Does NY's WCBS reach your area? If so, you must be talking about Lonnie Quinn. He tries to look like he spent the last 18-24 hours in the office, never leaving his desk,  pouring over a mountain of data trying to get the exact forecast.  It's been a running joke for years. Some will even say the higher the sleeves are rolled up, the more snow we are getting. 😄

I remember Lonnie Quinn from when he was in Miami. Hurricanes/snow both seem to elicit the same response!

I just went outside. It feels cold. 😩

its been windy and cool here in So Flo all day. we are also under a high surf warning so you may be rocking and rolling as you approach PE tomorrow morning. I heard that only one ship made it into Nassau today (Disney Wish apparently). You might need a jacket tomorrow morning.

Glad you had a good time. I sailed on her shortly after her arrival in PE. Passenger count was only 30% so I do want want to sail again with more passengers to get a more normal "vibe". I did really enjoy the ship and ranked it equal with Allure. Can't beat Mama Mia.

Great that you got the ship model!

I’m having dinner at the ship’s Italian restaurant, which I’ve always liked. Some of my fellow Amurricans complain because it doesn’t serve “chicken parm,” but the menu is very like what I’ve experienced in Rome. I’m disappointed, however, that there’s no osso buco any more.

I grew up in Europe and never saw chicken parm until I came to US. Few years ago did a transatlantic ending in Rome with my American DH  and we stayed a few days after. DH was very disappointed that he could not get chicken parm. He told me that he thought I was joking when I said it's not really an Italian dish!

I heard some talk on the ship about a brawl that broke out in Freedom's casino and shortly after they shut down all the venues. Anyone heard anything? I think they said it is posted on "The book of the front of heads"

That's interesting, I was reading on my balcony this afternoon (just south of PE) and looked up and saw a royal ship. It was not an expected time or position so of course I looked it up on cruise tracker. It allegedly  was Freedom heading to Bimini having just left port Miami. I thought at the time that it must have been a med evac but maybe not.  Didn't think it went to Bimini and track is very interesting.

Population of Bimini is about 2000!

I learned today that the Coast Guard was too busy to assume custody of the two refugees at sea and they are now on US soil.  If I recall, touching US soil means they can stay and not fear return to Cuba.

The wet foot/dry foot policy for Cuban migrants has been terminated. Now all migrants are treated equally and most are returned to country of origin eventually.

  6. There has been an influx of refugee boats in South Florida over the last two weeks. I live beachfront and a small "vessel" beached 3 weeks ago near me. I cannot believe that people are willing to go to sea in such vessels in an attempt to get the freedom we take for granted.

Wonder if they ever spot sharks in this area?

There are sharks in this area but most of the sightings are later in the year when the water is warmer. Late May and June there are usually shots from the news helicopters of sharks migrating just offshore. its very rare for any shark/human interaction in this area, most "bites" occur further north.

This time of year its not unusual to see manatees swimming to in the ocean around the warm water areas of FPL power stations.

Enjoy your time here. looking forward to your adventure starting.

Yesterday was busy, but didn't turn out the way I thought it might.  First of all, we had a phone call that DH's aunt passed away at age 97.  She had been in frail health for the past few months, so it wasn't a surprise.  Then a couple of hours later, I found out a cousin of mine had suffered a fatal stroke at age 75.  Later in the afternoon, our son called to say that his DW's grandmother passed away in Japan; nobody seems to know just how old she is, but she is in her 90's.   I've heard that things come in 3's, and I've subscribed to that theory, but never thought they would all come on the same day.

Condolences to you and your extended family. Almost too much to bear on one day.
