  1. My son in law is currently on the Dream for the Poker Tournament and on embark day at about 1pm, they were experiencing a heavy downpour of rain and associated storms. He was talking to us from the Lido where he was waiting for the rain to let up when a woman rushed past him, slipped on the wet deck and broke her leg. He hung up and called us back before sailing to say that she had been removed by ambulance. Bad start to her cruise! He was sad to see the whole thing unfold.

  2. Thanks for warding me off!!

Their eggs benedict is TERRIBLE too and John Heald actually posted on his FB page if people enjoyed it. Bad idea John! The English muffin is like a rock topped by a hard cooked egg and for the sauce, scrambled eggs. Gross... We even went to the MDR for brunch for just this dish and when it came out it was obvious that it had been prepared hours prior and left under a heat lamp. You have to make it fresh or it is no good. I enjoyed a really good EB on RC before, made fresh and correctly. Carnival's offering is in name only and no kin whatsoever to the actual dish. YUCK!

I learned early on to ask for the Eggs Benedict with the sauce on the side - they have to cook one fresh for you! A world of difference!

  3. When I organize the M&G I give out lanyards that I make over the winter made out of all crazy kinds of ribbon with a ship map in the clear plastic holder to get you started - I buy the clips and the loops at either Amazon or JoAnn's Fabric - so fun to see everyone wearing them around the ship!!

Absolutely the best cruise accessory you MUST have!!

I did this for our family cruise in March for all the kids and women - there were 11 of us - we were all stopped several times a day with people asking us where to buy them. My son told me next cruise I should bring all the left over supplies and make them on demand on the Lido deck!

  4. Only you know how much you plan to drink, spend in the gift shops, gamble + the $90+ for each of you for tips. I usually have 1 -2 drinks a day ($22/day) and spend about $30 in the gift shops - gamble only with the cash I bring for that purpose, so for me alone my bill is usually about $250 for the cruise.

  5. Yes, they sell them in the gift shop - but those shops don't open until you are out to sea for a while. They have plain ones at Walmart for $2-$3 and a 12 pack of the holders that can be put on them for $1. I have two holders on mine, one for my card and one for a few $ cash and my driver's license.

  6. Since the first boarding time those without FTTF can choose in Galveston is 10:00, I would think if you want to be there to board as one of the first after Plats and Diamonds and weddings, that 10AM would be appropriate. We had a 10:30 time on the Triumph from there and arrived at about 10:50am walked straight thru all the check-ins and straight on to the boat so the FTTF had all already boarded before we got to the post check in area.

  7. Is it worth it if you can't drink alcohol?

I find this to be a strange question. The Chef's Table is a dining experience, not a drink to get your money's worth experience. The food and the chef's presentation of it is the star of the show. If you do not enjoy learning about how your food is prepared and don't enjoy spending a whole evening sampling an eclectic meal that is a feast for the eye - then probably you should save your money.

You should not let the menu dictate whether you attend or not, you will be pleasantly surprised at what you thought about a particular description and what the actual presentation became.

  8. I always put the cartons of soda in a rolling bag - they do open the cartons and so you sometimes have loose cans - you can mix and match - I like root been, coke and sprite so my 12 are usually 4 each of those. Everyone can have a 12 pack in the carry on. On our last cruise, even the three year old had a 12 pack - not for him but for my son-in-law, his father, who is a heavy soda drinker. We did, however, come home with some still in the bag.

  9. I want to know if there will be a thassalotherapy pool in the Cloud 9 Spa before I am willing to give up the Breeze - my favorite place to unwind! Loved it on the Magic, looking forward to it on the Breeze - Vista 1 only has a small hot tub instead. But ia am looking forward to all the extra places to dine on the Vista 1 when i sail on her in 2017.

  10. I always take the acrylic carnival cup from the gift shop that has its own straw - need to replace that cup this time - it served me faithfully for daily use the last two years. It took a dive off the kitchen cabinet and broke the seal around the inside cup.

  11. I didn't know they sold $12 towels. I have only ever purchased the blue towels like what they leave in the room, but they were at least $20 (someone said $22). Personally, I would get those towels, even if they cost a bit more, because we have used ours for years and they have held up very well.

They are talking about the towels and canvas bags purchased before your cruise from Bon Voyage to be in your cabin at embark. I bought the bag with two towels a year ago in March and love the towels. I have a pool and they are in use almost every day from April to October. They have been washed at least 50 times since purchase and they still look as good as the day I bought them - don't know what the other poster has done to them for them to fall apart - perhaps bleach??

  12. If I purchase a bottle of Scotch to be delivered to my room, will the make scotch glasses available? Do I need to go to the bar and ask for a glass for the drinks I purchase on board?

What about wine I bring on board, will the have wine glasses in the room?

You are probably better off going to a bar and choosing the type of glass you prefer. Asking a non-scotch drinker for a scotch glass may not get you what you want - and he/she would not have that on their cart, they would have to stop their work and go to a bar to get you one. They will have stemmed wine classes and the water glass for the bathroom on their carts.

  13. I received the same email and I'm curious about that too! We also have FTTF and chose the earliest check in time. So does that mean we will have to wait until 12:30 to actually board, or will they let us on earlier?

Sorry if this question seems dumb, I'm a first time cruiser. Thank you in advance for the clarification!!

You chose a check in time not a boarding time - with FTTF you will be allowed to board after the platinum and diamond cruisers and wedding parties - that will happen after the boat is emptied of earlier guests and the port has agreed to begin boarding new guests, sometimes the crew has to go through additional procedures that can delay boarding - this, sometimes, prompts the email you received.

  14. I did not know about this. Thanks!

There will be a large bottle in your room that is NOT free - sometimes the free bottle does not arrive until day 2 -it will be clearly labeled as your past guest gift bottle. It will have a hang tag on it with your name.

  15. I could see going to the steakhouse for dinner at 6 and then hitting the MDR for Bitter and Blanc afterwards if I had YTD.

We really liked YTD on the Magic, worked better generally than set dining did.

I agree - there was no "like" button for this. If it was bitter and blanc night, I would tell them the night before that I would be by for my b and b, after the steakhouse visit!

  16. Take a stroller, the baby will sleep a lot there while you enjoy the ship. Find an empty night club during the day so she can crawl around and get some energy out. Take some favorite toys. in the MDR, the first night, ask for a fruit plate - they will have one there for you every night there after so she can have some immediate snacks while waiting for other food.

  17. Sooo I've been eyeing a Vista cruise for Summer 2017, and with this "sale" CCL has going right now, the sailing I'm looking at is down $250 from the past 3 weeks of daily checking.

I'm going on the Miracle in July, and was planning on booking the Vista on the Miracle to get the OBC. Part of me is afraid the price will go back up after this "sale" and the OBC will be a moot point.

Any thoughts? I keep going back and forth with it... New ship, over a year until sailing, "sales" in the future.....

I have two cabins booked for the Vista in July of 2017 and even with this sale, our cabins (spa interior - is 200$ more than we paid and we have $50 OBC from the sale we booked under) and our Havana Cabana is 475$ more than when we booked.
