Talking with the crew at Funchal the First officer as well as the Captain have "Additional training " so would have thought any airport with restrictions would have same with their flight deck crew ?

That is why the Mrs and I agreed we would have stayed on the ship back to Southampton .

Agree entirely ,be happy that P&O got a hotel regardless of star rating .

In my post (thinking outside the box ) were just my thoughts as I posted, could be anywhere , Gatwick was just an example . With the ATC backlog that needs sorting ,but I agree it would be great if they flew them into Southampton ,fingers crossed for them all.

A bit like the woman who was in Guernsey on the Ventura (Not the Britannia) said ... "This has shocked me and I really don't want to be on this ship anymore ! " 🥴🙄 That would be equivalent to @grapau27 wanting to come home from Lake District 🤣

I see the ship is now cracking on and heading home for Southampton where I think repairs and replacements will be done fast as possible . Will they have a replacement lifeboat ready is anyone's guess . I am only a member of this site but other family members who have other media keep me in the loop with comments and have been told ship could be home as early as Thursday . One what made me smile is a lady who is now kicking off after she volunteered to leave the ship ,that no P&O person was at the 2* hotel to say sorry for crashing the ship (They didn't ) and goes onto blame them ATC problem with aircraft. Also thinks the hotel should be five star at least . I was chatting with the Mrs and we came to the conclusion that if we had been onboard , we would have stayed put onboard . Thinking outside the box .. Coached to a hotel for up to 2 nights , then the airport ,flight back to who knows where ,maybe Gatwick and a coach back to Southampton. Could be late afternoon and then get our car and a 4-5 hour run back home ! Rather be chilled out on the ship . That's our thoughts anyway .

In an ideal world yes , but with prices rising and energy costs , there will be people out there who struggle to buy a loaf to feed their families .Food banks and all that ,shame really . Where we can though we should make our own food from scratch . I am going to attempt to make my own fish cakes covered in breadcrumbs ! Feeling a little nervous as I have never been covered in breadcrumbs before 🙃😉

Morning ,hope everyone's ok 🙂 Sat reading the papers, thinking what shall I have for breakfast today ? Then I read ,that what we eat most of it is bad for us ,which we already knew. General rule of thumb ..If it tastes nice it's bad for you 🙃 What got me is all the papers quote "even our ready sliced bread !" What if I was to buy uncut bread ,is that any safer or better still ask the shop to slice it for me ,would that help ? What about shortbread , I heard they wont make it any longer😉 Have a nice day /breakfast everyone 🙂

Looking at the family dressed for a summers day in Consell (in film 50 sec) were not expecting that sort of weather as they cowered behind the wall . To be honest I doubt anyone was expecting the weather to be that bad.

I've been to both of them ,the Yorkshire one isn't as pretty as yours but handy for nipping over to Meadowhall (Meadow -Hell )

Only restrictions on UK air space (limited ) Just tracked a flight MCR- ABZ and that has just taken off .

I hope that is just camera angle and no lifeboats are damaged ? Think they all have to be seaworthy before going out to sea ?

Or people who need certain medication throughout the day . The times I have thought "We will be back in plenty of time to take it " Memo to self ..Take it with me ,take nowt for granted " Great to hear the ship is going to dock back in port as well .😀

I was told that for those onboard have been told stay in your cabins allowing crew to work emergency procedures. A couple ventured out of their cabin and were told off for doing so. I hope your all back onboard soon .🙂
