  1. They fill a table and you all order together. Sometimes some people will order soup as well as a starter and you will wait for them to finish and the main course is served to you all at the same time. It can be slow at times if you have a slow eater but if we really want to see a show, we will skip desert and politely excuse ourselves. We really enjoy freedom dining, you meet all sorts of interesting people

I've just realized why I disliked Azura, it was the general noise!  Loud music, the seascreen blaring out all day and everywhere seemed busy and crowded.

I agree that the clientele on Adult only are getting much older, but that doesn't bother me.  They spend their time in Tiffanys (Oriana) and we like to be out and about on deck, playing quoits or table tennis and sunbathing and relaxing.  It doesn't bother us what age the others are.  My husband is a pretty fit 80 year old, me 71 and our friend is another very fit 82 year old.  She goes to the gym 3 times a week!!  So we are lucky not to need wheelchairs and long may it last.

That’s how I feel about Britannia, too frantic and busy. Everywhere seems to be a thoroughfare to somewhere else. Ventura, I can cope with, only been on Azura once a long time ago but would go again if right price, right time, right place.

  3. We were on Aurora in January and Britannia last week. We much prefer smaller ships and agree with simonpjd and hope they don’t pension off the smaller ships. Everyone has their different opinions about ships and there should be options for everyone’s taste.

  4. I bought my shares with the advice on the P&O site and I just have to email my request and they check the shareholder list and pay the benefit in a few days. Once they have you on that list they do not need proof of purchase each time.

I do the same. Just e mail them and remind them that they hold your details and Bob's your uncle, as if by magic your benefit appears as additional OBC

  5. We had Fire and Ice earmarked, but then saw Cities and Ice from Southampton in Sept.Belfast,Dublin and Amsterdam are 3 places I haven't been.Been to Oslo and Southampton more local for us.We booked it on D2 a few weeks ago and was cheaper than booking online.

Belfast has been replaced with Cork☹️. We booked last week so knew when we booked. Bit disappointed as Belfast is somewhere I’d like to go at some stage.

  6. Just booked our first cruise, and pre booked a junior suite 8066 on discovery 2 for next sept 2019 followed by a 3 night stay in Majorca. We’ve had enough of the same hotel same country since 1997 and thought we’d give this a try.

Well looking forward to it, counting the days lol

Brilliant. Sure you’ll enjoy it. Be warned, the cruising bug is easy to catch!!! 😂

  7. 5% booking discount is applicable to all new guests making a new Select Price booking from our new summer 2020 collection before 3 December 2018. [The summer 2020 collection relates to all applicable cruises sailing from 2 April 2020.] This discount is additional to Select Price benefits and is not applicable on Early Savers. We reserve the right to withdraw the offer in whole or on individual cruises at any time.

10% booking discount is applicable to past guests making a new Select Price booking from our new summer 2020 collection before 3 December 2018. [The summer 2020 collection relates to all applicable cruises sailing from 2 April 2020.] This discount is additional to Select Price benefits and is not applicable on Early Savers. We reserve the right to withdraw the offer in whole or on individual cruises at any time.

This is from the T & C on their website. No mention that the shown website price is already discounted by 5%.

  8. Hi yes that is correct. The 5% new passenger discount has already been taken off the price before showing on the screen so any new passengers will just pay the screen price. For us past guests we have already had the new passenger discount then P&O give us another 5% to make it the 10%. It is very misleading on all of the communications from them and I have told them so. Still happy with the price though we have booked Britannia for September 2020. Hope you have a great time on Iona.

That could be why I couldn’t get my figures to work out!

That’s really misleading, false advertising. Wonder how they manage to get away with it

  9. I think on here we are pretty much the same. I want to be on a ship that feels like a ship and not a floating resort. By the way Arcadia also has a closing roof. I loved Adonia, Oriana. I did not like Black Watch, they had let her go badly. Enjoyed Balmoral and Braemar, but I digress!

We are only a small section of cruisers. It seems to me that the midsize ships will all go and for me cruising will be over.

Totally agree, I can cope with Azura and Ventura but anything bigger is too much. Can’t see me trying Iona. Am dipping toe in the water with Marella soon as their ships are about the right size. We’ll have to see how that works out. Time will tell !!!

  10. Aurora

    Arcadia

    Oceana

    Azura

    Oriana

    Britannia

and having got off Ventura yesterday, have crossed her off the list forever. Still trying to get through to my travel agent to cancel booked cruise on her in 2019 and rebook another ship.

    Goodness, what went wrong?

  11. I'm looking to book a cruise on Discovery but when I book online I can only book a generic balcony cabin. If I want to pick my cabin I need to pay £48. That’s fair enough but it seems as if by then I’ve paid the whole deposit. My query is, what if when I go to book a particular cabin, there are only the ones in a rubbish position left? Is it any different booking in a tui travel shop, do they have access to what cabins are available before you pay? Thanks in anticipation of some assistance 🤞
