Right, so no refunds reported as received by anyone after the virus hit.

It looks like we are 3 separate groups looking for refunds:

    1. those who cancelled before final payment (for any reason) and want their deposit refunded, as per the regular cancellation policy ( I started a thread for these)

    2. those who had a cruise booked which MSC cancelled, and want a refund

    3. those who booked a cruise which MSC has not yet cancelled, and want a refund b/c of the virus/travel restrictions.

I expect the credit card would be ready to help with a chargeback for 1 and 2, b/c #1 fits the policy rules, and #2 is a service not provided. The card would likely not help with #3 b/c the service could still be provided. So for 1 and 2 the next question is how long would the card allow MSC to delay the refund before threatening a chargeback.

Do I still have time to dispute this with my credit card? I purchased the cruise back on February 2019. and cancelled it in March 2020, 13 months after.

    Thanks in advance,

Yes...it showed as canceled.  But, when I spoke to the rep she said that it was canceled, but "the paperwork" for the refund wasn't submitted at the time.  Seems it's a 2 step process.   Again...not sure "who" messed up...but it was messed up.

I'll report back when/if I get the refund.

I cancelled our on March 13 and when I called them back on April 1st  because I had not received the refund, I was told the same story they told you, that it was a 2 step process and was missing the 2nd step. Guess what? I am still waiting on the refund.

My friend who was sailing on a different cabin and canceled 2 days later was told that sorry, but the refund might take upto 60 days.  I am patiently waiting for 5/13 to give them another call if I still have not received my refund.

Anyone who cancelled after March 13 and received the refund yet?

Has anyone heard if MSC is extending pay in full date?  Ours is coming up at the beginning of April for our July cruise.  I thought I read that the final payment day was reduced from 90 days to 60.

This is what I am looking for.

Decided to keep ours...It was either cancel or pay today. After their 48 hours cancellation policy announcement, decided to keep our plans/airfares...If it gets really bad in the next month we will be still be able to cancel for full refund up to April 7th with just a penalty of original deposit amount. ($200.00).

Or get full credit for use till December 2021.

Did you get an extension on your final payment?  How can you be able to cancel and get a refund instead of a FCC?

Thank you so much for this update.

My neighbor's son is in Madrid for a semester abroad. I noted that yesterday their numbers skyrocketed. They are in the same place Italy was only 10 days ago.  He is not concerned but I hope he comes home.  Not that I think things won't be as bad here eventually, but I am afraid at some point he won't be allowed back in the US.

Let's hope things get better for you in Italy and life can return to normal.

Madrid is closing tomorrow all schools and universities for 2 weeks

I’m in the US - I called MSC to discuss my options for my upcoming May 11th cruise, which has 3 stops in Italy (Genoa, Florence, and Naples). They informed me that they are treating this cruise as “business as usual”, which surprised me seeing as how the entire country of Italy is under a Level 3 warning (reconsider travel), with Milan and Venice as a Level 4 (do not travel under any circumstances).

It does sound like they are allowing Med cruisers scheduled for March/April departures to postpone or choose a different itinerary with no fees. (Was told this by MSC and also saw this on the CC website).

No word yet for my May cruise, but I was told to call back Tuesday/Wednesday and they should have an update for me, so we’ll see.

Thanks, I was on hold today for over an hour and got disconected. 😞 We are to travel on June so I will wait a couple of days to give them a call.

Hi I just want to share my thoughts about the Coronavirus, as I'm italian and I live in Italy, near Turin, in north west of the country.

On a population of about 55 millions people, we have about 1600 test-positive people. Our life here is more or less always the same: go to work, go shopping, but we have taken some precautions towards the possible spread of the virus: all school and universities have been closed last week in regions affected from the majority of cases: Lombardia (Milano region, 984 reported test-positive), Veneto (Venezia and Verona region, 263), Emilia Romagna (Bologna region, 285), Piemonte (Torino region, 49). School still closed now in Lombardia, Veneto and Emilia Romagna until 3/8, in Piemonte kids will go back to school in 2 days.

Every single person who looks ill, with fever, cough, etc... undergoes Coronavirus test. Our sanitary service is working great to prevent new infections, unlike other countries we have free access to every level of sanitary care, so there is no risk of people not having the right care just because they can't pay for that, and this is a great way to border infection, I guess.

I cannot tell you to keep your travel plans or to change them, of course, I just want to share a little optimism for the ones who have reservations for next months. The biggest problem is the policy of foreign countries towards people who go back home after being in Italy, nobody wants to be quarantined...unless you have severe health condition, the risk is not being ill, but being quarantined, as someone said before in this topic. Next 2 weeks will be crucial for the developments of the situation.

I have travel plans for may (our 25th marriage anniversary, a long week end in Budapest) and for august (Brilliance OTS , Norway and Iceland), and I am more than sure that I will be able to enjoy my holidays and that's what I wish for you all.

I'll say a prayer for L2float's husband, please do so for all of us in Italy, for the people who is working hard 24/7 to take care of sick people and for the ones who risk to lose their job (this is another consequence of the virus, especially for the ones working in tourism, restaurants and so on). Thank you (and sorry for writing mistakes)...

Thank you for this post.  God bless you.

The bracelets are $5 each (in the Caribbean) and anyone can wear them.  They will do everything your cruise card does except clock you on and of the ship.

Get a copy of Rick Steves' Mediterranean Cruise Ports.  He tells you what there is to see in the ports, how much you can do in the time you have and how to do it without an organized excursion.  Also visit the Ports of Call board here.

According to the MSC website, the Junior Club is 7-11 and the Young Club is 12-14.  I have no experience with the clubs so I can't guess if the 11 y/o would be allowed to move up.  Since you will not have a sea day, and there is lots of outdoor entertainment (pools, slides) it might be a moot point.  EM

    Thank you very much!!!!

  9. Hi, Sorry if this has been asked already but, I can't find much info from recent Seaview posts.  I need help with a couple of things:

    1. What time is the late dinning?

    2. Do you get wristbands or you have to buy them? (we are not YC)

    3. Are the wristbands just to open the doors? What other uses can it have?

    4. Are kids allowed to use them?

    5. Kid friendly excursions you recomend on your own? I cant afford MSC excursions.

    6. Is the drink package worth it on this sailing? Since there is not sea day.. not sure about this.

    7. What is the age for the kids clubs categories? Trying to figure out if my 11 yrs will be on the same as my 13 yrs old.

    Thank you in advance,

Yes you Can, when you have picked up your cruisecard in the cabin. You Can leave the ship again, but Be back 30 min before sailing.

    This is good to know.

    Thanks,

I'd love a bit more variety in the buffet. We've used it quite a lot as it's just easier with the kids, but it's very samey. We were on Divina in the Carribean this winter and found that was the same - and some of the menu items are identical.

The only thing that's a bit of a pain (literally) is that we have to clamber over the sofa bed when it's open to get to the balcony. If I've banged my leg once, I've done it 100 times.

The staff are very friendly and the kids LOVE kids club (they've said they like MSC better than Royal Caribbean and Norwegian).

All in all its pretty great so far.

    Here's some more photos!

    Hiya

Based on my kids reactions so far (9 and 7) your grandkids will have a blast.

We were scheduled to board at 14.50 but were on board by noon with no problems.

It's probably best to book for the shows as the theatre gets full. They will let people in who haven't reserved just before the show starts/if there are any seats left. You can book through the TV in your room and it's really easy - just pick a showtime and whoever is going. You don't book an actual seat.

The waterslides aren't too busy at all. We haven't been bowling or to the zipwire yet - but we have promised the kids so I'll let you know 🙂

Do they provide the seapass arm bands for the kids so they can open the cabin doors and pay for their beverages?

You Can board the ship as soon as you Can. You have paid for the first Day.

Just Go strait from the airport and board the ship.

You have to reserve in the theater.

How do you reserve the theater?
