  1. Was this a fare you got during the sale Ombud? In the end I think April is correct since the sale was a unusual air fare sale but check it out. I have frequently been able to refare and keep exact same air price but it was never part of a sale long gone. Mike

  2. I use them on occasion but they are contacted through a different telephone #

Which I don’t have. You usually reach them by name or extension. I’m sure the regular Princess # would give it to you or transfer. The first question they ask is if you are working with TA which I don’t. If you do they say they can’t help you. Mike

  3. The airfares refreshes (changes on their computer screens) every 20 minutes.

The airlines make the changes very frequently not Princess so if you cancel you can’t get a fare from weeks or months ago back plus the price of a sale long gone if I understand you correctly. I was almost going to do what I think you want to do and then recalled it is not possible. This is in regard to post 14 with which I agree. Mike

  4. I suddenly recalled the surprise upgrade I received about 10 years ago and knew nothing about until I arrived at room. I was booked solo in a mini suite. The woman agent I checked in with said nothing but upgraded me apparently on the spot to a full Suite. Needless to say I wasn’t upset. Mike

  5. I was on for 49 day Maiden Voyage last year from Rome-Shanghai through the Suez and in a variety of Seas: Indian Ocean, North and South China Seas and don’t remember any movement at all. But I am not sensitive to this at all but I remember no comments from friends or others at all. I often have to ask people if we are underway. Mike

  6. When everyone has priority boarding no one does. It seems to currently apply to elite and platinum, full suite, club class etc. We are all in the same line. That is what I meant above about little attention paid to ticket. Mike

  7. I noticed they barely look until you get to the agent. With almost a thousand elite on my last cruise I noticed hardly anyone in the no priority line but then I noticed they were funneling elite to ten different agents and non priority to one agent. Glad I got in the right line. You are directed to a different waiting room with coffee and snacks but as soon as I got there we started to board. We had been handed a card about 1pm room ready but I went direct and all were ready at noon. At least the elite balcony since I noticed almost all in this category were in this particular corridor. 8. Same with me. No surcharge for fuel even when it was mentioned and oil was at all time high....this is really a guess $140??? Observe how strong the US$ is due to a variety of factors from English speaking countries and the eurozone. We came up with our own list and the price of oil and oversupply was about #6. 9. I should mention one of the recent emails I received was from a Princess Customer Service agent. It had a different telephone #, name, and extension but if I was working with a TA she could not help. I gave it a try but she had left the company and I got ahold of another. I had 5 cruises reserved and asked her to go through them all after she made sure again I had not used a TA...she went through them all and was able to save me about $3500 Sadly I didn’t keep the name or #. I am pretty savvy after many cruises and was surprised. Mike

  10. Just a PS to the above in some countries it is considered very rude to ask what they do for a living. As US it’s one of the first things that comes up in a conversation with strangers....the worst question in some countries. I’ve lived overseas and know this firsthand. Mike

  11. Again my opinion is fare payed is so complex. There is no secret. It depends on your country, the sale on, if you make a reservation and don’t think about it again, if you check pricing daily (I was reading a thread a few months ago where the individual did), if deposit is refundable, etc. My own personal feeling is that many people without regard to age don’t want to reveal they are in inexpensive interior or window. I notice they don’t mind talking if they are booked in a Suite. As a matter of fact that is the first thing they say. Some have no problem of discussing any of this. I don’t. I always get a balcony but rarely use it except to read briefly I get it for the natural light. I always do my own reservations without a TA and have done over 35cruises. Sometimes I ask more experienced cruisers a question or two about a technique and I have never run across refusal to answer. But some people may regard a direct question as “and how much money do you make”? Mike

  12. We book suites and I find we spend too much time there. My husband would stay there all day if I did not push him to get out and about. We really could sit on our balcony all day and watch the wake. It is so relaxing for us. When we get up, we order coffee and have a few cups on the balcony. We love to have lunch on the balcony and also have friends over for pre dinner cocktail and snacks. We also love to watch movies - prefer that over MUTS. The older we get, the faster the day goes by. We love to do nothing!! We also enjoy having a few drinks before dinner at Crooners. It also depends on the itinerary.

That is why I avoid them. You don’t want to leave and experience the ship and others. Mike
