  1. Can you upgrade in advance? We have whatever beverage package came free with wifi.
  2. On celebrity, we are able to upgrade the basic drink package to the premium one once we board for about $15-20 pp per day on a 7 day cruise. Does MSC also allow this and if so, do you know roughly what the price would be for a 7 day Caribbean cruise? Thanks
  3. Absolutely nothing, thats whats so frustrating.
  4. Thank you, thats exactly what we are going through. Its not like we dont want to renew and travel with a passport for my wife, the passport agency keeps saying we need some proof that her last name changed so around in circles we go. Also, this was almost 30 years ago and we have never had an issue renewing her passport until now. We are almost to the point of just having them change the name to the name on her birth cert, but then it wont match any of her other documents. Drivers license, SS card, etc.
  5. Is it normal for the marriage cert to no show her new name? It only says her full maiden name married my full name. Its the official document, but i would think it would say somewhere on it that her new name is her first, my last? The cruise is from and arrive back in Miami so the birth cert should work, however, its risky if something happens in one of the islands and we need to fly back to to the US. We have never traveled outside the country without a passport, but we just cant figure out how to get hers back. Her birth cert obviously doesnt match her last name and the marriage license doesnt have her new name on it either. I have no idea how we originally got her passport and renewed it 3 times over the years.
  6. we are having a major issue getting my wife's passport renewed and dont think it will be here in time for the cruise. Maiden name vs. married name, vs a hyphen. Anyway, we have her birth cert and of course it doesnt match the name on her dirvers license. Have others had issues with that when checking in? We have always had passports and have never had to use a birth cert to cruise. thanks
  7. I think we are ok now. We loaded the app on our iphones and it looks like its going to allow us to check in everyone, even though some are younger than 18. So, fun followup question. In the cabin with 1 person, the travel agent booked it with 2 people, 1 bogus name, because she couldnt book 1 person in a cabin. Does anyone know what will happen when that nonexistent person doesnt show up on the day of the cruise? Out TA said they do it all the time for singles in a cabin but wanted to find out here if anyone has done this and if they had an issue? thanks
  8. We are unable to access our kids cabins online, therefore cant check them in prior to the cruise. We are concerned that we wont be able to check in at the port given our last Celebrity cruise, they just scanned our 2D barcode, took a pic of of our Passports, and we were let on the ship. Anyone know what the process is if you dont check in prior? Thanks
  9. We submitted our passport renewals Feb 23 and we still dont have them yet. Im actually getting nervous about our june cruise.
  10. Hi, just to close the loop on this and provide some info in case anyone else has a similar configuration. We were able to book 3 cabins, 2 balconies, 1 inside. Wife and Hubby in one, 20yo son and girlfriend in the other balcony, and 17yo son in the inside by himself. I was actually surprised they let us book our 17yo son in the cabin by himself but i guess all of the cabins are close enough we were able to do it. So we wont have to play the key card shuffle when we board which is great.
  11. Just Searched and did some math and the savings on without the package would be ~$1800 but to add it back on the cruise would be ~$2500 so its a good deal. thx for the info.
  12. Is there a way to see the prices of WIFI and Drink packages prior to booking?
  13. Hi, We are looking at 3 balcony cabins on a 7 day cruise out of miami on seascape this june and cant decide to buy it with or without the Wifi, Drink package, etc. The cost for just the base cruise with Taxes is $2742 per cabin and with Wifi, Drink Package and i think Gratuities its $3347 per cabin. I have a general idea of what these items cost from other cruise lines, but this is our first MSC cruise so any thought on whether or not we should by then with or without the packages? We are a party of 5 and 3 of us are under 21 so although we will get drink packages for everyone, 3 will be the non alcohol one. We also do plan on buying WIFI for everyone. Thoughts? thanks in advance.
  14. But if the cabin is $3000 total for the two people and 1 cancels the price if the cabin would still be $3000 and not more. Correct?
  15. Above and beyond the total cost of the cabin?
  16. So, a follow on question. MSC isnt accepting single cabin bookings, or at least not through the TA we talked to, so they recommended booking it with a second person and having them cancel the second person prior to the cruise. There isnt much of a price difference between a single and a double cabin booking, but we would get back the taxes for the second person. Anyone see any issues/pitfalls in doing that? im assuming this is relatively common if 1 person has to cancel and the other still wants to go. THoughts?
  17. Ok, makes sense and we have done the card shuffle with other lines, but it was kind of a pain. but that works as long as they let me book the two 20yos in one cabin. Does anyone know if MSC cares how close the cabins are? In the past RCL and NCL did and had to be next door or across the hall, but once our oldest turned 18, they didnt seem to care. Example, they were on a completely different floor last year on NCL.
  18. So, we are trying to book a june 2023 last minute cruise in place of a land vacation we had booked. Too much seaweed in the area... Our Challenge is will be a party of 5. 2 Parents(Ages 52/50) . 2 Sons (Ages 20/17), and 1 sons girlfriend(20). The challenge is we would usually get 2 cabins, 1 for parents, 1 for sons, however the girlfriend throws a monkey wrench into that given our 17yo doesnt want to be in with son and girlfriend understandably. So, i would like to get 3 cabins, 2 people in 2, 17yo in his own. I know what it costs, thats not a concern, the question is can i book a 17yo single in a cabin? I know i can with the 20yo because we do that all the time as long as the cabin is close to ours. We called MSC last night and the person we talked to had no idea what we were trying to do so we gave up. Commutations difficulty. We will try again tonight with another person, but i through i would throw it out here to see if anyone has had a similar situation. Thanks in advance
  19. Then what info do you base your decisions on? We haven’t been on Princess in 20+ years and i think the info on this tread was wonderful and greatly appreciated. While i understand its opinions, i also dont think people are giving wrong info. Some of the call outs regarding celebrity we experienced last year on Edge and Silhouette. Thanks again everyone. We are looking forward to trying the Sky later this year.
  20. Thanks everyone, and im assuming you can do more in the app than on their website. Website seems limited.
  21. What are your thoughts on trying to get a dive in when we are only in port 12-7? thx
  22. Hi, We booked Sky princess dec 16 this year and have a couple of questions. First, Is there a way to link reservations? We have 2 cabins and want to book shore excursion and possibly dinner reservations. On other lines, we were able to link the cabine and book all reservations from one account. Also, as we get closer to the cruise, does Princess add more shore excursions? The selections seem limited compared to what we are use to. Also, do they have private shore excursions through Princess similar to Celebrity private excursions? Thanks in advance for the info.
  23. We booked Princess Sky last night and i have to say, it was a pretty seamless process. We prefer to book online, but given our kids are both under 21, we had to call to get them booked in the same cabin. Not unexpected, same with Celebrity, RCL, etc. I will say, on the other lines, we had to be in a cabin next door or across the hall. Princess didnt seem to care where our, parents, cabin was located as long as we were on the same sailing. Maybe because my oldest is 20?? Looking forward to trying Princess again. Fun fact, my wife found he princess loyalty card from 20 years ago, dont ask me why she still had it, but even odder, it was still valid. Princess keeps our data a looooong time...
  24. Thanks for the great info everyone. Sounds like both are a step up from the mainstream, RCL, NCL, etc. Sorry if i misused upscale, what i really meant was a step up from they other mainstream lines. So it sounds like X is a bit better than Princess in most opinions, but given the cabin types, Mini suite on princess vs. veranda on X, i think that may be the deciding factor. It’s only a 7 day cruise so laundry isn’t really an issue and we aren’t gamblers so smoking in the casino isn’t an issue. We do like getting dressed for dinner so its a bummer that its not as formal on Princess. Anyway, great info everyone, thanks again.
  25. Hi, we are trying to decide between Princess Sky and Celebrity Apex over the Christmas holiday this year. Week before to be exact. Im posting this in the Princess forum because we cruised Celebrity twice last year so we are pretty familiar with that experience where we havent cruised Princess since 2000ish... From what we remember, we liked the experience, but if any of you that maybe cruise both, can you give us your preference on one or the other? Both seem pretty comparable and we are ok with both itineraries. We are cruising with our 2 sons, 20-17 in their own cabin and wife and i in an adjoining or next door. Mini suites for both. Celebrity we are looking at a balconies and not the infinity varanda. We had that last cruise and weren't huge fans. We liked the Celebrity experience and the kids did as well given they are old enough to enjoy a more adult experience vs. the RCL and NCL cruises we took prior. Basically i think we have all outgrown those cruise lines are are looking for a more laid back upscale experience.
