We almost never go to diners.The last time was in 2019 with people we met on a cruise who live in my part of NY.We were three couples.The experience was awful,not the food ,the waiter and the Manager were very rude.
My niece ,the MD who I occasionally post about had a book published yesterday about Women in Medicine.She co-wrote the book with another MD.They were working on it for three years.
Prior to this endeavor they were both featured on an on line program about Medical Doctors.
In the early 60’s I had a friend named Louise Muir .She was related to the Naturalist John Muir after whom Muir Woods is named.Toby and I went to Muir Woods in 1970 .Sausalito in 1970 was beautiful .The last time we were there was 2002.
Last Sunday was my 56th.wedding anniversary.My children bought us dinner at a great Long Island Deli.They wanted it to be a nostalgia night .When we were dating and went to a Brooklyn Deli it was $1 for a pastrami on rye.
If my father had his way I would have grown up at 530D ,but all of my mothers friends lived in Brooklyn and they moved there.My father had two friends who lived at 530D.Even his friend Sidney Hillman could not change my mother’s mind.
I have been to California several times.The first time was In 1970 when I was young and healthy.My wife and I did an alcohol tasting tour of the many wineries.At each one there were 2 ounce cups but there was no limit .The second time we did that tour was 1999,still healthy but not young and I could not drink as much as the first time.
The first time I went to a McDonalds was probably in the 70’s.The only fast food burger restaurant in my part of NY was White Castle .In 1962 something else opened but I do not remember what it was.
In 1932 stamps were selling for 3 cents.In 1958 it was 4 cents.
I remember The NY Times being 5 cents on weekdays.
