I never lost my Brooklyn accent.Whenever people meet me for the first time they know I am from NY.If they ever lived in NYC they can tell that I lived in Brooklyn.The classic story about a Brooklyn accent is my friend Ira who lived in a small town in Georgia for 50 years.He taught English in a HS with his Brooklyn accent.

Wow.My friends grew up in NYC ,went to college in Texas ,married native Texans and spent the rest of their lives there.They lived in Seabrook till 2009 and moved to North Arlington .I only visited them when they lived near Houston .I met many of their friends and neighbors and cannot recall any saying y’all.Very strange.
  3. If you call the NYC Department of Tourism located in Manhattan they should be able to give you some suggestions.
  4. There should not be a problem if you are taking the Staten Island Expressway .
  5. In my opinion the best car service in NYC for going to cruise ports and or airports is Allstate ,located in Manhattan.
  6. We cruised many times from Manhattan to the Caribbean ,always in the winter.
  7. Another vote for Nassau. In the 70’s the President of the company where I worked had a home in Nassau.He frequently told the employees how beautiful Nassau was.I finally got to cruise there in 2013 and was very disappointed.
  8. I should have said that my friends lived in the Houston area.They actually lived in Seabrook . This afternoon/evening is the Rangers event that I posted to you about. it is called Skate With The Greats at Chelsea Piers.The Rod Gilbert Memorial game starts 4:30.16 former players will be there.
  9. I have friends who moved from Brooklyn to Houston,TX and lived there 52 years.They never said y’all.I wonder if there is a difference between Houston and Dallas.When I was out there I never heard anyone use that word .
  10. It is a beautiful winter day here ,44 degrees.I put away my winter clothes last week and am not taking them out.
  11. Alaska was my second favorite cruise.We actually did 7 days land and 7 sea.The land was by train ,bus and walking.It was Toby’s retirement vacation .
  12. I have Raynaud’s Syndrome so my feet are always cold .I have to wear socks when sleeping. I cannot have the AC on in the house and I never had it on in a car.Having this medical problem actually saved my life .I was driving with the car windows open on a hot day .I fell asleep while driving ,smashed the Residents gate in my development and was just about to drive through a house .One of the Maintenance guys saw me,screamed my name and I woke up.
  13. My days of going to clubs in Manhattan were during a time that people could be on subways and or walk the streets any hour of the night. My parents never had cars or drove .I did not drive or own a car till I was 29 .
  14. Somebody sent me an article that appeared in the New York Times in 2006 that your BIL who grew up in Brooklyn might want to read. He can Google:When Tilden Was The World.
  15. I realize that a gps or a wave can be very helpful.However,I drove in the era of no internet and I had no problems.
  16. I have been on highways where the GPS voice said to turn left and if we did so we would be in the Hudson River.
  17. I live in a very safe virtually crime free area.That is likely why doctors have no qualms about making house calls.
