  1. I know because in all of my years on CC and reading Bird's posts, she has never claimed to work for NCL. And if she doesn't work for NCL, she doesn't know. And, I didn't skip over anything. You made a statement, then I made a statement. You made another statement, then so did I. And what was drawn is not plausible in my humble and reasonable opinion.
  2. With all due respect, Bird has no insight here. She doesn't have the blueprints for the Joy refurb and there is zero evidence that anything will ever be done with the other observation lounges on the other ships. This thread is only providing agita to the not so experienced who believe almost anything.
  3. I believe so. Right by the internet help desk in the Atrium.
  4. I totally agree with you! It's just that the examples you used were finite items. A dozen eggs, a gallon of gas, etc. And I never upgrade to plus either. I'm totally satisfied with the standard fas.
  5. While I understand your point, your analogy is extremely flawed. I loved my cruise in July on Joy. It was a great experience! But, there were some cutbacks, mostly minor for me, so I agree with those that say that we're paying more for less. And I might be paying twice as much for my dozen eggs, but I do come home with 12 eggs 🥚. Lmao!
  6. You definitely shouldn't be blasted for how you want to conduct yourself on your vacation. Especially when you're following the rules. With that being said, I always tip my cabin steward on the first day and have been doing it for many years. We sailed Joy in July, after service was reduced to once per day, and I tipped our steward within 10 minutes of entering our cabin and I provided him with a short list of items that we'd like to have done. We had one of our best cabin experiences on this sailing and our steward was phenomenal! I don't know for sure that our extra tip led to our exceptional service, but I did speak with many other cruisers on our sailing and nobody said that there cabins weren't cleaned at all on some days.
  7. As far as I can tell, nothing has really changed, except that everything has gone up in price. I sailed Joy in July and while it was more than I paid the previous year, it was still a tremendous value compared to any land based vacations. I just booked a 10 day on Getaway for next April and I'm paying approximately $175 per day/per person. That's with all the FAS perks. That's just ridiculous value, as far as I'm concerned! I'll drink that much by dinnertime every day! Lmao!! I've compared pricing/value to other lines and it's all very similar to what I remember it being pre covid. Sometimes more, sometimes less. I'm certainly not confining myself to one cruiseline, but I could not find better value for when I want to sail next year and I looked at Royal, Celebrity and MSC. 210 days until Getaway!!
  8. As soon as you book, I believe. I booked getaway for next April 250 days in advance and I booked vibe passes a couple of days later.
  9. It's very difficult to do what you're asking as the showtimes can change from sailing to sailing.
  10. I'd rather they offer Cagney's 7 Layer Cake in the mdr's instead! That I'd pay for. My family has grown tired of Cagney's and it's slightly above average food, but we love the 7 layer cake. Has anyone just gone to Cagney's for dessert? That would be of interest to us. Lmao!!
  11. I recently booked Getaway for next April and Syd's was a major draw for us. It's a 10 day sailing and I'll try and see/hear every show. I see the 2 negative reviews from June and I'm surprised. Syd's, almost universally, gets solid to great reviews.
  12. I usually do! I did a review of Joy when I returned in July of this year and I really enjoyed there entertainment too. Thanks again!
  13. I'm 100% certain you will get the obc if you have a statement in your name with the shares listed. It does not matter what type of account it is.
  14. I love your list!! I just booked Getaway for next April and one of the reasons is because the shows will be new to me and I've heard great things. Million Dollar Quartet always gets great reviews and is definitely up my alley and Syd's is someplace I might never leave. Lmao!! I love live music and it just sounds awesome. Not to mention that Rumours was the first record I ever purchased in 1977. Yes I'm old!!! Also, up until I go on Getaway, Choir of Man has been my favorite since I saw it the first time on Escape in the supper club in 2018 on my wife's birthday. And she got called up on stage to get serenaded to on the stool. One of my all time favorite cruise evenings!
  15. At 6am you'll find coffee set up at Spice H2O and on the Waterfront. Really nice quiet spots for some coffee and watching the ocean go by.
  16. I sailed Joy 7/23 and the breakfast was $4.95 + 20% gratuity regardless of how much you ordered. I had some obc so we did it twice and it was very nice. I like to use the breakfast card as a sort of wake up call. I'll put 7am and we'll get up when we get that knock on the door.
  17. I had my ice bucket filled daily. It was one of my requests. It cost zero and while it did melt eventually, it was still good for me when we returned to our cabin in the late afternoon to get ready for the evening. And, a couple of times, we saw our steward as we departed for the evening and we'd mention the ice and we had more when we returned. Excellent experience on the Joy in July!!
  18. It absolutely is adults only and, as I said earlier, I've never experienced a problem with kids being there during the day on any of my 3 sailings with Spice.
  19. I just sailed Joy 7/23 and had zero issue with once a day cabin service. I provided our cabin steward, within 15 minutes of entering our cabin, a list of things I'd like to have done. He was terrific and took care of everything between the first and second day. One of the items was to provide us with 4 extra (large) towels so we didn't have to reuse towels on days I or my wife went to the gym and showered twice. This request was taken care of the very first day and I never had to ask again. We had extra towels left on our sofa every day. Your issues seem to be the result of a not so great cabin steward and I would have gone to guest services on day 2 to make your feelings known. It's nice that your trip was not ruined over this. You're better than most folks on here. Lmao!! I had a great sailing on Encore in 2020 and the service was great!
  20. I've sailed Joy twice in the last 2 years and Escape in 2018 and I never saw an abundance of kids in Spice. I'm not sure I saw any. Just last month on Joy I spent time in the giant whirlpool and there were definitely no kids in there. The area does get crowded on sea days, but I believe the kids mostly stay away.
  21. I guess I'm perplexed why you would choose a ship with so many amenities for kids when you clearly dislike them. I feel for you with the port change. Definitely some bad luck there. We sailed Joy at the end of July and had a fabulous time. We, also love Bermuda and have visited many times. With regards to Spice, I'm surprised by the kids comment. We didn't hang out there more than 2 times, but we never really saw kids that weren't supposed to be there. Also, we stayed away from the side with smoking and never smelled anything while we were at sea. And the screen in Spice is used for many things and only blocks some of the sea view. There's plenty of space to look out at the sea while sailing back there.
  22. Just to add to what I've written previously, I'd suggest that everyone looking at specialty dining should peruse the menus prior to booking reservations. I agree with many on here who feel that LeBistro is best, overall. My dilemma is that my wife likes very little on their menu. I don't believe she likes any of the entrees and very few of the starters. My point is that you should make sure that there is enough to choose from for the many picky eaters out there.
