  1. we did this two weeks ago on Silhouette. 5 day cruise, it was $72pp for us to upgrade from classic to Premium. We did it at the customer service desk because we were there working on another item. They had some chart they looked at to see what it would cost for the 5 day cruise. below is the line item on my bill. Im sure this varies, but roughly $15 per day per person extra. 11/3 BEVERAGES 30025896 BEVERAGE PACKAGES 144.00
  2. We have the same situation with our son whos passport expires in jan and we are cruising in Dec. We were stressed about getting a new one until my wife and i took a cruise on silhouette last week and they didn't even look at our passports. Not saying its a lock that will happen in december and we'll take his birth cert just in case, but they didnt seem overly concerned about passports in either check in or disembarkation.
  3. Definitely keep an eye on the AI. Our last cruise, the gratuities dropped off, but wifi and drink package stayed. Odd. our cruise next month, all dropped off so the TA had to do something to add them back on. Im boarding the ship with all receipts just in case though.
  4. We had an Aqua cabin last week on Silhouette and Blu was very good, but we only ate there once because we wanted to try some of the other speciality restaurants. There were some other perks like the thermal spa and yoga mats in our room, but we didnt use any of that so the poster above that suggested buying a specialty dining package may be a better option or at least for us it may have been.
  5. ok, that may be it then. we have 2 balcony cabins next to each other.
  6. We are traveling with our two sons, 19-16yo, next month on Apex. We just booked the cruise last week with 2 cabins, one for us, one for them. We got our cruise confirmation on friday which had everything correct, us in one cabin, our kids in another. We found this odd because we have always had a problem doing this in the past, even on NCL last year when our oldest was 18yo. we still had to jump through some hoops even though he was an adult. So i discovered today when checking in that they made my 19yo 29yo. However, it let me correct it during the check in process so i guess we are in the clear?? Has anyone else had a similar situation and did you have any issues? Im surprised we didnt have to do anything special for a cabin where both people are under 21 but like i said, i sailed right through the checkin process with no issues and everything looks correct.
  7. We did kinda an opposite experiment last week when disembarked from the Silhoutte out of Miami. Our flight wasnt until the next day so we wanted to see how long they would allow us to stay on the ship. Same type of timing as the OP, they were disembarking around 7:30 although it was suppose to be 7. We went to the lobby around 8:30 and they were asking us to leave at 9:30. So even waiting to be one of the last people off the ship, we would have easily made a 11:00 flight. Totally agree that there are factors that can change these times a lot. An example would be when we got on the ship, it was delayed because it came from europe and i guess there is more customs procedures they have to go through and i saw people still walking off after 11.
  8. Is there anywhere on celebrity's website that shows the perks for our reservation? On our receipt from our TA it does say free drink package, wifi and gratuities, but we cant find that detail anywhere online.
  9. Just a quick followup on this, we did use the $100 ATT plan and it worked great for outbound calls, but very spotty for inbound. Maybe 1 out of 3 made it through. The sound quality was great though. Actually better than some of areas when im on land... We also had the wifi plan so just used that for data.
  10. We just got off a 5day Silhouette cruise and overall it was great. We actually booked another on Apex over the holidays. There are some questions that i wanted to ask about some things we weren't use to or were different then our usual RCL, NCL cruises of late. I know that tipping is not required, but i usually tip above the standard for good drink or restaurant service. RCL was a receipt you could write one in, NCL was cash, but i dont think i saw anyone tipping on the Silhouette and when i did a couple of times i was able to get some change, the service was outstanding. Meaning the bartender at the martini bar had our drinks ready when he saw us walking up to the bar. Is tipping different on Celebrity or are we just the oddballs that tip too much? Speaking of tipping, we went to the pursers desk 3 times during the cruise to break larger bills and they had absolutely no change. They turned me away twice and the third time they could tell i was getting agitated so they scavenged up some $5-10s from the different counters. Is that normal? Ive never had an issue getting change on a cruise ship. The ship was only 60% full which i thought was odd because the AI resorts we have been going to have been packed. I think the NCL ship we were on last december was also pretty close to capacity. Is that normal for Celebrity or were we just on a less popular itinerary? Like i said, one of the best cruises we have had in a while. It does remind me of Princess and HAL when we cruised them years ago. And it was actually quite a bit less expensive than some of the mega ships we have been on of late. Cant way to try the Apex next month and check out the infinite balcony. Ive read through some of the posts about it on here and although it doesn't seem to be for everyone, i think it will be perfect for us because we rarely just sit on the balcony and would much rather reclaim that space for the room.
  11. Ah thank you. I have to go back to checking out the other websites again. Thats a pretty significant savings. thanks again.
  12. Hi, we are booking a holiday cruise next month on Apex and we usually use the cruise line website to book, however, i checked a non cruise cruising website, pretty mainstream one, and its about $1700 cheaper for the 2 cabins we are looking at. Everything looks the same, room type, free offers, etc. Does that sound right? We have been under the impression that there was no real price difference between using a TA vs. the cruise line websites to book. Thoughts? Am i missing something?
  13. Thanks Again for everyones help on this last minute cruise. Amazed how smooth it went for only booking 4 days out. Overall, great cruise and I think we are hooked on celebrity now. Ill post a more detailed review later in the week but overall great experience. thanks
  14. Ah, those are the key words i was looking for. Cellular at Sea. After searching my carrier for that, ATT, its $50 for 50 min talk and unlimited txt, or $100 for unlimited talk and text. Not bad at all. Thanks for your help.
  15. Kinda the opposite question that is usually asked about this, but i need to make and receive some calls on one of our sea days and i was wondering if it would work on silhouette and second, what the charges will be. I know i can use wifi, but i dont trust the sound quality or receiving calls. Whenever i try to use WIFI to receive calls, its hit and miss. I was on a RCL ship a couple years ago and left my cell on and received a call while we were at sea so i think its possible, i just dont know if it only works on certain ships or all ships. thanks
  16. Thanks everyone for the awesome responses. I think a lot if not all of these questions are redundant, but we are on a super time crunch so i appreciate you reanswering them. Thanks again
  17. Thanks Everyone. we booked last night so now im asking a bunch of dumb questions on here that im sure have already been answered, but we are in panic mode. Booking this close to the sailing is way outside of our comfort zone... Thanks again.
  18. So, we are new to Celebrity, but have cruised just about every other mainstream cruise line. We booked a last minute cruise this coming thursday last night which we have never done before, but our VRBO got cancelled last minute and this 4 day cruise turned out to be a better deal than booking another one. Thanks for everyone's help with Aqua vs Concierge suites. We do have a couple questions given the documentation we have received to date has been somewhat vague. We did book online through the celebrity website which was pretty easy, but we got very little in email as to what was included. Questions We did verify that we have the drink package, assuming classic, wifi and gratuities. My question is how difficult is to upgrade the drink and wifi packages once on board assuming there is no way to do it prior because the prices listed look to be full price. $75 pp per day. Im going to guess we get some credit for already having the classic package. Should we wait to book the spa treatments when we get on the ship? Again, this is something we usually do months in advance but given we are so close to the sail date we are thinking we might get a better deal if we wait? Especially if we do it during a port day because we dont plan on getting off the ship in nassau. We usually buy the dinner packages when we cruise on RCL or NCL, but when we were cruising on Princess and HAL, before kids, the food in the MDR was pretty good. Is that the case on celebrity? Do they make you take a covid test then you get to the port or just look at vax documentation? We sailed NCL last december and it was a pretty extensive testing process when we got to the port. Just wondering if that has relaxed a bit Thanks in advance for any advise you can give us. We were really stressing last night about booking a cruise so close to the sail date, especially a line we have never been on. We are also flying to miami the day of the cruise which is also a big no no for us. But it is a 6:50am flight so fingers crossed that goes as planned.
  19. email invoice was very vague so we called and there was an issue with the gratuities which they corrected and sent us a PDF which looks more in line with the receipt we are use to getting with other lines. it does say AI so i think we are good. thanks
  20. Thanks everyone. We went with aqua with the recommendations. One question though, on our email confirm is make no mention of the all included drinks, tips, etc. It definitely said it on checkout. Is that listed somewhere else? We booked directly through celebrity online.
  21. Hi, we are looking at booking on Silhouette this coming thursday, 11/3 and have the option of aqua class or concierge class for the same price. Any recommendations on which would be a better choice? Looks like aqua has access to the persian garden, have no idea what that is, and a private resteraunt, and the concierge class has access to a concierge. Both rooms and other perks seem the same. And sorry if this has already been discussed, but have to book tonight so really in a time crunch. Thoughts? and thanks in advance.
  22. Hi, We are looking at a MSC cruise and have never cruise this line before, but the itinerary matches our needs. I think this has been asked an answered a lot on this board but we dont have time to sift through the answers and wanted to know if this line is more like carnival or RCL? We are not big fans of carnival and prefer RCL and NCL but they dont have anything that meets our dates so we are considering MSC and dont know anything about this line. We are looking at Seascape over the holidays. appreciate any info you can give. Thanks
  23. Thanks everyone for the info. We talked to our kids last night and they are excited about trying another cruise line. I should have shared what cruise we were considering in my original post. We are looking at either a southern or eastern cruise over thanksgiving this year. Amsterdam or Statendam. We are all divers so we are leaning toward eastern given it gives us more ports to dive at, however, we may not be able to fly in a day before, friday, and that is always a requirement. We never fly in the day of the cruise. Waaaay to stressful. thanks again
  24. Hi, we sailed HAL years ago, 90s and early 2000s and were wondering what has changed if anything. We were in our 20s-30s when we cruised HAL and were definitely the youngest ones on the ship which we actually liked given weren't big partiers. We also liked the quiet... We had kids and switched to RCL and NCL over the years, but now that our kids are late teens, we were thinking come going back to HAL with our kids given they are also pretty laid back like we were. They are 19-17yo and didnt like getting swarmed by young kids on our last cruise. So, looking at some youtube videos, it looks like there is more of an age mix than what we experienced and the ships definitely look like they have more things to do on board. I believe the last HAL ship we were on was the Maasdam... Our last cruise was NCL Getaway over Christmas 2021. Any info would be greatly appreciated as well as this is a bad idea comments if thats the case. thanks
