I thought I need to check out the big window before they cover it up but they’ve already got a partial cover for the morning show which is in an hour. As soon as that ends they’ll fully cover it for bingo or something.

I don't know why they have that window.  On Mardi Gras it was always covered.  What a waste.  I was looking forward to enjoying looking out the big window

  2. We enjoyed the Mardi Gras but I didn't like the ship.  I thought it was set up weird.  I also thought the entertainment was terrible.  Seen several people walk out of one of the shows.  But I did love the cooking classes they had, wish other lines would do those and I we enjoyed sitting around and listening to the entertainment around the ship.

  3.

At Denver we got a hotel and had a good nights rest, then up the next morning to the airport.  Once outside we noticed that many cars had their windows broken out or shattered.  Apparently there had been a hail storm and the people that left their cars in the area were going to come home to a bad surprise.  But we went to the parking lot and parked under a shelter and took the train to the airport.  The airport was a mad house but a couple of our group that came in from Omaha were there to go the rest of the way to Seattle with us.  The kids were terribly nervous to fly but it all turned out great.  Little Rhett who just turned 4 fell asleep  through the flight which is a blessing.  Seattle here we come. Pics to come in the next section.

  4. So, who is going?  Me - Vicki my children Amanda and daughters Jocelyn and Mary.  Daughter Kate and husband Calvin and kids Lane 14, Bryn 10, Bex 8 , and Rhett 4.  Daughter Megan.  Son Logan and wife Erika and little Mariana 5.  And finally Son Andrew and wife Kylie.

The plan was for some to fly out of Omaha, and Louisianna, and for our group to drive to Denver and fly to Seattle.  Although I was not enjoying the thought of driving 7 or so hours to the airport then fly the same day that was the plan.   The day before we were to leave it was decided to drive at least half way to the airport the night before then the rest the morning of.  Lane had a baseball game so we couldn't leave until after 6pm so it was going to be a late night.  As we were driving we decided to go all the way as the kids were doing great.

  5. Hi all, I wasn't going to write a review of my trip but decided to as this is sorta how I document my trips for myself for later.   First, spoiler alert, we had a great cruise.  But, now some history.....

My parents both passed and we sold their house so I decided to take my children on a trip with my portion.  I told my husband that is what I was planning to do with my money and asked him to pick a date that both of my boys could be away.   I have 5 kids ages 26 to 34 ish.  the youngest two work for us on the farm and that is why my husband got to choose the date.  He chose the first week in June which was a surprise to me as that is right after planting and starting in irrigating and haying but anyway......  I called my children into my office one day and told them of my plan.  Gave them the options and they picked the ship.  We would have 19 people traveling at this point so it was quite an undertaking.  That was a year and a half ago, the long wait began.  As I love cruising, I love to get people who have not been on a cruise before to try it.  My kids have all been on cruises one grandchild and a couple of their spouses.   A couple of years ago my daughter, daughter in law and I went on a cruise and she is now hooked.  I knew my other daughter in law would love it (and I was right) so I was also excited for her to go.  When time came to pay off cruise we had to cancel my daughter Amanda' husband and son and my other daughter Megan's husband who doesn't like cruising and stayed home with their very young children.  My daughter Megan had just gotten off maternity leave the week before we left for the cruise so she ended up having to take leave for our cruise.  Too bad baby Ada couldn't have waited one more week to be born!  Anyway, thanks to "Different Grandma" my family was all going on a cruise and I couldn't wait!

  6. Does Orlando have a luggage service like Seattle with Port Valet?  They take your check luggage from the ship and check you in.  I have done it on a Princess ship from somewhere in Florida but can't remember where or what it was called.

    Thanks for your help

I think you will be on the Seattle round trip cruise on the Quantum.  If that is the case, then using your birth certificates are fine.  Please check them now and make sure that all of them are US gov't issued birth certificates (not hospital issued), and that everyone 16 yr old and older has a gov't issued photo ID (school IDs are fine).

You can get off the ship in Victoria, BC.

You can not take the train in Skagway that enters Canada.

    Enjoy your cruise.

Yes I know my birth certs are fine.  I was just wondering about Canada.  Thanks for taking the time to help me.

You can only use a birth certificate on a closed loop cruise and yes if it is closed loop, which means round trip from a US port, you can get off in Canada with only a BC. What you can’t do if the ship calls at Skagway is take some runs of the White Pass railway that cross into Canada by land.

Thank you, no plans on riding the train and possibly not going into Canada but was just curious.  Thanks for taking the time to answer

For the OP, having multiple cruises booked can become a severe addiction. I currently have 16 cruises booked on RCI and 3 more booked on Celebrity. I have friends who have significantly more cruises booked than I do. I think I have crossed the line from cruises being a vacation to cruises being a lifestyle.

    Awesome

That wont be me.  No time and not enough people to go with me. How aweso.e that you can. I would like to try celebrity sometime

  10. I am so excited, this isn't something that happens to me.  We are maybe a once a year type family.  I feel so lucky!  I know for some of you it is not uncommon but this doesn't happen to me. We are going on Quantum in June and Wonder in Dec.  I guess I'd better enjoy it while I can.

  11. I enjoyed my trip on the Mardi Gras.  To be fair it was much better then I expected.  I didn't really like the layout of the ship as I like older ships but it was beautifully decorated.  My issue with the Mardi Gras is the entertainment was terrible.  We saw several people walk out of the shows.  and the food was just ok.  All subjective just as pretty much everything in life.  I loved the entertainment on NCL ships, Choir of Man, Kinky Boots, and Jersey Boys among my favorites and Carnval doesn't even compare.  Go on the cruise.  I'm sure you will enjoy yourself.

you haven’t noticed them going downhill, and yet you’ve noticed that they’re cutting entertainment. did their entertainment cuts improve the entertainment? if not, is it not fair to say they’ve gone downhill?

No I have not noticed them going down hill.  Yes there is less entertainment but it is not worse entertainment, for me anyway.  I don't really mind the less entertainment I find plenty to do.

  13. Not a "loyalist" I guess, but prefer NCL.  I have not noticed NCL going down hill in any area really but I'm sure they are trying to cut costs like all lines.  Entertainment on NCL has always been amazing but was sad to see they are cutting.  As far as food.  It is the same to me as it has always been.  Times are tough all over I guess.
