  1. Agreed Boatharbour... there was a slight cover of soot at times. A few pool towels covering the loungers solved the issue, and the cabin steward ensured all was spick and span!
  2. Sailed in the middle on Deck 7 around 6 weeks ago...only noise that came from below in Eden was quite "distant" and over by around 10.45. Suppose it depends what time you turn in whether the noise will effect your sleep! We've booked the same cabin for a B2B as it was no issue for us at all! (and believe you me, we are of an age where we need our beauty sleep 😉
  3. As an Aussie I would comment that "Emerald" is far better known in Australia, mainly thanks to TV travel shows such as "Getaway" etc. and esp. since the arrival of their small luxury ocean ships.
  4. Often thru the course of the sailing they offer a special discount, something akin to "all you can fit in the bag for X$'s". Just off a 12 night sailing in OZ on Edge and it never appeared, so not sure if they have done away with this as well?
  5. Just done a Sunset Veranda on Edge, and have sailed in the largest bump out balconies 3 times now on Eclipse & Solstice. Forgetting about the differences in the classes, think I prefer the sunset slightly. No passing traffic, minimal noise, and the wake is very hypnotic and calming. Whichever you finally end up with will be great either way benefits!
  6. Deck #: 7/315 EDGE Feb 2024 Cabin Category: Sunset Veranda Cabin Location: Aft. Middle Bed Position: By wardrobe Balcony Type: Sunset Veranda Balcony/Window Size: Deep and wide with 2 loungers 2 chairs and small table. Balcony/Window View/Obstruction: Right above the middle of Eden. Balcony Overhang?: no. Magic Carpet Issues?: No Noise Issues?: Very quiet. Wind Issues?: No Connecting Cabin? Not internal, outside to left only. Suite Details: N/A Advantages/Problems/Comments: PROS: Fantastic location with no "passing traffic". Long walk to elevator/stairs so no guilt about that extra cannoli in Tuscan for sweets;) Wake view gives a calming visual, and white noise. Minimal noise heard from Eden below, and that's VERY minimal, at least on our cruise as all entertainment finished at 11.15 pm in Eden. CONS: Slight soot on balcony...pool towels used to cover loungers and chairs. Just check in the morning before resting arms on the railing. Would You Book It Again?: Already have:) 🙂
  7. If you do bring soda onboard are you permitted to take it to drink in the dining room/s without charge?
  8. We'll be sailing in just under 3 weeks so I'll let you know the extent (if any) noise from Deck 7 Sunset.
  9. Can you bring your own mineral water? If so, how many bottles, or no restriction? Can you take a bottle to the restaurant for dinner?
  10. I wonder what is happening in Eden late at night to cause a noise? Didn't think that's where the nightclub is located.
  11. Sailing in 3 weeks in #7315 (EDGE). From the above, it seems like noise will be ever present...anyone care to reassure me that I selected the right cabin almost 18 mths ago? 🤔
  12. The confusion continues (for me). Have a cruise on Edge in a few months and needed to call Celebrity for another reason. The consultant asked me if I wished to make dining bookings with him whilst on the call. I thought that was very efficient so he started. We like to dine 7-7.30pm and have never had an issue getting a table for 2 on the S class cruises we've sailed. Well, to my amazement, the earliest he could secure a booking was 8.30 pm...earliest!!! We went thru the availability in the 4 dining rooms, and out of fear that I would miss out and have to dine even later (or earlier @ 5.30pm!) locked in that time slot. He did mention that once final payment was required there may be more suitable times come open as people often dropped out of the cruise. Now I read various different scenarios above, so fingers crossed we can book at our prefered time when on board.
  13. Off on a short cruise that is now even a bit shorter! Grand Princess has elevated NORO cases and hence will do a deep clean on arrival in Melbourne this Saturday. Instead of departing at 5pm, communication states that all must be on board by 7 pm, no mention of sailaway time. Arrival at the pier cannot be earlier than 3.30 pm as there will be a deep clean of the terminal also. Never been on a ship that has undergone a "deep clean". Does that involve all staterooms as well?
  14. Thanks Franski...appreciate your details to assist. 🙂
  15. FANTASTIC information...many thanks indeed! 👍
  16. First time river cruisers(to be) after about 15 ocean trips. Naturally we are very nervous about the differences, and we know there will be many! We have decided Emerald is the best fit for our trip after considering so many options. I've tried to read as much as possible, and watch videos of various reviews to get some realistic expectations. I'm hoping to read here as well from those that have sailed on Emerald. I think "Star" is the vessel for our journey which is Budapest to Munich, mid Aug 2024. A few questions if I can please: Understand drinks outside mealtimes are additional cost. Does anyone have a "menu" of drinks and associated prices? Is there a "better" side for cabins for scenic purposes sailing the journey we are taking? The Active program is one that enticed us to select the line, so how "active" are the excursions? Does the daily program include pool exercises, or anything else that gets the blood pumping of a morning(or whenever) What would be the best area to have a cabin, (looking at Panorama Balcony class) in relation to noise/ Many thanks and open to ANY other information you may care to share regarding this cruise line. Lynn
  17. duck-shove verb INFORMAL•AUSTRALIAN past tense: duck-shoved; past participle: duck-shoved avoid or evade (a responsibility or issue).
  18. We also had almost a 360 degree difference in our Eclipse transpacific when we were isolated for 12 days with COVID. The COVID concierge was as good as useless. When we rang him he told us that he was unable to do anything to ensure our room service was up to scratch. He told us that we had to speak to our stateroom attendant if we needed anything. Duck shoved all the way!!! Now we are in dispute with them regarding our refund. They have NO record that we were in iso, despite us having all the necessary paperwork. We have to fight to get our own money back, including waiting on hold for over 1 hr (from Australia) and scan all our relevant paperwork to them.
  19. If there is no way you can extend to a balcony, take plenty of reading material, things to keep you occupied and anything that will keep you sane. You can take every precaution known to man and still get COVID...it happened to us, and at least we had a BIG balcony but it was still terrible being stuck in a small space for 10 days! Have you had COVID already?
  20. Folks, don't just call Princess out about the way they handle COVID pax. We have not long returned from Celebrity Eclipse Transpacific, in iso for 10 days! Cold food, missing crockery and cutlery, incorrect meals, and the list goes on and on. We are now in dispute about even being in iso, they have NO record, so the onus is on us to prove we were. Lucky we have kept all correspondence!
  21. Surely I'm not the only one to get this type of call???
  22. Y'day, I received a call from the "Post Care Team" asking about my health after testing positive to COVID on Eclipse on the Transpacific last month. My husband and I were locked down for 12 days in total. Strangely, the person never asked about how he was doing, and made no comment when I said that I was still not back to normal at all! Not sure why they called? Has anyone else had this type of call?
  23. Have been notified by a pax currently on Eclipse that due to an increase in cases of COVID onboard that the Captain has mandated that masks are required (not just requested) in the theatre and casino. Possibly heard about the % of pax on Majestic Princess debarking with positive COVID tests.
  24. How to make an international call from Australia. Enter the exit code. The Australian exit code is 0011 or you could use + on a mobile. To dial +, press and hold 0 on your phone's keypad. Enter the country code. Check out the country codes on our international call rates support page. Enter the phone number. Enter the phone number including the area code. If the area code or number begins with '0', drop the ‘0’ when you dial. Mission complete...thanks again for your assistance! 👏
