As others have said, you should have no issue booking (or confirming/editing) dining and entertainment after boarding. The caveat being that you board earlier, rather than later. My last 3 sailings on NCL (Escape, Encore & Joy), I booked everything as soon as I embarked and had zero issues. Also, we had standard internet package and it worked. Not great, but it worked. My daughter just sailed Escape at the end of May and enjoyed it thoroughly, so don't let others make you nervous. Escape is a great ship and I'm sure you'll have an epic time!!

Thanks for the info. We have two 5 year olds in our group sailing Joy on July 23rd and the parents are looking forward to them participating in Splash Academy. I believe they'd like them to go to the morning and evening sessions, if possible. My wife will probably be doing late night babysitting, which is why we were invited. Lmao!! Please continue to provide all this good information!

I checked in for my 7/23 Joy sailing a few days ago and haven't received one of those emails either.

I'm sailing Joy in 20 days in cabin 13216. A Club Balcony Suite. Any idea of the bed location? I prefer bed by the balcony. Had a Club Balcony Suite last summer on Joy and bed was next to closet with very little room. Not a big deal but you said that you might know. TIA

But why jump to that conclusion in a thread where the op is looking for specific information about comedy reservations? As I said, you pulled one sentence from a helpful reply and set me up as a villain. And then you defend yourself without even apologizing for your incorrect accusation or wishing me a nice time on my upcoming sailing. The pandemic really did a number on people's manners! It's really getting harder and harder to help people on here without someone looking to point out faults in your comments. Just saying..... 21 days until another great cruise!!

Thanks for the input and jumping to conclusions. While I understand how you would come to that conclusion based upon my post, it proves why these forums lead people to constant bickering. I have no intention of keeping 2 reservations for each show. It was midnight when I did our online check-in and my wife was already asleep for hours. When she awakens this morning, I will discuss with her the days and times that I reserved and she will choose which "one" she wants to go to. I will then call and cancel the others. No harm. No foul. Thanks again for pointing out my indiscretion. As a fairly experienced cruiser, I was just trying to be helpful by stating my experience with reservations. I would never want to take away from a fellow passengers experience. You focused on 1 sentence and decided I was an irresponsible cruise passenger. I'm not!

Just did my online check-in at exactly 21 days out for my Joy sailing. I was then able to book Footloose and Elements. I actually booked 2 different showings of each so my wife can choose. Comedy shows were not available for booking so I'll be heading straight to the Social when I board to book those and then I'll walk across to Teppenyaki and iron out dining reservations. Getting excited! 21 Days!

Definitely couldn't book Beatles shows. Cavern or theater. We booked Footloose, Elements and a couple of comedy shows. Really simple.

This is the way I remember it from last summer. I'm sailing Joy again in 22 days so I'll see if it's the same.

Last summer we made dining reservations in Teppenyaki after boarding. It was the same on Encore and Escape. We went to FR for lunch without a reservation so can't speak on that. Tonight at midnight is online check-in time for me! 22 days!

Since I'm doing this exact cruise in 23 days and I'm from Long Island, I'll be following along closely. Have a fabulous time!

FR was the only specialty restaurant open for lunch last summer on Joy. I believe it was only open on sea days. I went once on a sea day and it was terrific and I plan on doing it again in 23 days when I sail Joy again.

No dueling pianos, unfortunately. But plenty of good entertainment!

I'd like to hear about that too. We booked the 2 hour catamaran sunset sailing in Bermuda through NCL. You can book on your own, but if you have free at sea and get the $50 excursion credit, it works out better that way. We're excited for the sunset cruise! Leaving on Joy in 24 days!!

Lmao!! Yeah, I don't blame you. I don't know if they offer the "upgrade" after boarding. You definitely can purchase a dining package for 2 meals for $118, but that's not considered an upgrade. I was worried about being cut off which is why I purchased the upgrade a few days ago. We're sailing Joy in 24 days!

You're so lucky! I've been wanting Vibe passes for the last couple of cruises I've gone on, but we always go with a group and we can never get everyone to do it and my wife won't do it without everyone. We're sailing Joy in 24 days and our group of 13 includes 4 young children so I'm foiled again. Oh well. Someday I'll get a chance. Lmao!!

Excellent idea! I love FR! Did lunch there last summer with my daughter and her bf on Joy. We used 1 dining credit for 4 items, and then we purchased 3 other items to supplement and we had more than enough food for lunch. I enjoyed it so much that I just purchased the 2 dining credit upgrade just for myself so that I can do that again in 24 days on Joy with my niece and nephew.

When I sailed Joy last summer the OL was like a piano bar. I believe every night but not sure about that.

My favorite meal on Encore was at Los Lobos. Everything we had was terrific!

Totally agree! My daughter just sailed on Escape for the 2nd time and loved Howl and Choir of Man. I missed both on Joy last summer but, as I said earlier, there is a lot of very good entertainment still.

I'm aware. And someone played piano in the OL too. I was answering specifically about Howl at the Moon. That is 100% not on Joy.

I just booked the specialty dining upgrade for $82.80 I only booked it for myself and not my wife as I plan on sharing lunch at Food Republic and sharing a quick dinner at Q before a sunset catamaran excursion in Bermuda. 25 days till Joy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm guessing it's one of the many website issues that NCL has pretty frequently. Give it a while and try again. I'm actually looking to get this too for my sailing in 25 days, so I'll be trying myself later today.

Thanks for the recs! I love chicken salad but I've never tried it at the Local/Osheehans. I'll remedy that in 25 days when I board Joy. And I love the idea of the dessert fruit and cheese plate for an app. Something else I plan on trying on my sailing. Thanks again!!

I've never heard anyone say they hated the OL! I liked it better on Encore than Joy because of the round, sit-down bar, but it's a great space on Joy and is one of the big draws of the breakaway plus ships that have it. With that being said, Escape would be your best choice if itineraries are equal and the OL means nothing to you. I sailed Escape in 2018 and Joy in 2022. Loved my experience on both and would probably give the edge to Escape, as others have said. Howl at the Moon and Choir of Man were fantastic fun on Escape, but Joy is every bit as much fun with their entertainment. 2 big theater shows, comedians and 5 or 6 live musical acts every evening. I enjoyed it so much, we're sailing Joy again in 25 days!!
