  1. I did receive a $100 credit on Regal TA when I called but others on the same cruise reported it was refused them. I called and asked early and had booked early. My thought was that if you booked after it became clear mostly no ***** then no credit. I did not book because of ***** but was happy to be given the credit. You did not receive the credit if you didn’t ask. Mike

  2. First, it's only on the Royal and Regal..an "inhouse" TV studio, where the Morning Show is done, usually taped for a later showing on your TV. Most game's are played in there too, then shown later on your TV. Most time's though it stands empty.

If you are on the Promenade deck in the Piazza, go aft past the Captains Circle desk and the Future cruise consultant, there is a small bar then the entrance to the studio. There are lounge chairs all along the windows in that area

It was really meant to simulate and be a TV studio. Mike

  3. I can’t remember the Princess ship but about 5 years ago I was sitting by the pool in the sun and a middle aged lady was next to me crying. I asked her what was wrong and she said her husband was sick in their stateroom dying of lung cancer. They had decided on their cruise before he died. I asked her if she was aware there was a medical center and doctors on board. She said no she didn’t know that, thanked me, and immediately left to get the doctor to see her husband. She was so relieved. I say this not to be bleak but people cruise for all kinds of reasons. If she would’ve asked me in advance I would’ve probably told her that a cruise was not a good idea for somebody that was dying. Unfortunately I did not see the woman again and do not know how the story ended. Just a reminder that people cruise for all kinds of reasons. Some are happy; some sad. Some have cruised 50 times and for others the cruise they are on is their first. Some are sick, some are dying, and some of us are healthy! The point to this thread should there be an easy way for the sick and dying to get on.....how do we know. If the authorities knew how sick the gentleman was they probably would not let him board. 4. As I recall without looking it up if one buys it all must buy it. As a solo I did cancel “for any reason.” Had the insurance with automatic elite and others buy up. I was naive enough to think they could just transfer the amount to another cruise I had booked but not possible. A raft of papers had to be filled out....first medical....as expected they after a few week said I was not covered and then “papers for any reason.” I was covered but apparently two different companies are involved and the “cancel for any reason”company wanted to make sure medical wouldn’t pay. In any case after about a month the amount which was substantial was transferred to my account. I had another cruise booked and called and it was applied to that one less insurance costs. Other details are hazy but it was not nearly as easy as I had assumed. I am a frequent Princess traveler and always have two or three booked at once so the time element was not a factor for me. 5. On a cruise returning to Southampton a few years ago we awoke to an announcement that the ship due to wind and weather conditions was going to tie up at a pier Princess had never used before. It did not have their luggage off loading equipment and apparently weren’t expecting us there. The Captain announced that the luggage would have to be off loaded by hand and because no officials or transportation present the entire disembarking process would be delayed a few hours. This was about 630. First passengers carrying own luggage were allowed off (me) at about 815. I was in no particular rush since flight wasn’t until 1pm. When I got off(I think I was first) the weather was indeed horrible and Chaos reigned. I was directed to a bus for Heathrow which dropped us all at the wrong terminal. We tried to explain that our tickets were for another terminal but the driver said he had been instructed to go to that terminal. All ended well but I believe an extra ride on the tube was necessary to get to the other terminal. The moral of the story is it is possible for things to go wrong. I am sure you know this. 6. To the original poster I would say: research. The Baltic is far north and can be cool even in the Summer. It is not really for outdoor activity much of the time.

People tend to travel there on that short of a cruise because of the amazing ports and history. The spa is an independent operation; Princess rents them the space...I never go near it because of the outrageous prices. At home in the US I get a massage every couple of weeks by a professional for 1/3 the price...moreover it is part of their job to sell you more. You may have been much happier on a Caribbean Cruise on a Cardinal ship. Mike

  7. From the points accumulated on your card or Medallion. They are never the same for the next cruise. Don’t ask how many you need for something since most of the workers don’t know. The casinos are run by independent corporation. On an upcoming cruise I received a letter to email or call a certain number and let them know when my next cruise was coming. I spent very little And I got a email back telling me to pick up $300 at the casino cage on the first night of the cruise. I have picked up as much is $700 this way. Others that I know have been offered exactly nothing and others have been offered free cruises and the cash. I am sure there is a system but it is unknown and unknowable

  8. Reading this thread was a mistake; it's so full of negativity that I'm getting slightly worried for our upcoming cruise on the Regal. This will be only our second Princess cruise, our first was on the Diamond Princess nearly 8 years ago and yes, I realise things will have changed, but come on people, stop with the negativity.

    Give me something positive.

I have sailed on all the Royal class ships including 49 days maiden voyage of the Majestic and would rate them all A. Everyone has some minor dislikes but I read the thread as filled with “minor”. I have been on more than 3 dozen cruises on Princess alone plus other lines. Either I am easily pleased or just ignore very minor problems. I highly recommend all Princess ships. Each gives an unique experience and I always disembark with regret. Mike

  9. I can’t find at the moment but someone said hand sanitizer not used in buffet area or not provided. I have been told on several cruises that first use to wash hands for 20 seconds and then use hand sanitizer. The hand sanitizer has been found not very effective. Same as many hospitals are saying..,the sanitizer should be used only secondarily. Mike

  10. I forgot, we also got a tour of the bridge. I am not sure if that was for the milestone or for being in the top 3 most traveled.

I was referring to top 3 most traveled not the 30 or 40 most traveled. Sorry if unclear. Mike
