  1. Haven't they clamped down on suite guests in Blu? It's only on space available anyway, right?

I had no problem eating there in October.

But things change all of the time. I suggest you find out once you board.

Blu was hardly ever full whenever I passed by....

  2. We will be sailing next month, first time in a suite, made reservations for early seating - assume now in MDR. Would love to eat at Luminae. Do we need to call Celebrity and talk about this or leave our reservations as is and talk to Luminae or butler or someone else when we get on ship? I heard Luminae often is booked so how quickly do we need to do this or can we keep our MDR reservations as is and just walk into Luminae ( and possibly wait) on any given evening?

If you are in a suite, Luminae is your restaurant.

HOWEVER, you can eat in the MDR, and/or Blu, if you wish.

Your reservation may say something else, but that is mainly because the Celebrity website is totally dysfunctional.

No reservations are required for Luminae; simply show up and you'll be seated.

    Have a fabulous cruise!!!

  3. Not true for all items. My dress shirt always comes back from being washed, pressed/ironed.

I was in the PH on Infinity this past October. We gave our laundry to our butler, expecting to see it a couple of days later,

The following morning I opened a closet to see the laundry:

Every item was on a hanger!!

Every item had been pressed!! undies, bras, ratty old pajamas. EVERYTHING. I was amused and horrified at the same time....

I never send anything I can't live without to the laundry. NEVER.

  4. I'm not a poolside person because I usually have a large veranda.

But, on rare occasions when I go to a show, I sit where I see a vacant one. If someone has the ba**s to confront me, I simply smile and tell them that I am NOT moving. This has only happened once.

  5. What do you recommenced doing? Just slapping a luggage tag on a 12 pack and leaving it with our bags or do we need to carry it on?

You can do either. You can also bring water.

But leaving sodas with checked baggage could result in them being jostled and shaken.

Be careful when opening checked sodas....

  6. On our two Equinox cruises, concierge balconies, a few years ago our stewards told us that they no longer could do that for us.

I don't wait for THEM to do this for ME. I remove the items myself; and put them in a nearby cabinet.

I then post a note on the outside of the so-called fridge telling them WHERE the items are located.

Before disembarking, I return the items to the so-called fridge.

  7. This can be done on S class ships only, because the barriers on M class ships are fixed in place

    Not completely true.

I have opened the balcony divider between PH and adjoining S1 on Infinity and Constellation, with NO problem.

I'll be sailing on Summit in April, and will check out whether it can be done on that ship as well.

This doesn't mean that ALL dividers open; but some really do.

  8. Love it!!!

I apply a similar logic in my selection of cruise itineraries:

    1. The longer the duration of the cruise the better as it almost always weeds out any families with small children.

    2. I usually travel during the school year when children should be in school being educated (not on vacation).

    3. Avoid holiday cruises at all cost (including the month of March for Spring Break)!

    4. If I cruise in the summer, it's in Europe or somewhere else around the planet.

All of these efforts mitigate symptoms for my chronic allergies related to children. :D

You get a HIGH FIVE and a FIST BUMP from me, vulcan!!!

But I must admit that our group, the Woo Hooers, will be sailing on a 12-night Caribbean cruise on Silhouette during the Thanksgiving holiday in 2018. HOPEFULLY there won't be an overabundance of youngsters onboard....

    Fingers crossed....

  9. Has anyone had any success opening the divider between the penthouses on Deck 6 on Summit?

For the San Juan to Cape Liberty repo cruise in April, our group has booked both o

    Penthouses, and the neighboring S1s.

I know that the S1 dividers open; but don't know about the PH-PH divider.

  10. No that I'm retired and elderly, I try NOT to cruise from June through September, because of the large number of cruising youngsters, but also because of hurricane season (I live on the Texas Gulf coast.)

I also try to avoid most holidays and during Spring break.

  11. I totally agree with Gonzo on the comment about AFT balconies on M-class ships. The wraparound balcony that come with the PH suites cannot compare!!!! They're totally awesome; 1098 sq ft is HUGE!!!!

Occasionally an idiot will throw down a banana peel or apple core; but even on a cruise you can't fix STUPID....

  12. Hey there! Of course I remember. Last time I paid under 400 for a balcony for seven nights. Come and go on Equinox with us. I'm so unknowledgeable about Celebrity!

We are doing Freedom TA in October this year and b2b on Vision in mid January 2018 from Galveston!

Sorry, but i just did a b2b in October on Infinity.

Prepping for a Summit repo in April (San Juan to NJ.)

I did Equinox Jan 2016. You're gonna love her, especially the buffet area. For a big ship, it never felt crowded.

My email address is in my signature; let me know what you think once you return.

Vision will be xailing out of Galveston? I haven't been keeping up with RCI since 2015, when I missed my cruise.

  13. How do you arrange the sail away party? We will be sailing with a large group and we have a Royal Suite and I would love to do this!

Tradle: being in a RS, you should know that you have the services of a shoreside concierge who is dedicated to contacting the people booked in CS and above cabins. The concierges can help you arrange a sailaway in your suite.

If you haven't already heard from this person, simply contact Capt Club and ask for them to have the shoreside concierge for your ship contact you.

They normally reach out AFTEr final payment for your cruise has been received.

  14. If you are travelling with friends/family in other cabins consider a sail away party in your suite. Our butlers have been great in organizing the event - sending invitations to guests, bringing appetizers, serving drinks, etc. Our experience has been this is one thing they enjoy doing the most! Of course a little extra tip we give for doing this helps I am sure. :)

The other thing we enjoy on days when we don't have a full schedule in port is to have the butler set-up breakfast on the balcony.

Enjoy your trip and don't be afraid to ask the butler how he can help you.

AMEN to the sailawY. In 2014 i had over 100 invited guests show up for a sailaway in one of the penthouses on Connie!! They ALL brought snacks with them. W.i had pre-ordered 10 bottles of champagne, along with snacks, crom my butler. It was so much fun.

We repeated it, in 2016, on Infinity. We also had a group birthday party and a 50th an iversary vow renewal ceremony. Needless to say, the butler was rewarded for his over-the-top efforts.

Methinks they THRIVE on this, especially if they're compensated.... They do not appear to enjoy standing around with little to do (my opinion.)

  15. Xmax: my email address is

    cef530 @gmail .com

Alabaster Cruiser: I remember that. And I got credit for both of my cruises in Club Costa. I don't sasil on Costa anymore.

On a 2010 Connie cruise, I got to dine with Capt Gerry. When I told him I had sailed on Amerikanis in the 70s, his face lit up!! He went on to tell me that he was also on the ship at the same time!!!!

    SMALL WORLD....

  16. What gets me about the buckaroos is Celebrity was charging $249 in December for unlimited internet for seven days on Reflection. Sister cruise line charged me $10 a day for unlimited internet on Allure of the Seas. How does that make any sense?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Absolutely!!! And their internet is AWFUL.

I've suggested that folks on a roll call band together and split the cost of an unlimited package. The only down side is that only one person can be online at a time; takes some flexibility and patience. But, in the end, it'll save you some $$$$.

    Just sayin....

  17. If you're NoT happy with the limited internet packages, comment to that effect on your post-cruise comment form.

I always take along a composition book, and make notes: good, bad, and ugly. When I get home I create a word document with my comments. When the comment survey arrives, I simply copy & paste the word document in the comment box.

Celebrity is making many buckaroos on this internetprici g; time for them to be called on the carpet for it, especially since it is anything but fast....

  18. There is a difference between real emergencies and what most people are talking about with being "in touch." In 1990, you could contact the cruise company to relay a message to the ship. In more recent times, people had the ability to reach the ship with an expensive phone call, or passengers could plug in when they got to port. Now most people are "in touch" by sending a text to see if the cat is ok or to make sure Olive did her homework or they're checking work email to see that, yes, they were copied on the weekly distribution of project deadlines. There is a difference, so stop with the false equivalency. Even with an emergency at home, there isn't much you can do to get from the middle of the ocean to where you need to be.

Keep on hatin bewag. I've put you on IGNORE. I can't see your past, present, or future posts....

  19. Just a few years ago it was nearly impossible to connect at all. No one really HAS to connect but times have changed and people expect to be able to connect. I prefer the old way of unplugging. I like to not be in contact on vacation!

Absolutely!!! I remember those days; my first cruise was in 1978....

It was very difficult for my brother to contact us, in 1990, to let my mother know that her sister had passed away. Things are much easier now.

    To each his/her own....

  20. He already let me know that you can have it but its up to you.

    YES, please....

My email address is in my signature; simply expand it to view.

Let me know what I need to do.

THANKS, germanboy. Please send me an email with a list of things you collect. I'll bet we have things in common....
