  1. I have read all the comments on this thread and am as confused now as when I started. All points made are perfectly valid ones.

My dilemma is that I have a February 2022 cruise booked to the USA and Caribbean which needs the balance paying imminently and it’s obviously not an inconsequential amount of money.
At today’s date, we are not allowed into the USA, although Biden has stated November, there is no confirmed date. The other issue is that of being off loaded in America if contracting COVID. Part of me says “sod it, it is what it is” as we’re not getting any younger, the other part is slightly terrified!
Cunard have reduced their balance die dates for Spring cruises to 30 days. I so wish P&O would do the same as by then we’d have some insight into how things are.
    Confused.com!! 😂

I stand by my comment that there is negativity on this site by a minority, but the accusation that I am naive is laughable because I don’t believe in that P&O is failing me sorry but I don’t and your version of realism is just in your mind.

The point of P&O losing touch with there base just wander which base is that, as far as I know bookings are up so they must be doing something right.

Bookings may be up in anticipation as we’re all desperate to cruise again. At this stage of the game, we’ll wait to see how many of those bookings evolve into final payments being made. Time will tell. Glass half empty? No, a realistic outlook, not rose tinted

I have a cruise booked for December and booked knowing full well that the current practice of only being allowed off the ship on organised tours will probably still be in operation during that cruise.

I will be more than happy not to leave the ship and will enjoy the relative quietness of the ship if most passengers are on tours.

In order for me to even consider going on a ships tour, I'd need to be assured that the coaches were only half full with seating well spaced out.

Like everyone else, I know what the worst case scenario is likely to be with regard to excursions - but, unlike some, am more than happy to accept them. A quiet day on board with almost everyone else ashore is my idea of heaven.

I accept though, that it might not be yours!

Totally agree, but my February cruise was booked last March when our cruise on Oceana was cut short due to COVID. It is a 35 night cruise costing us a lot of money - too much and too long to take a punt on whether we’ll be allowed off the ship. We are going on another cruise in November and are happy to stay on the ship if needs be, we booked on that understanding and accept those terms and it’s only two week and a reasonable cost.

Why do you expect P&O to change? Everyone due to sail anytime up to early December have already had to pay their balance, so if you are hoping for a change of heart from them, I think you are in for a big disappointment.

I don’t expect them to but wondered how a cruise to a country that we are not allowed into could possibly go ahead. But things change rapidly and if they shorten the balance due date, things may be clearer. I am well aware, thank you, that everyone has had to pay their balance, indeed, I have too for a November cruise.

We're on that one as well, though booked direct so our balance is a little later.  It does seem a bit of a gamble at the moment.  We previously looked at moving our booking to 2023, but we decided on something else for the early 2023, so that isn't really an option anymore.  We're trying to be positive and keeping our fingers crossed that it will go ahead as planned and with the ability to go ashore independently.  It's such a great itinery.  The only excursion we're planning on doing is to NASA, and I don't relish the idea of staying aboard or shelling out for tours for the other 34 days when the ship is due to visit lots of places we've never been to.  And I have to try an oyster po' boy in New Orleans!

    🤞

Agree, a real gamble a d a really good itinerary. Hope P&O delay balance payment on it as how can we book a cruise to a country who won’t let us in! We haven’t planned anything on it yet but hope to do NASA also as the last time we went was in the 80s! We’ve thought of moving the cruise but are pretty booked up for next year with other moved cruises and are doing the leg of the world from Hong Kong in 2023. Decisions, decisions! 😂

  6. I’m due on the USA/ Caribbean cruise in February. The balance is due to be paid next month(booked with  an agent) At the moment, USA aren’t allowing us in.  Combined with the current situation of not being able to get off the ship independently and not being able to transfer booking after balance has been paid, I suspect there won’t be many balances paid.

A lot of this seems to be down to the new website, which makes it difficult to see all the available cabins.  It's possible, certainly, but you shouldn't have to work at it - they should all show immediately as options.

Seems a crazy way to do business. Websites should make it easier for customers to book, not more difficult.

I actually didn’t find it at all difficult. I was able to pick any available cabin with choice of deck and position on ship.

It was working on Friday but I just tried and can't get to it now.  I can sign into my account but can't actually find anything.  They seem to be reducing what we can do rather than trying to give us the access that we previously had.

Oh good. Glad it’s just not me. I thought I was being stupid!!!! Thanks
