They put a brand new ship doing 3 and 4 day cruises.  I can't see a better way of promoting a brand new class called discovery designed to do ports that other ships can't get to than by sending her on a world cruise.  Plus, having a new ship do yje world cruise will drive demand not only for the full voyage but also the segments.

I should start a UWC cruise fund now!!

I factored that in as well, BUT that doesn’t explain why they are canceling stops in 2024.

Looks like Celebrity is still stopping in Bimini.

Agree with renting the golf cart and Island touring. Many years ago I used to seaplane from Miami to Bimini for the weekend. it has changed somewhat but still is very special.

We are back, and the road of life that we were traveling on, ended with this doc.  No surgery. (which is what the oncologist said would happen)  and then we find out through this visit, that there is a tumor on the right jaw, and no one will do surgery ever.. Each doc we have been to,  to resolve one problem has told us of more problems, the tumor today, the kidney problems last week, and while this was a new young doc, he knew immediately that DH's thinking ability is pretty much gone.

All DH could focus on was a single front tooth that was getting looser, and the doc pulled it this morning. Bang, out. Well at least he cant complain that the tooth hurts or that its loose, or have to pay the oral surgeon I saw,  any money.  This doc pulled it, and said, it was on the house.  I told DH to put the tooth under his pillow and the tooth fairy will come by.  DH was about to walk out as we had waited an hour for him to show up.  The doc did tell him that he had no idea why he was there.  And if DH put his faith in his oncologist, he would not have been.  But, if the MRI shows more cancer, (which is what the radiologist's nurse told me is happening) they will probably take DH off of the immunotherapy and put him back on chemo.

So it is what it is.  Last night DH asked me if I had moved the furniture.  We have lived in this house 21 years, the sofa, has been replaced, but nothing was moved.  This way with his bad eye sight he wont trip over anything, he should know where everything is. but recently I installed a night light in the bedroom, as he has been ending up on my side of the bed thinking that way lead to the door, but he will be trying to open the closet. Again, the mattress was replaced, but that's all.  So I dont know if he knows where he is half the time.

So sorry to hear this news. Now that his accelerating medical issues have been addressed maybe he (and you) can get some support to make his remaining  time more comfortable. You guys have been through so much over the last few months especially.

So sad to see Jasper on fire. We stayed at the Whistler Inn down the street from the Maligne Lodge for a few days in 2006.

It is very sad, I have stayed at both places in Jasper and have such great memories of time spent there, Hopefully the elk usually seen wandering around town are safe.

Thanks for the clarification. I had read that she was the first female cruise ship captain but the article did not state American.

In 2011,  Lis Lauritzen became the second woman to captain a Royal Caribbean ship when she was named captain of the Vision of the Seas.

I sailed the Vison 3 times when she was Captain, her bridge tours were great and she was a frequent visitor to the Concierge Lounge (as it was known then) She was petite and according to DH looked too young to be "in charge"

A few months ago or maybe longer, a few people recommended a private company for Rome.  I cant remember the name. I am looking to find a driver to take us from the port (Civi) and around Rome. Dont need to go in anywhere, just a drive by will be fine.

      Any suggestions? Thanks!

I used Romelimo when I was there and was very satisfied.

  7. @Sea Dog Greg, a biopsy while invasive and not something to have on your bucket list will give you more information to make treatment decisions. If negative continue with checking PSA, If positive, the Gleason Score will help guide further treatment decisions as you will know how aggressive the cancer is. This is obviously very worrying but it is not an emergency so take the time to make the right decision for you,

DH is home, and glad to be out of the hospital bed, but no one told him the surgery was a failure. Until I did.  He is not a happy hubby.

This happens with my DH too, he just doesn't remember anything in the post op setting. He has been told things in my presence that he says he understands at the time, but has no recollection of the discussion later. At least the staff usually include me in all the instructions so I can tell him later when he asks why he has bandages and bruises!!

Hope you can get some rest soon.

Hope I can help with the short cruise real-ness. 😉

When I was working I took many 3 night cruises on the Majesty. Now due to DH's medical issues/treatments we can only take weekend cruises. Have been sailing freedom class but when Royal moved Allure to Miami and started 3/4 day cruises I decided to go for it. There's always Schooner Bar and Trellis Bar to keep me occupied 🍹
