  1. Unbelievable -- they are dealing on the phone with inter cruises. NO ONE FROM CUNARD HAS GONE TO THE PIER. Right or wrong as far as some think, maybe the corporation believe as there is ongoing retrieval and nothing can be immediately done with soaking cases, and the possible contraband [????] which is out of Cunard's control, they don't think it's necessary for a Cunard person to be present at the pier. I can feel the frustration and as a box ticking exercise, it's probably not the best PR but in reality, what can a Cunard rep do which isn't already being done?
  2. A glass [or two if I can still stand up without falling over] of tea after dinner is most welcome. Make that a Long Island Iced Tea. 🙂
  3. Our Box experience was many years ago so the half must have grown up. 🙂
  4. The cards given to some cabins gives you queue jumping 'rights', but only until the tenders are opened up to all passengers.
  5. Oh. I remember you saying. It's still Q1-Q4 in the brochure up to May'25 I shall keep an eye open and also see if that changes. I'm always up for giving our cards to others if we don't use them.
  6. Certain cabins are also given priority cards to use until open tendering is available. I think that's Q1 to Q4, but that's for going ashore. Coming back there's no priority for anyone as it's purely on a queue up basis.
  7. No problem at all. 🙂 We wouldn't book a cruise on the strength of any entertainment [apart from a specialist cruise such as Big Band or classical Music cruises] as it doesn't figure that highly on our daily routine but to some folk, it's important and it's always a good idea to get facts straight. I would say one in three of our cruises have had acrobats hanging from a rope suspended from some stage ceiling contraption. I always hope it's strong enough.
  8. I go one better. I have a substantial but elegant leather rucksack and that stays on my shoulder oron my lap and does not leave my side until we get on the ship. My ipad also goes in it. The reverse happens when we disembark until we are in the car.
  9. Didn't know whether to like or laugh!
  10. Soggy but revivable doesn't work with all clothes.
  11. No, it's not the end of the world but to be fair to those whose luggage has gone into the drink, it's easy to say that from an arm chair perspective. Whilst I'm, in the 'probably not Cunard's ultimate responsibility' camp, it's still very, very upsetting. I have clothes which are cruise only now and with the best will in the world no matter how well insured I am, cannot be replaced and I would be very upset.
  12. Seems familiar to me. I always add 'brown sauce' to the list for my crispy bacon open 'toastie'. I can't imagine brown sauce, or ketchup for that matter, is a QG speciality, 🙂
  13. We have also booked, once, with friends and that made the occasion. We had a half bottle of champagne per couple. We'd do it again, as Daisy indicated, if it was to aid celebrating a special occasion but wouldn't bother otherwise.
  14. Define sophisticated entertainment! Some of the best guest entertainers are the tribute bands. Some of them can get the whole theatre rocking, and not in a sea swell kind of way. Yes, quite a few trivia sessions.
  15. Cunard do have magicians [and/or illusionists], and acrobats who are usually the ones who hang from ropes and perform rather dangerous looking movements with their partner. It's down to scheduling as to when they perform so it's not every cruise.
  16. Quaint, but very effective!!😀
  17. Sorry, I have no idea. Our wonderful agent always books for us. I wish I could give you his name but that's against CC's rules. All I can say is he's a one man band and everyone I have introduced him to, thinks like us. We have pre registered for a cabin or two but that doesn't guarantee you a cabin. The only perk is if the price does go up before we book, for a certain length of time the pre release price will be honoured. edit no idea other than to say we don't get any links sent to us so if you haven't an agent and don't want to book via the phone, it's probably a case of book via My Cunard. Others should be able to help you more than I can.
  18. Yes there is theatre entertainment every night and great Insight lectures during the day but good main theatre entertainment depends on your expectations. Do not expect Broadway level although the ship's company do entertain. As a newbie, the shows will be new to you so you won't have yet another repeat of a show you have already seen three times etc, and be aware, occasionally some of the individual acts can be almost sleep inducing in their blandness. Some acts though are fantastic so go with an open mind and be prepared to be right royally pleased when the acts delight.
  19. Literally on just released cruises? A little time later, maybe but at the time of release? I haven't followed pricing apart from to see how the cabins we have booked 'go' but I am amazed prices will drop on initial release.
  20. Available to book for past Cunard clients at 1pm BST on Wednesday 4th Oct. On general sale 5th Oct. Edit Specific cabins will be available to book, or they better had be 🙂. Maybe the GUA conditions are a sort of Saver fare?
  21. Yes,david,Mississaug and Pushpit, of course prices drop, especially nearer the time of sailing, but not initially on just announced cruises, which was the question posed by jimdee3636.
  22. Our cabins are usually nearly or are all sold out within a day or two so couldn't say, so if this is a genuine question, my gut would say probably not initially, or at least for a while but not having followed other cabin pricing, I really don't know for definite. I have seen a remaining one cabin of four shoot up though and remain at that price until booked.
  23. Easier still, send them to the laundry! 🙂
  24. They have yet another call category in Southampton which went 'Green Cards. QG,' and then I presume PG, Diamond etc 'Green cards' caused a little stir with our American friends. 🙂
  25. My advice, for what it's worth, time to book depends on two main criteria. Cunard have a process called fluid pricing and if a particular cruise/cabin category is selling well, they will up the price without notice. Also, if there aren't many cabins in the level of your choice, or the position is important [eg two cabins adjacent] don't leave it too long, to book. As to timing, our crossings have been on April and May. April was a Northern route and it was a bit rocky at times and May was a Southern route and it was quite calm apart from the Azores where it was a bit windy and a challenge for the Bridge to edge in and out.
