  1. Good morning. We have a hot and humid day here with thunderstorms coming later.I forced myself to take the dogs on a decent walk earlier and it was like walking through a wall of water. I will celebrate veggies but find flip flops uncomfortable. Any thought of driving without a specific destination or need is no longer an option. The state dropped sales tax on gas until the end of the year but prices remain very high. The port looks like a great place to visit. Thanks for the pictures. I am searching through recipes for something different for tonight. We have a request for shrimp scampi that sounds good to me.I like the recipes today but would need an air fryer for the fish. @grapau27 has the best idea!Go to a restaurant for fish and chips..... Terry
  2. Good morning everyone. It is another rainy day with a thunderstorm expected soon. I love veggies and waterfalls, even small ones are fascinating. We have not been to the port and look forward to pictures. @dfish,Debbie, I am so sorry to learn your pain is back. It has to be so frustrating.I hope the MD visit helps. By the way, the recipes look wonderful and I await the executive Chef’s decision. Thank you again.@Heartgrove, Jack, prayers for you and your family today. @kazu, Jacqui, I am enjoying seeing pictures of your beautiful garden. Thanks. I celebrated the return of my cooking facilities by making chili and a bean and pasta soup yesterday. It was so nice to do something normal again. terry
  3. @ger_77, Gerry, a very Happy Birthday to your son @mamaofami,Carol, The picture is beautiful thanks for showing us.It looks like one of our parks around here.I would need you to come take a picture though,LOL @JazzyV,Vanessa, I had a similar reaction to a lot of the RA drugs over the years but it usually stopped after the 3rd or 4th dose.I hope it is ok for you today.
  4. Good morning to all.The utility workers and the contractors replacing our gas lines finished around seven last night. They even put paving material over the hole made in the walkway that goes around the house. And swept the street and sidewalk. They helped yesterday in transferring Tana and her equipment back to our side of the house. She enjoyed being with her sister and DBIL but missed the dogs! I have not been to the port and will pass on the recipe. I will salute nature photography and let prunes have their day. @StLouisCruisers ,Sandi, so sorry about your quarantine and the addition of DH to the covid list.I am sending prayers for Buddy and Jen also.I have been in an OV cabin many times but I could always leave.I hope the days go quickly and you feel better soon.
  5. I know it is hard to believe but there are coyotes in Yonkers,NY.Thry have been seen in several areas.Yikes. No armadillos ,yet
  6. Oh no Sandi, @StLouisCruisers,I am so sorry you are positive and in quarantine. I sure hope DH remains negative. Hugs and prayers for you both.
  7. I am so sorry to hear this. It is always sad to lose our furry folks.
  8. Good morning everyone. It is cloudy now but will be in the eighties and sunny later.I am waiting for the workers to return.Last night our neighbor stopped by and offered to carry Tana up the 2 flights of stairs to her sister's apartment. He was concerned about her having to put up with the jack hammering beneath her window while the gas line is replaced. We will take him up on his offer later this morning. I was so touched by his generosity. Several neighbors stopped by to inspect the trenches and chat.My across the street neighbor said he heard the alarm in his house as he had his bedroom window open. I think today will be a take out day again.I look forward to seeing the recipe.I will celebrate Flag day and Blood Donor Day. Bourbon and I have parted company and we have not been to the port. .
  9. @Heartgrove,Jack,I am sending my condolences for your family after the passing of your sister.I am glad you were able to be with her .I hope all goes well with your brother and his surgery We will be without hot water or a stove for 2 to 3 days as the main pipe needs replacing. The city made these monitors/alarms mandatory last year. It was a good thing.
  10. @cat shepard, thanks. We were grateful for the utility workers and the firefighters coming within 3 minutes of the alarm going off. Tana and I also decided we would have take out for dinner since we can’t use the stove.I agree about having a sense of humor….it saves the day often around here!
  11. Good morning. We had a very early start today as a gas leak alarm in the basement told us to evacuate and dial 911.There were several firefighters at our door in short order with hatchets and the like.I explained Tana's difficulties and they said they would carry her outside for us.I got the portable O2 hooked up and threw some clothes on.Neighbors were also awakened as they tried to figure out the extent of the leak. A mini backhoe started digging along the sidewalk. We were a sight standing around in the dark with our entire family, including dogs. They let us in after a while and shut the gas off.We will have no hot water but at least we are safe for now. The daylight brought a different utility crew who will fix the problem. Tana made me laugh as she stated she felt hung over from lack of sleep. Neither of us drink anymore so we found it funny. @kazu,we get deer even in our city garden and share your frustration with their appetites! @VMax1700, Bon Voyage
  12. Sorry but I also had disappearing posts today. Now there are too many. I salute the days, like the quote and might try the recipe tomorrow. @irishjim, orzo is pasta and very popular in our soups usually. It looks like rice! @JAM37, a very Happy Birthday to your son @MISTER 67,Bon Voyage Erewhon had asked about Tana.I have not said much lately as she is finding everything difficult.I have asked friends of hers to stay when DH and I need to go out.The respiratory issues alone are challenging. It leaves her quite weak.I wish I had better news.
  13. I love this picture but my heart aches for your family at this hard time.
  14. Good morning from a sunny and warm NY. We have been to Portland a few times on land and cruise trips.I salute the days and will think about making recipe number two if the fresh cod looks good later. @grapau27, The lunch looked great and I wish you and Pauline many years of enjoyment with the new car @Cruzin Terri, I am glad you have some relief with the increased meds. @Sharon in AZ, I am so glad Craig is out of quarantine and hope he can enjoy some of the trip with you. Our resident teenager went to a dance at his school last night with a very nice female friend. Our Tana was happy and sad at the same time and we tried to frame things positively for her. He is certainly growing up way too fast and has had a lot to deal with in the past two years. it was a happy occasion and we were all relieved to hear him come home at the appointed time. Between his own Mom,DD and myself, he has a gauntlet to get past in order to get out the door! and back in….
  15. Good morning. We also had big thunderstorms last night. The dogs protested when a nearby hit shook the house.Today more rain is expected this morning. A salute to the days today. We have not been to the port and will have vegetarian enchiladas tonight for dinner. @rafinmd,I hope your pain decreases. @SusieKIslandGirl,glad you are home so quickly and hope all is well soon. @dfish, Enjoy your return to the pool today! Take care everyone Terry
  16. We traveled from Boston to Amsterdam on a VOV several years ago. It was 17 days and I was still working so very hard to negotiate that much time off. It was in July and the weather was calm and pleasant. I only had one day where I was in need of seasickness medication.I love sea days so just had a good old time. We went with my DB and SIL so the company was excellent. I highly recommend transatlantic and transpacific crossings. They are special.
  17. Good morning .It is very humid this morning so the dogs and I did the shorter walk. Yuck.Tana and I decided to try the Betty Crocker recipe today and make some of the calzones vegetarian. We have not been to the port, don't like the quote and celebrate oceans every day. DH has been my best friend for 40 plus years. I remember writing a paper in High School about Thomas Paine. @seagarsmoker, sending prayers for Uncle Gary and your family.I hope all goes well. @Cruzin Terri,I am sorry to hear you are in so much pain.I hope the medication helps. Terry
  18. Good morning. I had posted previously but it has disappeared. Hmmmm. @dfish, I am so glad you had a release from pain and can now really enjoy your trip. The recipes look great and the meat is in the magic instapot now. Thanks as usual. @AncientWanderer, it was so nice to see a picture of your grandson yesterday. I hope the move goes well. @marshhawk, I agree, you are very flexible and I like the middle name. We are enjoying the cooler weather here with a nice breeze and only 75 or so expected. Terry
  19. Good morning from a really beautiful day here.We had a great time yesterday on the patio in the fine weather for a BBQ.There were a lot of laughs combined with good food and company. My mom's 3 brothers were in different branches of the service and found after the fact that they were all involved in D Day.I remember family dinners when it was discussed but certainly not in detail in front of us. @Heartgrove,Safe travels to see your family . @cat shepard,I love the pictures and memes. The flying cat was a hoot. Terry
  20. @StLouisCruisers, it is especially painful,at least to me,when the first anniversary of a loved one's passing comes along.I too, hope you have good memories of your dear sister. My prayers for Buddy and all of your family. I love Iceland
  21. Good morning. My DH is a prostate cancer survivor of many years. Right now I find myself very concerned about our children and all they are facing in the world now. We have not been to the port and I like the looks of today’s recipes. I will file them for another day as we are having another outdoor BBQ. This time we invited our neighbor and his family as a thank you for all his help. The weather is gorgeous today so it should be a good time. @ger_77, I thought about you and your DH a lot yesterday. I hope the ceremony went well and that you were able to meet your relatives.
  22. @Heartgrove, My heart aches for you and your family. Sending prayers for all concerned.
  23. Good morning from a slightly rainy and muggy NY. I have always loved donuts but try not to have them now. If I shut my eyes I can still see myself in the audience for a Jimi Hendricks concert. It was the only time I saw him live but I was so amazed by him. They used to have concerts in Central Park at the ice skating rink….I am dating myself as it sure was a long time ago. We have not been to the port but would love to see pictures. The executive chef has decided that our dinner should be take out tonight and I am very happy about that. We are making soup for lunch. The two dogs got good reports from the vet and came home to sleep. They even went into the room to see the doc together. It is nice to see how they have bonded. They are both eight now and considered middle aged!
  24. Good morning to all.I had moonshine once....not one if my better memories. I like my dentist but he deserves an award for putting up with an anxious person. We have not been to the port. I have made this recipe before but prefer it in the fall and winter. Debbie @dfish,I hope you have a good day . Thanks for the recipes! @Sharon in AZ I am so sorry to hear that Craig is positive.I hope he is feeling better today and that you do not test positive. My SIL never got Covid when my DB had it a few weeks ago. Today I am taking both dogs for their annual Vet visits.I shudder at the cost but they need their shots. They have become good buddies and I often find them sleeping side side while guarding our patient. So sweet. Terry
