  1. We actually boarded and spent 2 nights on the ship before they booted us off.
  2. Yup, should have checked all the policies for pixie dust coverage too? Get real. Allianz is probably the most recommended annual travel policy out there, and it didn't cover anything for anyone. I also think it's very telling that the trip policy that RC themselves sells did not provide coverage - although I've always thought that their coverage was both expensive and lacking.
  3. Actually was in contact with the executive office. Had a call back from an abrupt lady who basically said too bad, so sorry.
  4. You may want to look at the actual policy terms and conditions. We thought the Allianz policy (which is very often recommended) covered this too. After 3 years with them, we will obviously not be renewing.
  5. Travel insurance EXCLUDES mechanical breakdown of the conveyance. Allianz denied the claim. Did you read the letter?
  6. Our group does not support blackmail. We are posting this as a warning and information to others. RC has already shown us their backside.
  7. Do not expect this post to last long since it does not cast RC in a favorable light. This was submitted to RC Corporate with all signatures disclosed. There has been no response. The 67 cruisers that signed this letter ranged from Pinnacle to first time cruisers and came from across the globe. Mr. Bayley, We are writing to express our displeasure over your handling of the now canceled Radiance sailing of April 26, 2024. The ship broke down on April 22nd – 4 days prior to our scheduled sailing. We were informed of the difficulty, but were encouraged by several communications from you to travel to Vancouver as you were repairing the ship. Similar breakdowns have happened to this ship over the years (2002, 2006, 2011, 2016, 2018, 2023, 2024) and resulted in delayed or canceled sailings. We assumed that you knew your own equipment and trusted that the ship would be repaired in time for our voyage, especially since it had just completed a maintenance dry-dock. That obviously did not happen. After traveling and boarding we were advised that the sailing would be delayed, then the next day advised that the sailing was canceled and told to vacate the ship. All of us have incurred unreimbursed travel expenses by relying on your encouragement that you had the problem well in hand. Many of us had either refundable or cancellable air, hotels, etc. that could have mitigated the financial damage had you either canceled – or offered us the opportunity to cancel – in a timely manner. You chose to do neither. Yes, you refunded our cruise fare and gave us discount coupons. But we are left holding the bag for significant expenses that not even travel insurance will respond to. Most travel insurance policies, including your own, have excluded coverage for this as they exclude the mechanical breakdown of your equipment. We have spent countless hours speaking with your, mostly, off-shore representatives and have had to educate them as to what happened and having to chase down correct refunds, missing credits and promised actions. It would seem that you would have a “go” team that would issue them some guidance – but apparently that didn’t happen. Now, after sticking us with the task of chasing everything down, you have now added insult to the financial injury. We were all provided a letter that at least our loyalty points (which cost you nothing) would still be applied. The fact is a very few have had them added, but most have received written responses that they are either “in process” or “will not be credited”. Some of us have received both. It seems that the reps are making it up as they go along. Shame on you Royal Caribbean. We have grown to expect better from you. We are actively sharing our experience with others and will continue to do so for years to come. You had the opportunity to take a big negative and ease it into an acceptable positive, but failed at nearly every turn. Again, shame on you RC. [Signed by 67 passengers, with more that came in late] (Names redacted here for privacy).
  8. You will need to go to the counter to show your passport for verification since you are in transit internationally. We just did this about 10 days ago from MCO to YVR via changeover in SEA.
  9. Perhaps the change to more of a banquet seating arrangement rather than the previous of an officer at every table has something to do with it? I know I'm not as interested in attending anymore.
  10. Sorry I wasn't clear - the "evening before" was reported to be about 11 PM Monday night off the coast between LA & SFO, followed by reduced speed. Lots of stuff floating in those busy waters. Again, 100% pure speculation - but seems to fit the repair timeline stated. I'm scheduled on the Friday Vancouver sailing so watching this closely..
  11. In this case, I read in two different spots by folks saying they were on board that the evening before it felt like they hit something fairly solid while cruising in open water. Would speculate maybe azipod prop damage - like this ship had a few years ago - which was replaced dockside in about 2 days. You remember that one chief? All speculation, of course.
  12. Completely follow your logic chief, but databases are established to be searchable, sortable and "public" should mean public. Should be as accessible as the CDC inspection reports. That said, I lost a great deal of faith in the accuracy of the reporting system while aboard ship (long TP) during the big shutdown.
  13. Thanks for the straight answer. Got to love government transparency.
  14. Depends on the extent of the outbreak. Can't sanitize everything in a few hours and the B2B passengers generally resist being run through a sanitizing fog.😁
  15. We are boarding Radiance in 5 days, so are closely following. No, we are not germaphobes. After over 40 cruises, mostly on Royal, this is the first time I've ever heard of (and read multiple confirmations) of a Captain ever making a general ship-wide announcement about an outbreak. That, coupled with the delayed boarding formally announced for tomorrow's arrival/departure, would lead me to believe it is more than one or two isolated incidents. Since the ship is on day 11 of a 12-night cruise, it is highly unlikely that they would get it from the hotel or airplane in transit due to the short gestation period - but certainly could have been exposed and brought it aboard at a port stop. In any event, generally a good deep sanitation of the ship will probably knock this down quickly. Chief - generally how soon would you expect the CDC pre-arrival form to be available on-line for viewing? Will have no effect on our cruise plans, but curious as to the extent reported.
  16. Reading on social media that there has been an outbreak of Noro on the Radiance in sufficient numbers for the Captain to make a public announcement. Anyone here currently on board confirm?
  17. I've always believed that with a guarantee you should expect to get the worst cabin in that class (noise, location, obstruction, etc.) and anything you get better that is a bonus.
  18. A dinner on the Meravigilia; about halfway through our cruise last year I mentioned to our waiter I was surprised at the lack of pasta on the YC menu (for an Italian line). He asked for my favorite, which is linguini & clams, white sauce. Next evening I was not presented with a menu - but was served a very freshly made seafood linguini that was absolutely awesome!
  19. Read everything on an offer very carefully. Most have an exclusion for preexisting and/or known conditions. Wording may be critical in your situation.
  20. Before the dock was built. BUT we are 3 for 3 at Ocean Cay. Have backed off of RC the last few years - doesn't seem like we fit their targeted demographics anymore.
  21. We are 0 for 6 at CC. Have been by there - but have never been on the island. Those misses were in the days before they turned it into an amusement park though.
  22. Also a higher point D+ (close to 500) that gave up pursuing the drive to P several years ago. Between the erosion of perks, the change to "amusement park of the seas" and now the higher pricing, we are doing more X (yes, I know common ownership) and MSC Yacht Club (only). They present much more value for our cruising $. RC has never really understood that loyalty is a 2-way street.
  23. Didn't say they were under the pool. OS's are located on deck 10 - pool is located on deck 11, but they are mostly under the Doghouse as I stated.
