  2. We are first timers in a Penthouse on the Ruby .. Can a regular tell me where the concierge lounge is. It was mentionned above on the Royasl thanks Bob
  3. Can suite passengers get breakfast delivered early on the last day?
  4. We are on the Ruby thia Nov. and the Emerald Feb. 2024 While on a HAL ship in @017 we had a final day where all chaise loungers were strapped down aft on deck 9&10 Staff informed us at FLL after disembarkation the ship was off for drydock. sure enough containers were being loaded by a large crane and scores of tradespeople were boarding as we went down the jetway. Later reports on the forum the smell of glue was prevalent when that ship entered service again Bob
  5. Is there a site where I can find upcoming dry dock schedules for each PCL ships? thanks Bob
  6. We have a complimentary Specialty Dining Dinner on embarkation day in Nov. 2023 Approximately when can I go on the app to book a restaurant and a specific time? thanks newby Bob
  7. Can a time be booked through the APP? If so how far in advance? ( sail date is Nov. 6 ) thanks Newby Bob
  8. Watching snakes chasing lizards onscreen for 4 years in a BBC episode shows how cheap HAL is. In my survey I suggested HAL bring aboard tribute bands who play music fitting the demographics of the passengers. Off to try Princess after 12 years of HAL.
  9. We were the surprised recipients of a dense fog delay on a trip out of Tampa years ago. We were lucky having arrived early and were allowed access to an air conditioned hall. The fire marshal stopped people from entering the enormous building after 500 sweaty souls got in. The unlucky rest had to line up outside in 90 degree heat and high humidity. The ship got docked at 1pm. The frantic rush of debarking passengers was dramatic. Flights home were definitely at risk. We now sail from FLL. Bob
  10. Any way to find out which ships are going in and when? Thanks Bob
  11. Deck 7 shows a library. Can you advise this newbie if it has books or is it a drop off for our books that have been read? Thanks Bob
  12. First timer wondering where the elite lounge is on Ruby and what hours it operates? thanks Bob
  13. We have cruised on HAL since 2010 Floridagal50 and just by luck never have booked over American Thanksgiving until this Nov. I am used to a few toddlers but never 400. We were on the Nieuw Statendam. Ironically we berthed next to a Carnival ship at San Juan that had a roller coaster, water park and zip lines!! I have to wonder if the majority of our 400 looked at their parents and moaned about the lack of those amenities on our ship of geriatrics HaHa Take care Bob
  14. Whereas we get one day or maybe a long weekend our Neighbours to the south get one week off (school kids) We were on a Holland America back-to-back cruise that started one week before their Thanksgiving then the second week encompassed their holiday. The first week there might have been 10 kids, toddlers and teens. The Thanksgiving week the guest services said there were 400 kids. Normally the aft pool was for adults and the mid pool was for families and persons under 21 but not so on the busy second week. Octogerians abandoned their water sanctuary to the cannonball crowd!! So, the moral of the story is if you go for a cruise to relax and find serenity x out the turkey loving week down south...just saying!! Buoy Bob
  15. DHP1 you mentioned 22 hour flight home As we are contemplating a cruise down under and live near YYZ can you tell me who you are flying with and how many legs? thanks Bob
  16. Our flight home from Fort Lauderdale was delayed several times yesterday, Saturday Nov. 26 We sat at the departure gate G3 and when the aircraft finally arrived at 3:30pm, a frenetic foot race by the arriving passengers ensued. It clicked in that the delayed arrival was full of harried potential cruise passengers that were supposed to get on cruise ships leaving that afternoon. We looked at each other and felt so sad for so many that might not get their bags and get to the ships in time We were so concentrating on our delayed departure (actually several time changes) it wasn't until watching the red faces, , the running bodies and the wild looks on most arriving passengers with what was about to transpire. It was so sad to see. Sobering thoughts Bob
  17. Yes, REOVA those plugs were available in the sitting area between the bed and the washroom My wife was musing over the lack of plugs in the washroom itself. PS. After 458 days on HAL over the last 12 years we are making a huge leap to Princess mostly to see if their entertainment is better and to compare their culinary delights
  18. Thanks RuthC We saw the dishes and trays in the hallways but no stools Bob
  19. I do remember our Med cruise on the Carnival Legend/Sunshine and commenting on their wide hallways compared to HAL ships. Then we entered our suite on Carnival, and the balcony was very narrow. Any tableware or trays on HAL ships left in a hallway are cause for concern for mobility challenged individuals and HAL has lots of those for sure Bob PS...We will not be sailing again over American Thanksgiving. PPS...signs along side of the hot tubs at the aft Lido pool state you have to be 16 years or older. Many 6–10-year-old kids were ensconced in the two tubs with no visible parent in sight over multiple days Bob
  20. Thanks, WriterOnDeck I did not know that about potential covid being the reason for dishes or trays in the hallway outside verandah rooms Bob
