  1. Apparently. Which does not mean that Royal Caribbean will immediately or ever book them again. I expect they will at some point. If Blue Lagoon is taking bookings then it can be done DIY. We did it on our own once as a last minute decision. We had to take a taxi to Paradise Island to pick up their boat. Their boat did drop us off back by the cruise docks at the end. You could take any of their boats back. As far as cost it was a wash since the booking price a little less but with the taxi cost the total cost was similar. Makes the most convienient sense to book through the cruise line if available.
  2. Other cruise lines are building smaller ships. I think Royal Caribbean has deliberately placed itself as the cruise line of super sized ships and made that their niche to always have the largest cruise ship. For smaller ships they can have them in the Celebrity fleet.
  3. Celebrity definitely did supply the library. There were lots of hard cover books. They restocked them too with recent editions. As a reader I would head to the library on embark day to see what was available. I often discovered new authors to try at the ship libraries. Then they stopped. A non reader probably would not notice or care about the change. I also had and still have an e reader but the ship library was a good place for discovery. Definitely a deliberate cutback.
  4. I will always try to book direct but I am not bull headed about it. Sorry 😀 Sometimes it does make sense to do a ship arranged excursion or even something like Viator. A small local operator might not be able to have a booking engine or take credit cards. Usually those request cash but some do use the middleman only.
  5. I started cruising Celebrity in 1996 and they did paper bills for years. The bill would be put on my cabin door very early overnight am on debarkation day . I would go to Guest Relations a few times before the end of a cruise and get a paper copy.
  6. Millenium class and Radiance class were built on the same hull design. I don't think any other X class can sail from Tampa. Vision class was before RCG bought Celebrity and the pre takeover ships are gone. If they build a new class that can do Tampa they could use the same hull design.
  7. They send them out in batches so they don't crash their servers. I have not got the email yet but expect to.
  8. Whatever works. I have never got charged for minibar items. Mistaken charges I have recieved were drinks at a lounge I never ordered. (not on Celebrity, happened a few times on Princess) I alway check my folio several times on any cruise because the easiest time to correct is while onboard. Also to make sure OBC credits were on my account. Had to have my travel agent take care of that once with Princess.
  9. They still have the program on the website so I think we could expect something. One time they had a minimal holiday give away otf 10 PUPS didnt they?
  10. I did mine in downtown DC at their office as at the time I lived in suburban Maryland. Very convenient. Took the Metro.
  11. If you are a US citizen you have to have a valid Passport Book for Global Entry. You have to take the book to the interview. You may be confusing Global Entry with TSA PreCheck.
  12. I have them do that but I noticed they just throw the stuff in a bag and keep them under the bed or in the closet or somewhere. LOL. I don't think the cabin steward does the billing. Some other crew member checks the fridges.
  13. You have to have a passport for Global Entry. I think the poster is confused. You can't get Global Entry at Office Depot. The first time you get it requires and interview with a CBP agent. They scan your fingerprints. The cards are mailed if you are apporved. A renewal might require an interview.
  14. I don't use them because they are a middleman. Neither the cruise line or Viator operate the tours they sell so you can find the tour operator online. I book direct with the tour operator. Price can be even better thhat way and the tour operators like that. Often as shortcut I cut and paste the description from the cruise line or Viator and google and usually find the actual tour operator.
  15. But that was for something other than the usual. When I moved to Texas my appointment to get a Texas license was scheduled 3 months after I made it online but once I got to the DMV it was 15 minutes to see the clerk, 15 minutes to exchange my old license, pass on contributing to a bunch of optional funds, 🙃 , show documents and. Eye test and out. Odd to me that four or five 20 year olds drove to the DMV without their glasses. They let them drive home to get their glasses 🙄 and bring back to finish so I assume they would have done the same if I was missing a document. Hard to miss a document though as they have a checklist on their website that you can run through like a test which is pretty thorough. They should have had bring glasses on the checklist I guess.😛
  16. They will build smaller ships someday but they probably won’t be small. I would expect smaller to be super quantum class size.
  17. Cruises out of Baltimore are cheap too. Is Royal going to build ships for a couple of fringe markets? Royal seems to be the cruise line of gargantuan ships. I think Royal might keep the ships doing Tampa and Baltimore for as long as they are seaworthy but new ships that can sail into and out of those ports, hmm.
  18. That’s right Ken ,it will happen and to add shipping needs to evolve into a carbon neutral industry. Shipping evolving into a carbon neutral industry won’t happen in a long time if ever….whatever that means.
  19. Some states like NJ allow a choice. Pretty shortsighted for people to renew their license and not get a Real ID license but some states have Real ID as optional.
  20. Real ID is not required for airline travel. Maybe someday but I would not bet on it.
  21. In my opinion they have telegraphed the possibility that sometime in the future the Crown Lounge will be for Diamond Plus and Pinnacle. They are already excluding Diamonds at certain times on some cruises.
  22. The drinks are a good benefit for me as I drink very little. Saves me $40 a cruise. Nice but I would not call it wonderful. It seems to me if your for real that you are inflating the worth of Diamond status.
  23. To me a bucket list is destinations and experiences. The Diamond Lounge is a pretty low goal. It is just a room with tables. The lounge varies by class of ship. At certain times they served some cheap snacks. The coffee machine dispenses some milk espresso drinks but there is no barista, They are okay but that is it.
  24. Depends on ones definition of small ships. I would call Radiance class a smaller ship not a small ship.
