How do the specialty restaurants work on Divina? Is it like other cruise lines where you pay one price, and can order essentially as many appetizers as you want, as well as sides, and then one entree, and then a couple of desserts?
-
Regarding the departing from the US and not being able to drink, this must be dependent on the cruise line. I have been on both carnival and Norwegian, and each time 18 year olds were allowed to drink once we got one to sea. Say it is illegal all you want, but I have seen it on 4 of my cruises. For some reason though, they could only get beer and wine- or so it seemed.

This certainly wasn't the case the last time I sailed in the YC, you had to pay full price for more expensive brands. MSC change all the time, so who knows:)
It applies to the new YC drinks shipwide policy. So in the past it makes sense that you wouldn't have seen it :-)

From what I have been told, if you are in YC, and because you will be getting free drinks all over the ship, you only have to pay the difference between the basic beverage package and the premium/ultra(whatever the name is for the top shelf drink package), if you want to upgrade.

Well written review of a recent cruise on the Allure- from The Boston Globe.

This is NOT correct. Cruises originating in the US require that a person be 21 to drink alcohol.
Casino is 18 UNLESS on an Alaska cruise, where a person has to be 21.
I cruise with my mom all the time. The point is my spending time with her and us doing things together. Never have I abandoned her to go off looking for entertainment on my own. There is trivia, late night comedians, the shows, the spa, the pools, dancing etc. In Bermuda, you have 3 days to come and go as you please and wander about the island.
As log as college has let out, there should also be some others her age on board.
Where did anyone say anything, or even imply about OP's daughter abandoning him to go do something else?

hello..
Considering a Summit cruise with my 20yo daughter to Bermuda in May. Will there be enough activities for my kid?
Last Celebrity cruise was me and wife on Constellation out of Fort Lauderdale.
Older crowd for sure.
Was there anything added from the drydock last year?
thanks
I believe the drinking age is 18 once you get out to sea? Someone correct me if I am wrong. Activities wise for a 20 year old though, I don't think many cruise lines consider them to be "kids" anymore, so there are not organized activities.

I'm a first-time Celebrity cruiser on the Equinox now. I'm planning a full review at the end with as many dailies, menus, etc. as I can get. In the meantime, can I help answer any questions with photos or information?

Hope you have a great cruise! I would love to know how late the live music plays in the different bars. Have you seen it going after midnight?

We are not fans of the World Bar.. The location sucks (near the Art Gallery) and the drink menu leaves much to be desired. We have tried most of the drinks (on our past 2 cruises we had the Premium Package so drinks were free) and have not been impressed. And there is one interesting looking drink, made with dry ice, which they never have because they do not have the dry ice (our last bartender told us they had never served this drink on the Eclipse...since he started).
The World Bar concept is fine, but they really need to totally revamp their drink menu, add many more options, and perhaps offer some hors d'oevres.
Hank
Some live music there too might bring people in. Maybe a solo guitarist or something intimate.

What about public areas of the ship? Which is better (in your opinion) MSC Divina or Celebrity Equinox?
-
Crap, sorry. I meant Aqua class.
And no, not comparing Sky Suites, etc. My question comes down to this. Is Celebrity's service, food, drinks, etc. better than what I would receive with an MSC YC cabin/reservation.

Hello X'ers- Hoping to get some advice.
We currently have a YC1 booked on the MSC Divina for this upcoming October. However, I am toying with the idea of canceling it, and instead booking on the Equinox a month later. I am having trouble deciding. If it weren't for the Yacht Club, we wouldn't be doing MSC. The price of the YC room we booked is about $200 than an Aqua Suite on X. My question--- is the service and food on X better than what I would receive in the Yacht Club on MSC. The X ships certainly seem nicer, as do the bars, food, etc. But the YC is a ship within a ship, and seems pretty high class. I just don't know what to do. Help!

The molecular bar changed to the World Class Bar quite some time ago, unfortunately I don't think it will change anytime soon 😥
Damn! Any ships still have the Molecular Bar onboard?
Also, take a look at this youtube video that talks about the switch. You only need to watch for 15 secs or so

Here's a link to a tread that has the drinks on, there a couple of new ones but I believe these ones are the majority of the drinks...
The pictures start at around post 5/6...
Equinox Molecular Bar
Are they planning on keeping or replacing the Molecular Bar on Equinox?
-
Wrong, you must have not been in the right places, music everywhere on recent Reflection cruise, the same as on past half dozen Celebrity cruises.
Whenever someone says "Wrong", I can't help but think they are mimicking Trump.
That being said, I am glad I posted this question here, as you have all put my mind at ease!
-
The general consensus is that it was a mistake getting rid of the Molecular Bar, and replacing it with the World Class Bar.
Here is a good video that basically sums it up.
Have to wait maybe 5 seconds to the point where he talks about it. -
Did they feature any live music in the molecular bar, or martini bar? Did they music go past midnight?

This is good to know, thank you so much. Did they feature any live music in the passport bar, molecular bar, or martini bar?

As the title states, I have a friend who just got back from a cruise on the Silhouette. She said she only saw DJ's set up in the different bars, and did not see any live musicians (jazz band, solo guitar, cover bands, etc.) like they usually have. She said she is sure there was at least one line band (probably in the atrium), she just didn't see bands as much as she is used to.
Is this a new trend with X? The move from more expensive live music to the cheaper option of DJs?
Edit: Sorry for the typo in the title. Silhouette*

Cruise critic/mods- are you listening? Please add these ships so that we as the community are better served.

If you look to the right of the main MSC forum page, you see clickable options for each of MSC's cruise ships. This will filter posts to only show threads about whichever ship name you click on. As great as this option is, the Divinia is curiously absent.
Can the mods of this forum please add that as an option. As the only MSC ship currently in the U.S., it would make enormous sense to have this as an option. Thank you.

Is there music until around midnight in the other bars, or just the atrium?
