  1. RCI has stopped there for the last 30 years and last decade so your advice would have been wrong. They will suspend operations for a while and then resume. Eventually there will be a new government. Has happened in the past. Also who would they divest to? RCI has a lease until 2050.
  2. Pretty much cash only but there are a couple of minibus shuttle operators (Titan) that take credit cards.
  3. I use WhatsApp or FaceTime for international calls.
  4. I don't recall that either. I also think if they were starting up again Cruise Critic would make an announcement.
  5. What does that have to do with smoking areas? Certainly you don't think people should be allowed to smoke everywhere because perfume is allowed?
  6. But what does that have to do with smoking areas? You might want to ask the paster to talk to the woman about the strong perfume. I had a coworker who used strong perfume to hide the oder from her smoking habit. You can smell the cigarette odor on smokers.
  7. Azamara and Celebrity were one combined loyalty program. So points earned on either were added. It was not a reciprocal match. As for Azamara and RCL I never paid attention because I was higher in Captains Club.
  8. I don’t have a bundle but a reason they do the bundles is for sports.
  9. I had Fios when I lived in Maryland and it was much better than cable which was Comcast. I dropped the telephone and TV. Streaming only and carried on with that when I moved here. Fios was $49 a month. No contract. If I wanted TV I could have streamed YouTube TV. Fiber here is $49 here too but I am paying $80 for a gigabyte connection. I also have to pay $10 a month for their modem here which I connect my own routers to. With Fios I didn’t have to connect to their modem,
  10. Grand Cayman is a tender port which was always a big negative to me. Got canceled many times, 50% but I see you are scheduled from 7 to 6. Never had 11 hours, was always a lot shorter. You have time rent a car and go to Rum Point. Something to consider.
  11. I switched to fiber because Spectrum would have congestion issues in the evening. Upload speeds are a lot faster but I don’t really need that. But the killer reason is that fiber costs less than cable internet, or at least it did. Cable might have had to reduce their price since fiber rolled out with a lower price. I have not checked as I am satisfied with fiber.
  12. I have gigabit fiber and the WiFi 6 router shows 940 MBPS over the ethernet but over WiFi download is 483 mbps and upload is 553 mbps. My laptop is WiFi 6 but it just won't get higher over WiFi. If I do a wired connection much faster but really I don't bother as I don't need it. If I had a desktop I would plug it in.
  13. They did it before, transitioned the programs. It was a disaster with both programs for me as I had to wait another sailing on each to move up but it worked for Celebrity and Royal. They could use the opportunity to push some passengers back again. I don't think it being a disaster would concern them much.
  14. The casinos are open while in port in Bermuda if the ship buys a license from the government. Cruises lines that call regularly like Celebrity buy the license. Your cruise to Bermuda where they were not open was likely before they instituted the licensing program.
  15. Celebrity serves a better lunch buffet at the regular stations on Labadee too than Royal. Royal usually is just hamburgers and hot dogs. Celebrity had those flat steaks they offer in the onboard buffet.
  16. Been there many times but only on Carnival owned brands, i.e. HAL and Princess. Carnival Corp financed the dock and port shops. It is not exclusive though. So if there is unbooked berths available other lines can dock there.
  17. One of the cruise lines I was on some of the bar servers would wait to run the tab until after the 3 miles. I don't know if they still do.
  18. If they get an offer for the ship they will sell her. Otherwise they will keep her a while longer. Does not matter about the recent work as it is minor. There are only three alternatives, sell, keep or the breakers and I don't think breakers is imminent.
  19. You can buy tokens or passes at the Visitor Information Centre with a credit card at the Dockyard. In Hamilton I don't know about the one in Hamilton or the Ferry terminal or bus terminal in Hamilton. They have announced digital fares are going to happen and it sounds like this year but no start date yet.
  20. And since almost everyone has a smartphone how is it detemined who is a vlogger unless the vloggers tell the cruise line? I think anyone has to be allowed to film and take photos but anyone vlogger or not who is disruptive in the way they do it can be asked to stop. One thing they could do is make a rule like they have at some sports stadiums. You can only use your smartphone to video. That limits disruptions as everyone has a smartphone so the vloggers would blend in. With a state of the art phone like for example the iPhone15 Pro Max which does excellent video and has ultra wide angle, regular and a 150mm tele lens the bloggers don't need anything better
  21. There seems to be a block. I continue to receive the regular Celebrity mailings but the Captains Club emails won't revive no matter what I try. The call centers people just give BS that they fixed it but nothing comes. In a couple of months I don't know what their criteria is for blocking the Captain Club and PUP emails is. It could be on purpose or bad programing. Probably bad IT but anythings possible.
  22. And to further expand, if Heidi isn't available, you can take what is called a Blue Flag taxi which is one that is specially licenced to give tours. This is the same classification that Heidi falls under. No, Heidi is not the same as a Blue Flag taxi. She probably has some kind of license from the government for tours as Bermuda seems regulate everything. Maybe it is a minibus tour license. Her vehicle is larger than a taxi. Taxis hold a max of 7. Her vehicle can an hold I think 14 but she takes a maximum of ten leaving empty rows. So that’s why I was thinking of her for the mobility scooter if she was available. If it is the right kind of mobility scooter, designed for travel that can be disassembled then possibly some blue flag taxis could handle it.
  23. I mentioned in some of the closed threads that Barbecue was not a gang leader in the way we might be visualizing. His intention seems to be to seize state power. His forces are still thugs but they have a political goal. To accomplish what he says would need support of from the Haitian people. I really have not seen evidence they have such support.
