  1. I have been out for my walk and on the way back down our road the 6 year old twins who live a few houses up stopped me to ask "Are you OK because we haven't seen you for nearly a week and mum said that we can't come to knock on your door and pester you because she has seen you when we were at school but we have been told be school that we have to look out for old people when it is cold". I wonder how old they think I am ?
  2. It was very misty earlier but now it is a cold but bright morning here, We are just trying to decide whether or not to go out for a walk. I was up at 5:30 peeling vegetables to go into the crockpot with lamb shanks for lunch so the kitchen smells lovely now. DH has only just managed to drag himself out of bed. The ads in threads is only happening on my phone, my Kindle and laptop are not affected. Have a good day.
  3. I had to go out early this morning and the weather was cold but fine, when I came out of the church hall an hour later it was snowing so a fun 2 mile drive home. I was almost home when I found the road impassable because there was a fountain in the road rather than the manhole cover that had been there earlier so I had to do a detour. I got home to a message on the answerphone letting me know that a bracelet that I had left at the jewellers to have a new clasp put on was ready to pick up so I then went out again intending to park on the Tesco carpark which turned out to be flooded in some places so it was a drive round looking for an non-flooded space.
  4. Happy St David's day to all you Welsh people out there. When I went out to take the monsters to school it was snowing but by the time we got to school it had changed to rain and the queue to get to the drop off point was about 100 yards up the road and then winding around the school drive. I love that the children who usually walk to school get their parents or some other family member to drive them in when it rains. We walked to school regardless of the weather.
  5. It's bad enough to be sharing with my husband I definitely wouldn't want to share with anyone else 🤣🤣
  6. I could understand the offer if the cruise still had available cabins but this is completely sold out. I always mark the booking as "No Upgrade" because we have cruised often enough to know where we like to be on the ship and that may not be where the cruise line to be the best position.
  7. This is not really P&O but it made me smile. I just got an email from Princess inviting us to bid for an upgrade on our upcoming cruise, which is sold out on all grades of cabin. I was already concerned that we might have made an error booking when I realised that it would be school holidays. I wonder if we are going to arrive at Southampton to find that we are sharing our cabin with strangers ? 😱
  8. Back from the school run and they are not celebrating an extra school day🤣 The boy had an interview last night at the college that he has chosen to go to do A levels in September, I asked how it went and he said that he has to do an A+ course because based on his predicted GCSE results and his plan to study medicine they believe that the A+ course will be better suited to him. He is a bit disappointed because he won't be with his friend who he has been with since they were 3 and in nursery.
  9. Sitting waiting for the teens to wander downstairs ready for school. I just shouted up to them that it is a leap year so they need to leap from the top of the stairs to celebrate having an extra school day this year.🤣
  10. Worked withour dogs everytime and all but one cat but our last cat could manage to eat the cheese then spit out the tablet, I tried crushing tablets up and mixing with her wet food but she would just leave her food and punish us by bringing mice into the house. It turned into a 2 person job to catch her, wrap her into an old towel so that I could hold her. Then force her mouth open and throw the tablet into her throat, hold her mouth shut and stroke her throat to make her swallow.
  11. Not that we can see in the instruction book, I have started to put my foot on the accelerator when it slows down too early to force it to keep going.
  12. My niece's husband has been round spent approximately 2 minutes solving the leak in the bathroom and then an hour chatting to us. His son, who I see every day, hadn't mentioned to me that he has been predicted to get 9 Grade 9s in his GCSEs and has had interviews at both local colleges and been offered places at both. Dad is so proud and we know that his mum would have been proud of him too.
  13. I have only driven automatics when I worked in France and USA before this car and I never had an issue with them. This car is smooth enough but I really hate the way that it brakes if it recognises a car braking about 3 or 4 metres ahead even when I am only travelling at 5 miles per hour because of traffic conditions. Every time that I have my 13 year old know it all niece with me and I say "stupid car" because it brakes unnecessarily she tells me that it is safety feature
  14. Welcome back Sorry to hear about you mum's health issues. It sounds like you are in need of a nice cruise. The Flam railway trip is lovely but I'm not sure about the cycling down
  15. As I have already said we were foolish enough to buy a Hybrid and after 6 months we have already started to think about which new petrol car we will buy in September and will be taking a closer look at Mazda and VW.
  16. It is a cold frosty morning here and It looks like it might be one of those sort of days. I noticed when I went into to our bathroom last night that there was a bit of water lying on grouting between the floor tiles next to the basin so I mopped it up but it is back again this morning so I pulled off the kickboard and had a look and there was a small amount of water underneath so we obviously have a leak. I have just texted my niece's husband to ask him to call around to take a look but that it isn't urgent because he is a plumber and he has just texted back that he will call round after work. I will see if the children want to have dinner with us tonight as dad will be coming here.
  17. We have been on Aurora 5 times and are looking forward to being on her again later this year. There is something about her that appeals to us even though she getting on in years now. The last time we were on her to the Northern Lights in 2021.
  18. Shropshire is a beautiful county to visit, I would definitely go for Shrewsbury though there are probably many people who would say the opposite.
  19. It is a bright sunny but cold morning with just a few clouds here. My sister has just texted me to let me know that she forgot to take her grandson's blazer back after washing it over the weekend so do I want her to take him and his sister to school, I don't know why she would think I might say no when it means that I can stay inside where it is warm.
  20. We did this last year and were told that 11am was check out time and couldn't be changed so we checked out at 11am and went into Southampton and took a look around the shops until it was time to go to the docks.
  21. Just to add to my moans about the Yaris, on the way to pick the children to take them to school a red battery shaped warning light came on. After dropping the children off I filled the car up and when I restarted the light had gone off. I have called Pinkstones thinking that I had an intermittent problem but the red light apparently means that "the car needs a good run and if it doesn't go off after that then book it in to be checked over" so it seems that going to school and then to Tesco, a total of 4 miles constitutes a good run and solved the problem. DH has just said that this week has been unusual because I was ill and didn't go to my craft group meeting on Monday so the car did not get it's usual 12 miles round trip so it probably isn't an intermittent problem.
  22. We finally have a dry morning for the school run, I just hope it lasts. It is "Sisters Lunch" today and a chance to see one of the grandchildren because one of them is looking after her grandaughter while the parents are at work. My sister says that she isn't looking forward to September when the granddaughter will be able to go to the creche attached to the school where her mum teaches.
