  1. I am not sure about Canadians doing it right. It took us well over 30 minutes to get through customs in Vancouver when arriving or going via train. You have to show up by 5:30 am for a 7:15 train from Vancouver and Portland. My favorite customs was earlier this year in SF from Mexico cruise. Facial recognition just walked right through no need to show passport at all
  2. If you went from US port to Canadian port you would have to go through Canadian customs at some point. On Alaskan cruises from Vancouver you go through US customs in Vancouver. Is this something similar ?
  3. We had booked but changed it for a b2b Boston-Quebec-Boston in 2025. That gives us 2 + days using the ship as a hotel in Quebec
  4. The one issue with the Coral is that there are not any aft suites which we love. That being said we do love the size of the ship and use it for certain itineraries like Panama Canal through the old locks
  5. The issue with these ship is that there really aren’t any other venues for casual dining unless they want to do pop up lunches as Alfredo’s in Sabatini’s which I have seen on the Coral or pop ups in the buffet area
  6. Another stage for Alaskan cruises is that the passengers are “the newly wed and the nearly dead”
  7. On the last 5 cruises there was not any reason for a reservation since you could have shot a cannon through the Gastropub and not hit anyone until the last night of each cruise
  8. Although they know when the passengers need to be back does not mean things can’t happen. I was on a ships excursion once that was well over an hour late due and the ship did wait. I believe that the ship would not have waited if it was an independent excursion
  9. On Grand class ships I have never seen the Gastropub open for lunch at all only dinner and they do not take reservations
  10. The IC also never seems to have salsa to go with their breakfast burritos
  11. Be aware they pack people on that excursion like sardines
  12. Northbound ships generally port in Whittier around 1am and the leave southbound at 8:00 pm to Ancona people coming off of land tours
  13. After 35 years and 60 cruises I have heard it all and almost none of them have to do with service. Yes I have missed ports, had mold in cabins etc and accepted discounts but never lowered my tops since none of them are really faults of crew members
  14. In some ports you may actually be detained. There are good and drug dogs in many ports
  15. This kind of thing can happen on any cruise on any line and is not limited to Alaska or Princess. I flew to England for a Trans Atlantic to visit art museums in La Havre and Bilbao. Never got to those ports Maybe someday I will get to go back. In the meantime I continue to travel to other ports in different parts of the world.
  16. And people on this cruise also got use of a floating hotel with all meals included for much less than they could ever do on land
  17. Yes no MDR lunch on port days
  18. It enough compensation ? This is way more than we got when we were stuck in England for 3 days, missed 3 ports and ended up with 8 consecutive sea days. I would be very happy with this compensation
  19. All of the glacier venues have limits on the amount of ships allowed at one time it is not just a decision made by the captain
  20. Having seen the new lunch menu for lunch for 11 sea days on our last cruise. Basically the same menu each day with 3 changes per day. Much preferred the old menus but it is still better than the buffet Was glad to see the pub lunch in the MDR twice in 2 weeks
  21. These limits are usually set by the tour operator not the cruise line. I have also seen weight limits on some tour and seen people weighed at the tour site and they had to sit while others took the tour and they did not get their money back
  22. It is a button on your stateroom phone
  23. Didn’t you know the steak house was just a cordoned off portion of the buffet with tablecloths ? That ship has never had a stand alone steak house
  24. The people I see at guest services have complaints about waiting 10 minutes for a table in the MDR when they had a reservation or complaining about how an order wasn’t delivered from the app. I don’t consider those as major or even have anything to do with service
