  1. Sure doesn’t sound like it was very well done by either the cruise line (did they tell passengers new report times? Not based on the account of the OP) Did they handle traffic well? Again, does not seem like it. I have been in ports where ships are debarking and collecting luggage for the next cruise at the same time. Sure it is a lot of people, but the handle it. It sounds to me like the experience could have been improved for the passengers.
  2. Usually approved by a hand-picked BOD with little regard for any concerns of any average shareholders. Make money, get a bonus. Miss your goal, get a bonus. Lose your butt, get a bonus. Life at the top is great.
  3. Yeah, signatures are out of control. I turned them off and scrolling became so much quicker.
  4. The bonuses show no regard for any of the three groups mentioned in the post you quoted.
  5. We stay on VRBOs every year. Most often, we are in the Florida Keys. My wife, a self-confessed washaholic, never lets clothes or towels go unwashed for more than a few hours. We did a men’s trip last year and I did the same—everyone’s clothes and towels were clean by morning. I did not fold anything, though. I like fresh towels every time I shower on trips. I enjoy that little bit of pampering. I like twice a day service in cabins. It just adds a little feel of pampering to the trip. I don’t so tents any more. That ended with my Marine Corps career. Lots do, of course, and more power to them. I do stay in rustic shelter when hunting and that is okay, too.
  6. Most of my refunds came within two weeks or less of canceling items and cruises. I have not had one take more than that yet…they do take longer than most normal settlements, though…there is no good reason for that since it should be an automated process once they cancel your cruise or purchase.
  7. I use a lot of extra towels when I am in spaces with smoking allowed. Extra showers to get the stench off when at casinos, for example. Let them smoke; let me rid of the smell. Also the beach resorts… I hate sand. I like twice a day service for towels at hotels and on ships. I use towels more than once at home but I do have four towels in use each week. I like towels being dry when I use them. Service is an important part of the relaxing vacation experience. The decline of service and increase in prices may dictate more of other kinds of vacations…like fishing for a week and washing my own stuff as needed!
  8. I think some people say they don’t tip in these threads just to troll people. Some really don’t tip. Some lie. Some tip extra. Some like the idea of giving their money to the person giving them great service and are not concerned if that person does or does not have to split the tip. I am trying to pick which one to be on our next cruise.
  9. It sounds like they are charging set prices for extending services and refunding the amount paid for services decreased with the shorter new cruise. They can figure out one and not the other...consistent inconsistency...
  10. In a crisis, the “Word” too often does not get to everyone. There is often confusion. Calling people liars about what they did or did not hear is just plain ridiculous.
  11. It does seem to be a miracle that he survived. I was taught to "tread water" both in swimming lessons and in the Marine Corps; sometimes doing it for extended periods of time but nowhere near the hours (duh...) of this incident. There is another technique we were taught at some point known as "drownproofing" at the time (could have a different name or be outdated by now...this was all years ago) which used much less energy than treading water and made longer periods of staying afloat possible without exhaustion. Perhaps he knew, or figured it our during the ordeal, how to do that. Still incredible...no mater how he did it. That is a long time to be in the water... We will see how much more comes out about this story.
  12. What was the question asked? Well, maybe CS should ask things like “what cruise are you/what is your booking number”…and then find the correct info to help the customer. Maybe the customers can do better…but CS is not really a stellar part of the Royal Experience. Royal sure does love our money, though!
  13. I am sorry that this huge line cannot figure out how to actually help customers looking for, but not finding, the right answer. I know plenty will give you the “it is all your fault answer” but Royal should at least have someone to route calls to people who can help instead of people that just give answers and that may or may not be helpful. That kind of answer should be the province of social media sites like this. C-19 has caused a lot of confusion and many (though no one here it seems) have trouble finding the exactly correct answer to their requirement questions. A C-19 policy expert to correctly answer questions or provide web sites would be a good thing. I am a Royal fan but I find the answers from agents baffling at times. Good luck to you! I really do like these boards but sometimes…
  14. Is there anything that states you can bring someone with you in line? There are some with airlines allowing access for specific customers (on the same reservation, for example). The clear intent of the special boarding line is to provide a perk to those who paid or earned the perk. Enjoy your cruise!
  15. Fill out the form. Send it in. Wait for nothing to happen. Get to your cabin and nothing will be there—no extension cord or distilled water. Ask your stateroom attendant. They will take care of it. Just my experience.
  16. What C&A levels do you need to study for prior to testing to obtain them? Correcting people with some snipe added seems to be a hobby around here. It is kind of fun.
  17. Whatever would people snipe about if everyone just googled first?
  18. One thing I really missed during the weird times was the cruise ships passing by us when we were offshore fishing out of the Keys (we stay in Marathon/Key Colony Beach). We did not get down this year; I will enjoy seeing them again next summer! It gets me thinking of cruising…
  19. Our daughter got TSA Pre a few days before she took several flights (BWI-HOU, HOU-DAL, AUS-BWI) in a week. She declared it the best $85 she ever spent after years of regular security processing (she has flown regularly since she was 7-8 and is now 25). My wife had a similar experience and put off getting until I had it for a couple of years since the office for processing here is not close. Again, she loves it. The longest wait time for me is the delay until some moves to operate the scanner. Joint replacements don’t work with the x-ray in most cases.
  20. If they really are that good, why would they not try to make them the same across the fleet? It isn’t rocket science; it is a sandwich.
  21. If you have ever had a good Beef on Weck in Buffalo, or elsewhere, you would be very disappointed with the one they were serving on Grandeur during our August cruise. Their version of the Park Cafe was in the Solarium, which seemed like a poor location…but it is a small ship so they only have so much room…
  22. It is a business. I am hopefully businesses allow personal choice once again. I would say based on the science but…
  23. I would hope that the Captains, or whoever is given the power to establish a policy on masks, allows crew members to make their own choices on masking or not masking moving forward. I have lived in places where many wore masks on a regular basis and it never bothered me; why would I worry about what someone else does now? Mandates and overreach are real but someone deciding to keep masking is none of my business.
  24. That is all fine, but the rule should either be enforced or not in general. The issues that are seen are more than just one off issues. If you tell people you want them to do something and you let them do whatever they want instead, you are just wasting everyone’s time. The other situations (one offs) will happen. I get that. In general, giving people who disregard rules an advantage by letting the due what they want to do leads to more people disregarding they rules. Either way, enforce it or get rid of it.
  25. You missed the point. If you have a rule, enforce it. If you are not going to enforce a rule, get rid of it. Simple enough. If you decide to enforce it, people can decide where they want to wait. The rest of your post was in agreement with what I posted about spacing.
