  1. The ones they have not been calling at with them Grand Cayman comes to mind right off the bat. The largest ships that they have that can do Bermuda are Quantum class.
  2. The Mah Jhong games can get pretty loud.....😀
  3. And that ferry can be unpleasant. It is nicknamed the vomit comet.
  4. I undertand that. I am a beach loving person myself and in the Caribbean we do beaches at the ports.
  5. If you follow a topic then you will be notified. I also use the content I posted in stream as default so any posts on this topic will put it on my first page.
  6. My reply was more about older people where the family has left the nest or are childless. Royal Caribbean wants families to go on the mega ships as there is more opportunity to suck revenue from them on those ships. There are also fewer ports as the ship is the destination so more revenue opportunity. That is not to say families can’t have a great time on smaller or small ships.
  7. We also did it from Cancun and were able to climb the pyramid. Since then a super highway has been built so it might take less time by bus. A few years ago on another land vacation we did Coba which I have seen on the Royal excursion list. You can still climb the large pyramid there Nohoch Mul.
  8. There used to be excursions there on some cruise lines that flew there on small planes. There were a couple of crashes and those pretty much were discontinued. There possibly are private tours that fly there from Progresso.
  9. Nothing suggests that. They asked if Celebrity is building smaller ships.
  10. Their larger ships which they are still building new ships are about the size of Voyager Class at about 130,000 tons. It is expected that they will share the Discovery Class builds. They have smaller ships the same size and age as Radiance Class. Matter of fact those share the same hull as Celebrity Millennium Class. Celebrity also has a later class than Millennium , Solstice Class about 120,000 tons which are my favorite Celebrity ships. Silversea is expensive and an option for me but I have never booked. I prefer non RCG ships in that category. One thing about more expensive cruise lines is that on many the perks you are fighting for in the loyalty program are included.
  11. I am Diamond Plus. The loyalty program is not worth it as a reason to book more Royal Caribbean cruises. I only book them now because of family and friends.
  12. Book a land vacation to the Yucatan to see it. That is the best way. That is what I did. From a cruise you would have so little time there Progresso or Cozumel.
  13. The class will be shared with Celebrity. I don’t think they will be small enough to visit more unique places. Smaller not small. Royal will be able to continue to go to ports they go to now that can’t take the big ships.
  14. They should probably move on to cruise lines that are geared to older people and have smaller ships. As an older person I primarily book those lines.
  15. They just ordered a fourth Icon Class ship. What growing chorus of people? The super size ships seem pretty popular with the Royal crowd. They will build a smaller class eventually but they don’t seem to have made it a priority. They keep ordering the super size ships.
  16. Has Princess stopped including them in their new builds?
  17. The NCL Dawn used to have them. I sailed on her many years ago. They probably removed them.
  18. You have been lucky. The carry ons don't get scrutinized as much as checked bags. They are looking for firearms in carry ons. maybe booze. The cabin stewards are probably not going to rat you out as they want good ratings and tips.
  19. If the R ships are phased out they can still go to Bermuda. The newer ships can use the Royal Naval Dockyard. Vista is scheduled for the Dockyard not Hamilton or St. George on her itinerary so they did not dupe anyone.
  20. I did a private tour the Acropolis. The main problem there is you don’t want to arrive the same time as a bunch of cruise line buses. The private tour driver timed our arrival so the lines were short. There is a new museum near the city center which I took the bus to. Very good museum. The statue is in a main square in the center. I have been to Athens a bunch of times, even overnighted and did private tours or took the bus. Never a cruise line transfer or excursion there. I don’t take cruise line excursions as a general rule but I have done those cruise line transfers in some ports if they have enough time at the site.
  21. Yes, I meant 2007. I did do Zenith that in that year and previous years. I was booked on Zenith again for 2008, Hamilton and St. George but they transferred to the ship. Instead they put us on Azamara Journey which was the first R ship I cruised on which did Hamilton and St. George.
  22. No it’s not walkable to the city center. The buses are about 5 euros each way. I would guess the metro is less. Could likely find a private tour for less than $69. We did a private taxi tour out of a roll call but it was years ago. OP should check the port of call board for Athens. Also their cruise critic roll call might have some shared private tours.
  23. I think anomalies like that may happen when the moderators delete posts in a thread or combine posts from another thread.
  24. I took an express bus from the port to the city center. About 30 minutes. There are also non express buses. The bus stop was easy to find at the port. The caveat is that you have to remember where to catch the return bus in the square. You can also take the Metro. I took the bus because I wanted to see stuff on the ride.
