  1. Hate to say it but elite is so common now ——some of being elite is you are not. I just got off the Royal where there close to a thousand of us elite. The Captain said that he recalled several years ago having drinks around a table with 20-25. Not too easy with a thousand.

  2. I think it is not so much a secret but as some have already patiently explained a very complex matter beginning with the English speaking country you are from. The different markets have entirely different pricing and sales at different times and it only gets more completed from there. I once read if you did a survey on the plane you were on you would find people flying for free, for $100 and even $1500 They would all be sitting in the same kind of seat you are without taking different cabins into account

  3. Definitely if the ship is on time. Just got off a ship in NYC but disembarkation was about an hour late unless you carried your own luggage...a problem with off loading the luggage and the porters of some kind. I lived in Rome a number of years and the trip to Leonardo is around an hour max unless extreme traffic congestion or road work of some kind...actually usually less than an hour. I just noticed you said Sunday. If in July or August beach traffic but not that early in the

    Morning

  4. In general It had been fairly normal but no where as fast as new high speed. I tend to use it at times it is not being used by everyone else, late at night or mid afternoon or on port day I use for free in terminal or buy an a coffee at a nearby cafe. The entire NYT downloads in about a minute or two if done at those times or places. Mike

  5. I took the 49 maiden voyage of the Majestic. The TV was normal. Something must have been done in China after we left it in Shanghai. As you know it was made for the Chinese market. I understand it was charted for a series of 3-4

Day cruises. I am guessing but probably didn’t want western tv but casino and shopping. I am guessing again it will be back to normal in Australia eventually.

  6. English is the Lingua Franca of Airlines and air traffic controllers, so it makes sense it would be the same for shipping.

Concur. Even Russian and Chinese Captain and Navigator communicate with ground control in English. They probably talk to each other in native language, I assume...haven’t been there to actually hear. Mike

  7. In reference to above about the taxi shortage the destination expert warned not to rely on taxis at that Queens terminal. There actually is a whole thread on that. In your situation (relatively early flight) she and other recommended to rent a car service which I noticed a number did. If you didn’t do this in advance after some research on CC an expensive phone call to reserve. The bus transfer was about about an hour late. I had a flight at 222pm and made it with a couple of hours to spare. Various strategies are discussed on the other thread. Mike

  8. As the thread in #2 I saw with my own eyes today and previously heard this from the destination expert who in my opinion never tried to sell Princess excursions. As a matter of fact she spent most of her time on places where Princess had no excursions. I never thought she was trying to sell anything. I never physically attended any but rather watched all on TV so I didn’t hear every question. I never had the impression she was trying to “sell” anything but was very objective but obviously contained personal opinion as would anyone talking about a destination. Mike

  9. A few cruises ago I was at the customer service counter and the man in front of me said he received a note to contact them since all her clothes had been ruined. He asked to see them and they said he couldn’t since they had already been throw out. I took that as a lesson to send out only inexpensive items and not everything at once They wanted him to claim it on his insurance and he rightly said they should claim it on theirs. That’s when I left but I learned a good lesson. Only inexpensive things like socks and underwear and not all at once. Mike

  10. I just came in by bus transfer

There was a substantial line of people but no taxies. And I saw none headed that direction. I would say it is not in a taxi friendly location

That was one point in time; others may have other experiences

  11. Concur. As I mentioned I am always assisted aboard by one or two. I have no mobility issues. I have frequently heard them ask people with those issues not to attempt tendering due to danger. I have been on more than 35 cruises and seen Canes and half walkers but never wheelchairs or scotters

  12. I thought about your picture, and the cabins I have had with the Samsung TVs.

(at least on royal, they have a mixture of samsung and viewsonic)

I'm pretty sure that white box was behind the right side of the TV, and the HDMI

connections were behind the left side.

On my tv it was behind the left side. I am not tech inclined but would need a crowbar to get to HDMI or an extra long special instrument. You might ask a tech on the ship but would guess it was fixed like this to prevent tinkering with backspace. Mike
