  1. Cheryl, I don't have to go in (although I have) to see that there is no one in there whenever I have passed by. It is indeed dark. There are no windows. This is on the Summit. However, if you enjoy it...good for you. Not my cup of tea and I don't feel I'm missing anything. This is the reason I don't travel in suites. I don't need or want the perks that come with it. In fact some of them make me very uncomfortable. So I stand by my description and comments and I see no reason to defend them. To each their own.

Your word choice is very interesting. ...holding court? You should not assume that everyone would travel suite class if they could. In fact, I know very wealthy individuals that loathe drawing attention to themselves and would never flaunt their wealth. Class and wealth are often mistaken for one another.

Wealth has nothing to do with my cabin choices. You are obviously confused. I love Luminae and MC; if I have to book a suite to access them, so be it. As ong as I don't ask YOU to help me pay my fare, you are not entitled to comment on my cabin choices....

I'll leave it at that.... I'm in no mood to debate you tonight.

And while there may not be any windows in MC on the Summit, there IS a door to the outside.

Next time you're on Summit you should ask the concierge to give you a tour..

    Enjoy your evening....

  2. On the Summit there is a roof top terrace that shows movies outdoors. Movies are not typically shown indoors. There is NO Lawn Club on the Summit.

Summit only has two specialty restaurants. Qsine and Tuscan Grill (and Sushi on 5 which is an a la carte restaurant).

The info above regarding the "off limits" venues are correct. On Summit (and I sail ever year on this ship), I have never seen anyone in there. It's kind of in a dark hovel by the photographer's gallery. Not very inviting so you won't feel you are missing anything.

I , too, will be spending plenty time in the HOVEL, with 10 of my friends.

That is, of course, when we're NOT holding court on the aft 4 cabins on Deck 6. This includes both PH suites and the adjoining S1 cabins.

I personally love the hovel. I don't find it dark and foreboding at all. And I'm sure that once you book a suite, you can find out dor yourself, instead of merely speculating....

  3. I'm so glad I got to do landings on the Antarctic peninsula in 1999 and again in 2000, on Orient Lines' Marco Polo.

    In one word: AWESOME!!!

    In another word: EXPENSIVE!!!!

My mother, who was 78 at the time, made ALL of the landings. She was such a trooper (RIP, Mom....)

I think that there are still a few ships making the journey to continent #7.

  4. Would you be willing to share an example of this word document? Love the idea!

Sure, if you promise not to post it on CC. It IS a bunch of my personal preferences; some might be humorous.

Expand my signature (below) to see my email address. Be sure to includevyour CC screen name in your email.

  5. A week before I leave home i begin having an Emergen-C drink each day, followed by an Airborne gummy.

Each night I swab my nose with Zicam.

I wash my eyeballs with Collyriumevery day; sometimes twice a day.

While on the cruise I do the same. If I go to the buffet, I bring along an individually packaged Germ-X wipe to clean the table. And I never let my eating utensils touch the table.

I never travel without Immodium; and I try to drink a gallon of water each day ( at home and away.)

Feel free to copy and or dismiss as you see fit. What works for me may not work fir you....

  6. HA!

In October, we sent out 2 bags of laundry, from the PH.

    The butler picked it up.

He didn't tell us when it came back; I found it....

Every single piece had been pressed!

Every single piece was on its' own hanger! Underwear, my ratty pajamas I love to bring; socks too!!

It took almost an hour to get everything off those hangers.... I have never laughed so hard....

That was Singh, the Head Butler on Infinity. He was sooooii wonderful, as wvidenced by his hard work getting the 59th anniversary vow renewal ceremony and reception I hosted for close friends.

It was initially set up on the veranda; but rain forced everything insude. Furniture was rearranged in less than an hour; and the reception table was relocated to the foyer. After the receotion, the cabin was returned to its' original state in kess than an hour!!!

I hope I tipped him well....

  7. That's odd that the same butler would service both PH suites. In my experience each suite had different butlers.

As a matter of fact, on our Summit cruise last August the butler that was suppose to take care of my suite 6147 was requested by the guests in 6148 because he took care of them a month prior.

Chip didn't take care of both of us, we were assigned another butler, Judas, who was wonderful btw.

    Yes, that's correct.

I've had Judas before; and agree that he was awesome....

  8. As I'm preparing for a cruise I make a list of things I might want or need: certain pillows, cappuccino in the morning, champagne ice bucket, extra blanket, etc.

Then, before leaving home, I create a word document that I give him once I embark.

I always see my butlers in the corridors; we talk several times a day.

They cannot read your mind. Tell them what you need or want....

  9. If you're talking about a Sky or Celebrity Suite, do the b2b.

If you're talking about a RS or a PH, do the suite.

I spend way more than 3 hours oer day in a PH suite, especially on M-class ships.

Before you disembark from a M-class ship, ask one of the aft butlers if you can see the cabin. It is AWESOME!!!

  10. Whenever I have a problem, and phone calls serve no useful purpose, I jump on Twitter and/or Facebook, and post a question, using my booking number in the general text.

Yesterday I posted a tweet on LLP's feed; within an hour I got a message that was then followed up by a long phone call.

    Much quicker....

  11. Yes Summit has been moored in Cozumel since Monday with propulsion problems however I spoke to a friend onboard and the Captain announced the problem is 80 percent fixed and they will set sail today for Ft Lauderdale arriving as scheduled. Hopefully the Saturday cruise will depart on time. Interesting this can't be found on Celebrity website or anywhere else as of yet.

You cannot be surprised that it isn't mentioned on the Celebrity website....

Bad news is NOT news over there at Dysfunctionality Central....

  12. So, here I am, livid at Celebrity and their dysfunctional site. I'm sailing on Summit on April 22, and just got my eDocs email yesterday.

    Yes, yesterday.

So I went to request my luggage tags, and here is the message I found:

    PRINT your luggage tags

WHAT? I'm in a PH and you want me to print luggage tags? Really????

I've been on the phone, on Twitter, and on FB trying to get assistance. Only problem is that tags take 7-10 days to make it to Texas. I'll have to WAIT.

    So here I sit, waiting....

But at least my sutuation has been eacalated to a higher authority. Woo Hoo!!!

  13. Hi Cheryl, How are you?? Still have your purple suitcases?? Which are your next cruises??

I am on a TA in October from Southampton to Miami on the Eclipse and in 2018 Australia/New Zealand to Vancouver...on the Solstice

    Hope you are well...

    Rose😊

    Hi Rose!!!

Taking the olive suitcases on the Summit repo next month. Celebrity's trying to tell me to PRINT my luggage tags; they must be crazy!!!! I'm in one of the PH suites; I'm not printing anything....

Enjoy your cruises. I've been to both places; loved ANZ immensely!!! I have a bookcalled "Overcoming Jet Lag" which was a great aid for that long flight. Email me if you want to borrow a copy. Expand my CC signature to see my email address; include your screen name so I'll know it's you....

  14. Not cheap though.

In October a liter of Bailey's was going for $134; not a misprint.

Thank goodness I was on a b2b. On the last night of the first cruise I sauntered into the liquor store onboard and purchased many bottles of booze. My sailing buds pre-ordered bottles, knowing that this would be the cheaper way.

The ones who said NO to my offer regretted that decision. As info, same bottle of Bailey's was $30.... But it didn't come with 6sodas and a can of nuts!
