  1. Myself and three BFF’s were looking for a table at the platinum diamond cocktail party and three ladies sitting in a large half- moon booth said we could join them. We had the best time chatting with these ladies. We ended up meeting up with them on a few other nights to have a glass of wine, dance a little and just chat.

  2. I'm sorry for your disappointment but I need to take issue with your comment about San Juan being a throwaway port. It is the single most interesting port in the Caribbean for us, one we are happy to return to time after time. By comparison, we have never actually found anything worth doing on St. Thomas. Every time we've arrived there we quickly found our way to a ferry to a nearby island where we enjoyed our day.

Of course, it just goes to show that within the passengers there will be people who have different preferences from us and so who will be pleased by things we are displeased about and will be displeased about things with which we are pleased.

I hope the rest of your cruise is enjoyable despite the circumstances. These things happen regularly with all the cruise lines and so we have come to take such circumstances in stride, appreciative of whatever consideration the cruise line gives but fully recognizing that they all can and all respond to situations like this all the time.

My thoughts exactly. We love San Juan and prefer that over St. Thomas anytime.

  3. Sorry to hear about this issue, I do congratulate you on the Havana Cabins. I could not get one for my sailing, but I will sometime in the future.

As for your boarding time, you can all join your Aunt at the later time without issue. For Dining my suggestion would be to see the Maitre D as soon as you can and explain what happened with the upgrade. He/she will do what they can to accommodate your group. If not resolved the first evening, you could always eat at the Lido Buffet. Hopefully you’ll be contacted and notified that your preferred dining is available by day two.

I hope you get it resolved and enjoy your cruise.

  4. If you list it on the special occasions section on your booking, you may receive a small individual cake at the MDR and singing by the wait staff. In addition, you may receive a coupon in your room for a free meal in a specialty restaurant (jijis, cucina) or a free photo. This is what we have received in the past.

We have ordered a small cake from the fun shops, but as others posters have stated it was wasted because it’s just too much.

  5. In all my cruises I have never had anything go missing from the safe or the room for that matter. As for the employee’s ability to open the safe... how else would one get in? I would get just like in a hotel there are vetted employees that hold the special card to get into the safe.

Tipping is automatic for me and makes no difference if included in the fair. The service industry is grueling and even the amount we pay in cruise tips is not enough for what these workers put up with.

I really never thought that Carnival would Skim off the top. Just don’t make business sense to me. Just my humble opinion.

    Happy cruising.

  6. We will be going on our first cruise on Carnival Magic in June. We will need to stay at a hotel the night before sailing. I see there are so many options for parking. Different cruise and park private companies, hotels that offer parking and parking directly at the port. Would love some advice on which would be our best option. Any help is greatly appreciated :)

We have parked at the port which is more costly, but most convenient. We have also used Park And Cruise, less expensive, friendly organized folks. I guess it depends on your budget and whether you want to hit the road ASAP after debarkation. Enjoy your cruise.

  7. Is it really the same steak? I was always under the impression that the steaks in the MDR (even then ones you pay extra for) are not the same as the ones in the steakhouse. If I'm wrong, that's a great tip!

I have had many steakhouse steaks and one MDR steak that was terrible. Nothing like the steak cooked in the steakhouse. My DH has one too and he did not even finish it. Hopefully it was just a fluke.

  8. Reading their snail mail booklets/offers the casino sends through regular mail, it says on the bottom,,

if you get '7500' pts., you qualify for a premier cruise,,

if you get '7500' pts. on a premier cruise, you qualify for fall and spring ultra cruises.

Elites are a different animal, there is nothing on how many pts. needed to get one of those!

We are still waiting, after a year of getting 7500 pts plus on multiple premier cruises, for that elusive ultra cruise, the casino dept. says we're qualified for!

So far the recent Premier offerings of casino cash and a cruise are really not very good!:(

We received a couple bounce backs that were good and we've used both of them.;)

Looking forward to some stories from those who've received elite's after your cruises!

We have had many invites to the Premiere Cruises but have never received an Ultra invite. I’ll report back as to what it all entails. Happy Cruising!!!

  9. We have a Havana Premium Aft Vista (or whatever it's called- the wrap around balcony big enough to throw a party on) coming out of NYC. I'd love to do sail away from our balcony (typically, we're in a hot tub at that time anyway). Will an aft view still be decent? Or would you still go up on deck to do sail away?

I'll be leaving out of the Anthem in December so not my last chance to do a sail away, but December is also going to be dark much earlier and let's face it, colder. Will likely be in a solarium hot tub for sure for that one.

We had a regular aft balcony when we sailed out of NY in October and the skyline and Statue of Liberty were an awesome sight.

  10. My very first cruise was with Carnival. My DH and I were hooked on day one.

We love the whole atmosphere of the ship. The food options, the entertainment, the friendliest staff.

People always say “another cruise” my answer is always the same. For me it’s the most economical way to vacation. Where can you get your hotel, all of your meals and entertainment for the price you pay on Carnival.

I’m not looking for 5 star anything. Carnival has changed some since I started cruising, but not enough to make me go elsewhere.

79 days and counting. I’ll be on the new Horizon!!!
