  1. I have read about people who planned weddings at port. For example Bermuda. Then whoops the ship could not dock. Really was not a good idea.
  2. There is no entrance fee. Supposedly only people on the Hidden Gems tour are allowed to swim in the Grotto. If they are there they will tell you that. There may be or have been signage. There was an article in the Royal Gazette about it about five years ago. From my reading of reports from recent visitors people have been jumping in who are not on tours.
  3. I was wondering if they are totally skipping San Francisco or only not staying overnight.
  4. I don't think you or OP should be happy about it. I would be disappointed too. I just don't think they are lying about the reason or doing it to cut costs. Poor planning for sure.
  5. They are not on an overnight. They arrive at 10:00 and leave at 3:30. I kid you not. Not any time to do much. They probably need to stick around the Dockyard. So Maritime Museum, Fun Golf is open off season on Fridays, shopping at Clocktower Mall and perhaps lunch at Frog and Onion.
  6. It is only suspicious because you don't like the change. Yep. they are out to get you. Itinerary changes are unfortunate but none should book a cruise with the itinerary is set in stone. I don't know what kind of plans you made in San Francisco that would have financial commitments but that is on you. Don't make commitments you can't cancel.
  7. Not tipping was a good solution in your situation. Off course since he is off the meter he is still coming out ahead. I would report him but I would not tell him I was reporting him.
  8. OP thought there was discrimination and that it was illegal. They got no support. Not really any reason for them to return.
  9. This one was entertaining. I actually paid attention. Beach, Red, Cheese, Amalfi Coast
  10. Uber drivers have to comply with local law. There is an Uber option that provides car seats in some areas. Don't know about Miami. Taxis are exempt. You can ride in a taxi without a car seat.
  11. You can check the Island Tour Centre. Since it is the off season there may be limited availability. https://www.islandtourcentre.com At the Dockyard there is a maritime museum and Bermuda Fun Golf plus shops and restaurants You can take a ferry to either Hamilton or the NCL ferry to St.George's. St. George's is a World Heritage Site. Hamilton has shops and restaurants. You could do a taxi tour of the island. It is pretty easy to get around. We never do cruise line excursions in Bermuda. Take a look at the tourism website https://www.gotobermuda.com for ideas.
  12. I hope none of the cruise lines does dedicated pickleball courts. Sharing the limited sports activity space by having it during certain hours is fair. A
  13. Make sure they start the meter! You paid way too much for going from the port to Embassy Suites. Even $30 is a scam. It is a common scam in Fort Lauderdale because most visitors don’t know what the driver is doing. They have tried it on me. When I realized it I only gave him $20 at the end. Nothing he could do but accept that since he had not used the meter…..I prefer Uber in most cases than those taxi drivers.
  14. Yes, definitely a Norwegian Fjords cruise. They are calling it arctic circle because many Fjords itineraries don’t go that far north. That it does is a good thing in my opinion but you could do a shorter fjords itinerary that only does fjords.
  15. They are lined up in the transportation staging area between the two ship berths. As soon as it is filled it leaves and they start filling the next one. My experiences have been between 0 and 10 minutes. They shuttle back and forth to Horseshoe all day and it works the same for the return. They mostly take cash but there are a few drivers that take credit cards.
  16. There are minibus shuttles that charge $7 per person. Or you could get taxis. Taxis are $32 for 1-4 or $42 for 1-7 passengers. So you do the math. Taxis would be best unless you want to go in one vehicle. There are minibuses that hold up to 30. Don’t do the ship transfers unless you have onboard credit to burn.
  17. What kind of problems or sanctions? Did it three times with no issues but it was not my idea. The first time my travel agent booked a wife on my booking. She did not tell me what she was doing and I freaked out. when I saw the name on the booking. I was concerned but it worked out fine. I did not appreciate her doing that without explaining but she told me that in the real world it happens that a husband or wife etc. can't make the cruise. The other two times the travel agent suggested it so it was not done behind my back. No problems with those bookings. I would never have had the nerve to call up and do a direct booking that way. My current travel agent has turned out to be good at arm twisting. She seems to know who to talk to. Perhaps a more experienced travel agent has contacts or some are more aggressive than others.
  18. I have not done whale watching in Bermuda because I have never been there in April but I have had good luck booking excursions out of the Island Tour Centre. They have a bunch of whale watch excursions available. https://www.islandtourcentre.com/whale-watching/
  19. Cruise passengers don't need to fill out a Bermuda Arrival Card. That is only needed to be filled out by visitors arriving by air. The form itself mentions that. The website is badly designed in that regard as people should not have to open the form to find out that out.
  20. Are you booking direct or with a travel agency? My travel agent has sometimes been able to talk to a manager and get me booked as a solo over a cruise lines block. If that does not work we booked a second guest who was a no show.
  21. You should have closed toe water shoes for cave tubing. Teva makes both kind. If your Tevas are closed toe they will be good. Most people buy the open toes sandal Tevas which it sounds lie you might have.
  22. Depends on the excursion but I have been using Tevas as my water shoes when I needed water shoes for the last 30 years. YMMV

    Twizzy

There is plenty of parking and more importantly all the mini electric vehicle rentals busnesses have charging locations at the Dockyard.
  24. You can use more than one word in your title. In any case the distance from FLL to Port Everglades is small so an Uber XL will only be a few dollars more. I think a standard Uber will be fine but if you are concerned book the XL. I always take an Uber from FLL becuase the taxi fare can climb because of port congestion entereing the port. On the return I always take a taxi becuase they are lined up while the Ubers can't line up, they have to come from outside after you book them. Don't be obsessed with taxi versus Uber at FLL if going to Port Everglades. They are so close that using either is no big deal cost wise.
  25. LOL. They have now posted a third thread with a bad title asking the same question.
