  1. AND let's not forget Royal USED to do it with no issues. They made some kind of change that has totally mucked it up. Starting at 6:45 is NOT "MY time dining".
  2. Ever been to a public pool that allows kids? Heck, even private pools probably have had urine in them. I've never had any qualms about using hot tubs (on cruise ships or in hotels). I don't think of the "bad" things that can happen. I mean, there are people that won't touch railings or elevator buttons or shake hands (even before Covid). If it skeeves you out, don't use them. But, keep in mind the thousands of people that are using them week after week. How many are coming down with disease?
  3. How do you know the bolded? Vs that's when they're FORCED to sign up because it's the earliest time available?
  4. So much for that theory. If it was just me and DW, I'd be tempted to cancel and get the refund + 100%. Then simply spend the week in Florida (since airfare is already paid for).
  5. By any chance are you in Florida and the others are out of state? The sailing is on Saturday and they just came out with this email NOW? Anyone who needs to fly is already out the cost of the flights, possible hotel and transportation cost, and possibly vacation time.
  6. I get the second one. That actually makes a lot of sense. But how do you sell too many GTY? It shouldn't be too hard to program the computer to say: "Total number of <cabin type> - pick your own - GTY <cabin type>" If that formula = 0, don't sell any more. So let's say there's 500 balcony rooms. If they sell 300 GTY and 200 "pick your own", there are no more balconies available. Now, if they're assuming they can bump the GTY into suites, then the suites sell out, that's poor business practice IMO. Have balconies "sell out", then open them again once you assign GTY's into suites. Just my opinion of course.
  7. Except uploading a pic is relatively new, and taking ID photos prior to boarding is not. And your math isn't really accurate. Using your math... 3000 * 10 = 30,000 seconds. 30,000/60 = 500 minutes. 500/60 = 8.3 hours. The Oasis classes have 5000+ passengers. I don't really think it took over 8 hours just to get everyone's picture.
  8. I'm not so sure. On our last cruise, KNOWING we still had three towels "checked out", I went to the towel station to ask what our count was and was told "zero".
  9. IMO, taking action against the passenger is doing something FOR the magician. If Royal DOESN'T take some kind of action against the pax, that shows they don't care for their employees (and yes, I consider an entertainer an employee).
  10. I've been able to link reservations via the website. Never tried the app. BUT, once they're linked via the website, they've been linked on the app. Have you tried the website?
  11. Not the poster you quoted, but *I* would want the passenger confined to his cabin until put off in the next port at the bare minimum. Suspending/banning him would be acceptable also. Do YOU think there should be no repercussions against the assailant?
  12. Not that I disagree with you, but couldn't you use the same argument that women should be allowed to go topless on the pool deck? 😉
  13. I agree with you... I think it's about the electrical needs, not the heat output. Calling @chengkp75.
  14. That's ok... if you make a scene, I'm sure it will be OK. 😉
  15. But, many people DON'T leave from major airports. None of the three airports within 2 hours of us have lockers. And it could actually be cheaper to check luggage than it would be to store it in a locker (depending on the size of the locker). SW doesn't charge for checked bags. Some other airlines allow free checked bags if you have their credit card. There is a benefit to being carry on only and there's also a benefit to checking luggage. I figure it's up to each traveler to decide what's best for them.
  16. That's possible. But it's been around for a while. DW and I used it on our first cruise on Oasis in 2013. And is it an issue because too many people are using it or too many people are using traditional? Keep in mind, "My Time Dining" is really anything but if you're limited to when you can use it. IMO, Royal is trying to make everyone happy and in the process is making no one happy.
  17. And when MTD started, and for years after, RCI had no problem pulling it off. No, I'm not convinced it takes more staff for MTD. Regardless, RCI has found a way to Royally screw it up.
  18. On our last cruise, there was still what seemed a full staff at the entrance to MDR every night. This was for early traditional. And since our table was next to the entrance, I saw there were staff at the entrance throughout.
  19. We were on her in July. Actually really liked the ship. I wasn't crazy about the production shows, but still went. They weren't bad, just not my style. I think I have a link to the post-cruise video in my signature (if not, I'll add it soon).
  20. Personally, I don't consider having to wash clothes as part of a "vacation". I want underwear for every day (at least a week), probably (for a cruise) 1/2 of the length in clean socks (if I only wear them to dinner/show, I might wear them again, if I'm wearing all day, I want a clean set for every day), 2-3 clean t-shirts, 2-3 clean collared shirts, 2-3 shorts, and a pair of slacks. I have gotten to the point where I can pack for 7 days in a carry on. It's tight in the winter (heavier clothes), looking forward to warmer weather when I don't needs long sleeve t's and sweatshirts.
  21. Those look like two different locations... there's some kind of pier in the 2nd picture that's not in the first.
  22. I agree it's not a bad dining time. HOWEVER, I think it is a bad time if you want to catch one of the shows (don't the production shows start at 8?). I mean, yes, you can probably get in/out in an hour, but IMO, that might be rushing (especially if you have a large group), and doesn't help if you want to go back to your room and change or something.
  23. That's a great explanation. BUT, if they want to use MTD as a selling point, they need to make it attractive. Not having it start until 6:45 isn't a good way to do that.
  24. According to PP, more people do want 5:30. While not unusual, 6:15 (which is probably closer to 6:30-6:45 before food is delivered) is actually later than we normally eat. SOMETHING had to have changed. MTD worked well pre Covid.
  25. Why would they need more staff for MTD than traditional?
