The last time I went through old drawers I found my report card from the 4th.grade ,my mothers first passport and an insurance policy that my parents took out in 1947.

We cruised on a HAL ship and loved it .

Although I lived in NYC nearly 60 years and cruised from Manhattan many times I would have to agree with you about San Juan.

In the 40’s the father of one of my friends was a Lt.in the 75th.pct.in Brooklyn.That was the first person I knew who was in law enforcement.

Can I ask where your father was a Police Officer ? I have had friends who worked in Brooklyn,Manhattan and Queens.One was Chief of Detectives in Queens County,one was a Sgt.in Manhattan South and one a Lt.in Brooklyn.In addition I have many friends who were police officers,some were second generation.

I have have many friends ,relatives and neighbors who retired from the NYPD and or the FDNY.The son of one friend is with the FDNY currently .We also have been to parties at the Catholic Club.We loved Breezy Point.

The guy we knew who lived there was known by everyone .Whenever we entered and had to stop at the guard booth and told them we were there to visit Jimmy A.the guards always told us he was a great guy.Toby and his wife went to Nursing school together .We were very close friends and just lost touch .I cannot remember why.In the 90’s a guy who I worked with was in the process of moving from BayRidge Brooklyn to Breezy Point.

Correct. Our friend was Jimmy A. We also went to Kennedy’s restaurant for parties .

We were just out.We went to the house of my daughter who is on a cruise to check to see if any packages were left there .It was very hot outside.

We had friends who lived there,the husband was known as the “Mayor” of Breezy Point but it was just an honorary title.He was a NYC Police Officer.

TSOTD is from Breezy Point,NY In the 1970’s I was there practically every July 4 .

I actually had a setback because the last two times I was out I had to turn back after one block.However,I am not giving up. Re my journal I am not inferring that everything I am referring to just occurred in my life .

I think Oliver is in the minority and that is great .Every dog I have ever lived with has been terrified of the sound of firecrackers.

In my development every resident received a notice stating that fireworks are forbidden.Anyone who sets them off is subject to a $500.00 fine.

There are fireworks tonight .I can hear them but I have no idea where they are coming from.

I edited my response to John.When I was 12 a close friend was murdered.I wrote about it in my journal.I also wrote about it in the book of poetry and short stories that I wrote in 1988 that was published.I have two copies that I was going to give to my granddaughters a few months ago but decided to wait because my 13 year old granddaughter is too young to read it.As far as my journals ,hopefully they will both be adults when they read them.

Every dogs least favorite holiday.The loud sounds are torture to them.

There are some depressing things in my journals .

In the summer after graduating HS I had a job making $59 a week.The company wanted me to continue working and not go to college.They offered me an incentive of a $1 a week pay increase if I accepted their offer.

Hopefully it will clear up very soon.

My youngest daughter and her husband got married in St.Kitts .That island has been a special place for our family since.

Many years ago a co-worker of mine had a girlfriend who worked for a very large Manhattan insurance company .Employees were able to eat free lunches in the cafeteria.One day my co-worker and I somehow were able to get inside to get a free lunch .We too found something in our food that should not have been there.Ten years earlier I had a summer job for the supposed largest Insurance company in NY .They had a Nutritionist on staff who was in the employee cafeteria giving guidance on the healthy ordering of food.

At age 13 I began a journal and added to it every year to age 40.In 1988 when I was the recipient of a Humanitarian Award there was a story written about me in a NYC newspaper.My grandchildren will be able to read the story .In 1990 there was a story written about me in a magazine ,they will be able to read that.In 1999 there was a story about me in a NYC magazine that my grandchildren can also read.In 2011 a story about me was written on an online site.I have a copy of the story,another thing they can read. In 2012 I contributed to the making of a Documentary that won two Emmy Awards.My grandchildren watched the film last year.
