For me the biggest advantage is the small deposit, $500 pp the last time we did it compared to the 15% or so % which could result in tying up a few thousand for a period of time. You can also transfer the booking to another cruise 1 time and still preserve the discount.
A few years ago we used Michi Travel Japan Corporation. Michitravel.com
They did a great job customizing a private tour for a small group of us off a cruise ship.
I would have no problem with not receiving luggage tags with my documents if they would provide a pdf by email of the luggage tag that i can complete and print off at home. Other cruise lines have done that and it works very well.
I concur it would be nice if everyone was treated the same but as been commented on many times on these boards the people from the US (and by default Canada) have benefits that those across the pond don't get. As most ships have a majority of American passengers they are going to cater to their largest client base.
Thanks Rachel for bringing back fond memories, we did this excursion with Regent a number of years ago and it was my favorite tour in Israel. Loved Masada, it was so interesting though tragic. Keep enjoying your cruise.
thank you for your comments. Glad that overall you had a wonderful time. Scary that a crew member has monkey pox. Thank goodness he/she was gone before you boarded. i hope they are recovering well.
Thank you for your lovely pictures and all the time you have taken to give us your honest assessment of your cruise and the ship so far.
Have a wonderful rest of your cruise.
