Just booked an M Class penthouse for our at sea wedding and wanted to know what to expect to get maximum enjoyment from our first Celebrity cruise. I'm fully expecting the ship and cabin to show its age (it's the Infinity) but the only other cruise ships I've been on are NCL Jade and Pearl so I'm not sure how the ship stacks up against those.

I'm pretty easy to please regardless so I'm more concerned with what to expect from the service standpoint so I can make this trip as special for my fiancée as possible (hopeless romantic over here 😅).  What tips/advice can you give us that first-timers might not be aware of? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts 😊

Hi, if you send me an email (cef530@icloud.com) I'll be happy to share with you how the 50th anniversary vow renewal ceremony took place, and how I handled it.  I understand that yours will be a wedding ceremony, but there are many similarities you might want to think about.

Include your screen name in your email to me.

We hosted a wedding renewal ceremony for friends in an M class penthouse.  The staff had it set up on deck, but then it started to rain.  They efficiently moved everything to the living and dining area and everything went well.  You picked an excellent location.

    Hey Linda:

    WE did?

    Or was it I DID?

As I recall, Stan and Pam were in the PH with me on that cruise....

    • Haha 1
  3. I sailed in my first PH back in 2010 (Constellation 6148).  I have done nothing but suites ever since.

In 2020, I have 3 PH suites booked.

Just got off Silhouette in November, where I was solo in the PH; that got me 432 points....  Luminae and Michael's were both EXCELLENT.  The two liters of booze are always welcome.

Wait til you are discovered standing in line at Guest Relations....  Out they come, running; they address you, by name as they pull you out of the line...  Funny and  embarrassing at the same time....

My TA is now trained to get me a PH, although I will also take a RS.  Life's too short to just settle....

  4. It sure would help to have the AFTER floorpan for the PH on M-class.  I have 6148 booked for a B2B in August 2020, followed by a WB Panama Canal cruise that October.  I'll be on Summit for those cruises, but the PHs on both ships are the same....

A friend keeps telling me that after their Edgification, the M-class penthouses will have 2 bedrooms.

    Here are my questions:

    Is the butler's pantry toast?

    Will there be 2 bedrooms?

    Will the wraparound veranda remain?

Will there still be the 4 closets?

    Is the grand entry remaining?

I miss the virtual tours and the floorpans on Celebrity's dysfunctional website....

  5. Are the tubs in RS and above jetted?  Are there grab bars for safely entering and exiting these tubs?

Has Celebrity improved on the so-called fridges that DO NOT cool anything?

I'm still not convinced that the Edge class is for me....  I only hope that the Edgification of the M-class ships isn't excessive.  Getting rid of those pianos in the PH suites will be a big improvement; keeping the full-sized refrigerator/freezer and microwave will make me happy....

  6. SHIP: Silhouette

    CABIN #: 1616

    DECK #: 11

    CLASS: Penthouse Suite

    AREA: Mid Ship

BED NEAR: Separate bedroom:  very spacious

QUIET?: YES; never heard either of my neighbors; or the elevators

BALCONY VIEW: amazing, in both directions

BALCONY SIZE: two balconies; one opens from living room; other, with jacuzzi, opens from bedroom

    WIND A PROBLEM?: nope

    SOOT A PROBLEM?: nope

PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: Amazing suite. Way too big for one person, but I did my best....

The little fridge is no match for the full-sized fridge on M-class penthouses

Plenty of easy-to-reach outlets around the suite

MY opinion, but that piano has GOT TO GO; wasted space

Main bathroom larger than some cabins on the ship; tub hard to get into/out of

Veranda is no match to the huge one on M-class

Plenty of room for 4 people:  2 bathrooms; walk-in closet; loads of storage

Pray that Dharma is your butler; he's AMAZING!!!

  7. Having had unlimited specialty dining while on the Thanksgiving cruise aboard Silhouette, I agreed to dine in Le Petit Chef one evening.  It was quite enjoyable.  I, for one, will NOT miss Qsine.  That restaurant wasted food in gargantuan amounts....

Portion size in LPC is reasonable.  You will not leave hungry.

I suggest the early seating, unless you don't object to still be eating at 9:30 or later.

Please make text darker......can hardly read anything now!

The all-white backggets a big DISLIKE from me.  The last time y’all tried that it was a dismal failure.

Put some color on the page so us old foljs can see what’s going on.  And, while you’re at it, make the orint larger for thise of uscwho are gisually challenged.

Right now, I give this new site a D.

  9. Even with unlimited specialty dining when in a PH suite, I seldom ise it. Once pr twice, and I’m done. I ate in Sushi on 5 for the first time this past January....

I hope the option will be available on Silhouette in November. If so, I might give it a try.

  10. Unfortunately, this likely does not fall under the category of 'inadvertent'. These folks know better but choose not to care:(

You’re probably correct that this behavior is nit inadvertent; it is more likely the result of poor home training.

It is, nonetheless, a pet peeve of mine.

  11. in an RS or and above you also have premium drinks packages for all in the suite, unlimited free dinning in all venues, unlimited internet for each in suite, Two bottles of spirits of your choice in the room and your mini bar refreshed each day with your choice of sodas, beers and ciders.

This is however an increase in the level of service you receive which is difficult to put your finger on.This what makes the suite experience so sweet. The way the officers will sit and chat in MC or the Helipad sail aways or the bridge tours. These all add to an amazing experience ..... There is a down side though.... for each step up it is VERY hard to step back down

AMEN to everything you said. Don't forget about the services of a shoreside concierge prior to the cruise. I really like that one.

And if you're ever lucky enough to garner a PH on one of the M-class ships, you'll be in Hog Heaven.... That butler's pantry with full-sized refrigerator/freezer and microwave, is to die for... and so is that 1100 sq ft veranda....

  12. definitely antarctica for us - but on one of those smaller expedition-type sailings vs large cruise ship like X. Yikes is that pricy! Pulling the trigger on a trip that expensive is tough for me. Maybe when we officially retire. :)

When you DO pull that trigger, opt for an expedition ship that makes landings as opposed to the drive-by that Celebrity offers.

And yes, it is expensive. But it is worth every penny.

I did my 2 cruises to Antarctica on Orient Line's Marco Polo in 1999/2000 for Y2k, and again in 2000/2001 for the millennium. Each cruise offered 5-6 landings via zodiac.

I still need to see Iceland and the Galapagos....
