and otherwise healthy (and fit) - had a small blood clot in her leg directly following the 2nd vaccination, so she avoided the 3rd booster shot last autumn. She and her husband later had COVID (Omicron) and merely felt a bit unwell for a few days. She is not sure whether it would be good for her to have future autumn vaccines (which my husband and I will continue to have when / if they are available in the UK) in fear of more clots. So she will only go to places which don't require it. The question is will those expand or not? I guess we need to wait until next winter to know.
  15. My husband (not me) has this problem all the time, his passport has never been e-accepted. So as you approach the e-gates, you can see just beyond them (after the last one) a small queue for a real person, and he goes straight to that.
  16. If we don't need a PCR before flying into Canada why do we need one to leave it (on the ship)? Because if this were a USA cruise only we wouldn't need one - is that right? Hopefully by July they will give up on that!x ??
  17. If you have already completed vaccine, passport, hotel / ship details etc what is it which must wait until 72 hours to be completed?
  18. Thank you again martincath - gosh! I tend to bring 3 large paperbacks (one in my hand luggage for the plane over and 2 in my suitcase) and hope that will last me, or I can buy another one halfway through the holiday. DH makes do with 1 paperback, he isn't as dedicated to reading as I am. We do have a small back up device for the photos, and yes I do carry a small alarm clock. I am a bit luddite in not trusting something (ie a tablet) I would have to keep charging up. I do own a smartphone, but usually use it to text to our guide etc or whoever we are meeting, to check times and location. If we have free wi-fi I will probably make more use of it (eg Google).
