  1. No hoops to jump through. Simple form readily available at guest services. I was behind someone at guest services on my 2020 Encore sailing who, I believe, removed their DSC entirely. It was 5:45am and the Atrium was empty (I was on my way to the gym) and the crew member didn't even ask why they were adjusting/removing the DSC. Just handed the guest a form and helped me while the guest filled it out. I will say that paying almost $1000 at the end is a lot. Maybe there should be a descending scale for the 3rd and 4th passengers in a cabin or a cap. I'm sailing Getaway in April for 10 days and my daughter will be the 3rd in our cabin so I've already budgeted that $600 plus I'm already putting aside singles and 5 dollar bills for additional tipping/bribing. Lmao 😂 88 days and counting for me!
  2. Kill Bill volume 2 is the superior Kill Bill movie
  3. I believe it's more at the pier. Code is CCAI I don't know if it still works but it did last week. I'm sailing Getaway April 19th.
  4. Actually, the parking at MCT for 10 days is 315 plus a fee of $9+. I purchased parking a few weeks ago and that was what it came to, $324. I ended up canceling and rebooking as someone on the other website posted a coupon code that made it $292 total.
  5. One of the greatest guitarists that I've ever seen and I've seen most of them. Just an awesome performer!
  6. I received the same package on Joy this past July. Very nice! I did miss the cocktail 🍹 reception. BTW for whoever said Fort Polk was the armpit, I contend that Fort Bliss was. I served from 1984 - 1988 and spent about 6 months at Bliss before heading to Germany for 3 years. I used to feel a little uncomfortable too when I was thanked for my service as I served during peacetime and had a lot of fun traveling all over. I'm sailing Getaway in April and I expect the package will be waiting for me again.
  7. It is not worth it to you but it is to many. In fact, it's in such demand, that up until recently people would literally run to wherever the passes were sold and most were turned away as they were sold out within minutes. Now, maybe because of the commotion, they sell the passes pre cruise and still sell out. I've been on 4 NCL sailings since 2018 and Vibe was sold out on every one. There's big demand it seems at every price point!!
  8. This has been my dilemma too. We are always sailing with a group and that sometimes includes people on a budget or people with children and my wife will NEVER separate from her friends and family. In April, we're sailing on Getaway and it'll just be me, my wife and my daughter so I booked us Vibe for 10 days and I'm really excited to experience it.
  9. LMAO!!!! There are theories about the name that my grandmother told me about many years ago, as her family owned a candy store in Brooklyn almost 100 years ago. You can google the theories. As far as them being anything like yoohoo or fake shakes from MCD, that's crazy talk!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. 9:30 or 10pm We're starting to get sleepy by then but we plow through. Lmao 😂
  11. That is super tight. Lmao! I'd be a little nervous as you'd have to be done by 7:15. This is why we almost always book the late showtimes. One time, I think on Escape, we had a similar window to get to a show so we went to Taste/Savor and only ordered apps. We ordered a bunch of them, they came fast, and we were out of there in less than an hour. Of course we sought out dessert after the show. Lol!
  12. They've done it on all 4 of my most recent sailings, including Joy this past July. By around 6am you'll see coffee set up at both bars on the Waterfront. Also, you'll see a similar set up at Spice, on the ships that have it anyway. At Spice they'll have juice too.
  13. While I don't necessarily disagree with your take on the bribe/tip disagreement here, I do disagree that it would be considered insulting. I've done the pre tip/bribe many, many times over the years on cruises and other places too. If it was truly insulting, I would have had at least one of these people give me back my money and tell me so. Nobody has given me back my money, nobody has said anything and everyone seemed happy to receive said money. What's different about the cruise pre tip/bribe is that you are spending, typically, 7 days with the crew and early tips/bribes are a way to build a relationship with a crew member or members for that period of time. It's awesome being remembered and getting that smile and a little conversation when you see these people over the course of your sailing. I'm a big believer in doing this and it makes me and my family happy too. My adult daughter and other family members do it now too, because they saw me do it over the years. Here's a question for you that I just thought of. When I get to the pier, there's a porter there waiting to take my luggage. I always give the porter some money. This porter receives a salary or hourly wage and his/her job is to get luggage to a certain location. Is the money I'm giving this porter a tip or a bribe?
  14. I'm so happy not to have to wear anything formal. I think it was my Encore sailing that I didn't even bring long pants. Strictly nice shorts with a short sleeve button down or solid t-shirt. And I know you were being facetious. Lmao!!
  15. With all due respect, I have read a countless amount of your posts on here over the years, but I'm stunned with how wrong this comment is. It's 100% untrue and insulting to so many on here. I know someone already commented on this (and thank you for your service), but I felt this very bad take needed to be mentioned again.
  16. No need for apologies. I am not the least bit perturbed. As you said, just opinions.
  17. I disagree with much of what you're saying here, but appreciate the detailed reply. Happy Sailing!!
  18. In theory, I 100% agree with you and have never "adjusted" my DSC. I disagree that adjusting the DSC is "trying to reprice your cost". We must be the very few lucky ones that always has a great cruise and almost always has positive crew interactions, especially on our NCL sailings. So much so that we're sailing Getaway in April. With that being said, NCL would not provide the option of adjusting the DSC, if it wasn't a similar concept as tipping in a land based restaurant. I understand that there are many more people behind the scenes on a cruise ship (and nobody knows if they get any of the DSC anyway), but there are people behind the scenes in a land based restaurant that participate in the 15 or 20% besides the waiter that could affect the way you judge the service and could affect how much you tip. I'm just saying that if you're disappointed with the level of service received on a cruise, NCL provides you an avenue to show that disappointment.
  19. I've done it and I'm doing it again in April. Wife, myself and adult daughter. The key is the bathroom. It's a great size for a cruise ship.
  20. I agree! Was on Joy this past July and had the soft serve a couple of times and it was fine. Was it Carvel good? No! But it wasn't watery or icy and it hit the spot, as they say.
  21. I'm a boozer who never does less than a 7 day sailing. Doing 10 in April. I hit the sack around 11pm and I'm up at 5:30 so I can go to the gym and then get my boozing started again. Rinse and repeat. Kind of like Groundhog Day! Lmao 😂 And I only drool while I'm drinking 🍻
  22. You asked why it's double the price and I told you, as most on here already have. You're not choosing between comparable cruises.
  23. As you and everyone else in this thread has proven, you're not comparing apples to apples. NCL has FAS, RCCL does not NCL has 2 more stops, RCCL does not NCL ship is 10 years newer NCL sailing is August, RCCL is end of September If none of this is important to you, then you should choose RCCL!!
  24. Lmao! I know I'm messing it up for myself. We went, at least, 3 times this past July on Joy. Sometimes for first breakfast, sometimes for 2nd!
