  1. WTH? Is this the correct thread for the above posts regarding Myanmar? SORRY!
  2. Why offer a cruise with a port where the State Department will not protect your pax, where travel insurance and evacuation insurance won't cover your pax? We, being the naïve folks we are, booked this trip thinking the cruise line would not knowingly take us to a Do Not Travel country. We will stay on the ship if we port in Myanmar. And we will always monitor the US Department of State's Travel Advisory before booking any cruise in the future. Lesson learned.
  3. Does one need to be seated at a table in a restaurant in order to use the house drink package or is the package available in bars during the hours that lunch and dinner are being served in the restaurants?
  4. Nope....from our experience, you will not get a non stop flight with O air. We gave them 4 itinerary requests and every one of them were rejected by O Air because the flights not part of the O's contract. There are many non stop flights from CDG to LAX each day and yet we were offered routings through JFK as well as several airports in Eastern Canada. Once you're in North America, your flight becomes Economy Cattle Class. Take the air credit and book the flight yourself.
  5. And there have been recent reports of increased unrest and violence in provinces near Bagan. I think O is patently dishonest about our docking in Myanmar.
  6. Shouldn't the US Department of State determine whether it is safe to visit a country rather than a cruise line's "contacts" on the ground?
  7. Why do some benefit from having the OLifeUltimate while others don't? O has had our $$ for months and when the OUltimate was offered several days ago, our TA was told by O that we already had enough discounts folded into our fare. So we are meant to sit across from our friends from the UK who can drink ad lib during meals and take all the excurisions they want while we are penalized for booking in advance? Yes, there was some $$ differences fares but really, our loyalty counts for nothing??? 23rd yoyage BTW....
  8. or if O says they've already given you enough discounts on your fare booked 18 moths ago for a 40 cruise whick gave you the OLife stuff re pick one of 3.
  9. Any idea which ones? If you can't post here could you email me?
  10. Hi Lyn, we're hanging in. We keep hoping our paths will cross..... I did bring this up to our TA. She just said that different countries have different promotions. I'm trying to be a a grown-up and hopefully will conquer my po'd feelings when our friends order their beer and wine at meals.
  11. I'm not seeing it....only OLife Choice.
  12. We live in the US. Our friends in the UK who are joining us have the 3 amenities included on their 20 day 10 May cruise which is the first segment of our 40 day cruise. This is their 2nd O cruise, our 22nd. Happy for them that they have excursions, drink package, and shipboard credit but we have the standard choice of 1. Seems a bit unbalanced.
  13. Those passengers who talk and laugh during the drill or show up 30 mins late to the drill are the same ones who disregard departure times for tours, return to the bus late, talk while the guide is explaining the tour sites etc. And I bet they're the ones that act like they've never eaten before in Terrace and Waves. Sorry....back to the topic of Muster Drill.....
  14. Wow! Have you seen the DIY cost of flights from Europe to the USA? SHOCKING!
  15. Oh my goodness sake...just drink it and be glad O gave you something for "free". If you don't want to try it, give it to your neighbor in the cabin next to you.
  16. We're not usually focused on Cruise Directors BUT! We really enjoyed Corey Powell on our extended cruise through the South Pacific. His Coreyoke is so fun and that's saying something because we don't regularly attend later night venues.
  17. Never understood those who stand right in front of elevator doors and barge in before those who are IN the elevator have a chance to exit. These are the same people who treat the buffet area in Terrace like it is a battlefield offering the last bite of food they will ever have.
  18. YIKES!!! This news about dangerous over crowding in the port at disembarkation, shortened port times, decline in food quality, and the poor A/C and overall maintenance of the ship is more than disturbing. We have followed Janecambirdge for quite awhile and have sailed with Paul and Mindy so trust their opinions and observations. Not happy to hear what their experiences were on their latest cruise. We are booked for 40 nights on Nautica in May and if we hadn't made Final Payment, we would cancel our booking based on their comments and of other pax on Marina and Regatta.
  19. Viking has a very relaxed policy: No corkage, no restriction re consuming alcohol in the public areas, no limit to bringing alcohol onboard.
  20. You have a refrigerator in your cabin as well as a sharps container. Can't see this as a problem. Remember there are diabetic passengers who use insulin and need a way to dispose of the needles and syringes. Your itinerary sounds great!
  21. I've never understood the anti-jeans sentiment. As long as the jeans and the person wearing them are clean, what's the big deal? Once you are sitting at the table, no one can see your jeans anyway.
  22. How is John doing now? Hoping for better news
