  1. We are also on a Southampton to Reykjavik cruise in July and got our flight information last week. All 4 rooms are booked on the same flights. We were expecting worse. We fly from San Jose, CA with a layover of just over an hour in Denver then on to Heathrow on United. From Reykjavik we fly Icelandair to Seattle with a 3 hour layover, then on to San Jose. Arrival isn't until 11 pm so we will need a hotel that night but we are all together and the flights are as good or better than expected and the savings was great. Only our second time using NCL air but the first time was over 10 years ago and we will at least consider this in the future.
  2. Ours was going to be 125% more not 25%. Couldn't find anything less than double. We have two inexperienced single women traveling with us and the parents of one of the women. They had to take the great single price along with the single price for air with a 1 day deviation. We took our chances and just received our flights. They are great and we could only have done marginally better for double the cost. We probably got lucky but all 4 staterooms got on the same flights from San Jose, CA to Heathrow and then home from Reykjavik. Everyone has to access their own comfort level and price constraints.
  3. We sail from Southampton on July 16 and got our flight information 3 days ago. Hope yours comes soon.
  4. Just got our flight info and we are in the same situation. Could you share the company you found?
  5. Following your adventures. We are booked for 2024 and hope you all let us know how the NCL excursions (or private ones) work out. Thanks
  6. Did you enjoy the train ride around Nice? We have already seen Monaco and wanted a short excursion and this might be perfect for our needs. How was the view from the bus on the way to Nice? Could you see the ocean or on an inland road? Thanks for any information.
  7. We had them booked for 4 tours on a cruise which was cancelled because of the pandemic. Our entire roll call was involved and looking forward to our trip. They were great about returning our money or deposits. We also had Spain Day Tours booked in 3 ports for that cancelled cruise. We were told they were "sister" companies but I don't have proof of that. With that said we were on Celebrity Apex last September and used Spain Day Tours in 3 ports. 2 of the 3 tours were wonderful with great drivers and/or guides. The only port that was not great was the guide from LaCoruna to Santiago de Compostela. She was a college student who talked too fast, left all of us in the dust and went to a bakery and never came back. Spain Day Tours gave me a voucher for the poor experience which I plan to use next year. We had great guides in Oporto and Cartagena We used private guides or ship's excursions in the rest. That is our experience with both companies. Hope it helps.
  8. I am on the Prima in July and I just looked and it says tender only for Geiranger. I am always prepared to be tendered in different parts of the world. Isafjordur is listed as dock not tender but it could probably change.
  9. Is NCL allowing the 2 day deviation again? Our TA told us that it was not being offered. Our friends used NCL air in September to fly to Copenhagen and the 2 day deviation was not honored and their flight was booked to arrive at 11:30 am on cruise day. They had to have NCL rebook and it cost $670 pp to arrive 2 days early. What did you have to do to get the 2 day deviation?
  10. We got off a b2b on the Jewel 2 weeks ago. Capacity was 1600 according to the crew we asked. Main dining room was great. They were using all of the window area tables and the center was empty. We stayed at Pan Pacific and bell services took our bags to the ship which was great. We had a separate entrance from the hotel to the ship's check in. We were early and had to wait in seats in a large hall for the ship to be ready to receive us. We were on board by 11. On side note our friends boarded in Vancouver while we were traveling and it took them 3+ hours for check in because there were 4 ships in Port. The Jewel leaves on Mondays so only 2 ships were there. Turnaround in Seward was easy except.our new key card didn't show that we had completed the safety video and they made us go back to guest services to get cleared with a new key card. Then back to the muster station. Crew was great and the entertainment was outstanding! Have them get a seat in the Spinnaker on Glacier days early. It gets crowded especially if it is bad weather outside. I am sure they will love the Jewel.
  11. Our friends are joining us in Copenhagen and requested 2 days early and when they just received their flights they were arriving at 11:30 am the day of the cruise. After much communication between our TA and NCL they were able to change the flights...for a cost of $670 each! Oh well. At least we know never us use NCL air for our trip next summer. Nobody can explain how the 2 day deviation was canceled.
  12. 30 days and they had us coming into Copenhagen at 11:30 a.m. for a 4 pm departure. We had to pay $670 each to change our incoming flights. Never using NCL air again. We were supposed to get 2 day early deviation but they canceled that without telling us. What a mess!
  13. We were just on the Jewel on a b2b and went to Skagway both weeks. The dock is closed but we were put at the Ore Dock both weeks. The first week a Carnival ship was tendering from near the rock slide dock and the return week there were only 2 ships there. We had a wonderful trip with Chinook Tours up to the Yukon Territory. It went to Emerald Lake, Carcross Desert and a wonderful lunch at the place that trains the puppies for dog sledding. It was a great day. The 2nd week we took the street car tour and then walked around town and had drinks at the Red Onion Saloon. Lots of people were riding the train even though it only went to the border. Have fun planning.
  14. We just booked 4 staterooms for 2023 and the website listed the Travel with Guarantee under their terms and conditions. When our TA tried to get confirmation of that, she was told that they had discontinued the program. I told her to go ahead with the half price air for the booking but am sure I will cancel that part before final payment. We have two singles going with us that have their own solo rooms and one has never cruised or traveled overseas. There is no way I am going to not be on the same flights as they are. By the way the terms and conditions still have the Travel with Guarantee as of the other day. I made a copy of it after we booked. NCL has a right to change the terms and conditions but they should update their website.
  15. Thanks for up to date information. I am concerned that my Certificate of Recovery won't be accepted or otherwise keep us off of our cruises.
  16. In the U.S., Canada or Bermuda or in Europe? Just checking on what you read. We are on Apex in September and it still shows tests needed. I trust whatever you have read! Love your reviews from a fellow Californian.
  17. We are going B2B on the Jewel in August. We recently had covid proven with a PCR test and quarantined at home and are now recovered. Having a hard time finding someone to write a Certificate of Recovery. Our personal doctors don't have any appointments until October. The county test center that performed our test won't give us one and neither will the ER that my DH went to. We may have to go online and find a telemed doctor to submit tests to. We plan to test in Vancouver and hopefully will be negative. If not we will use our COR. My question is what happens after the first part of the b2b before we continue with our 2nd cruise? We have been on 4 b2b cruises on NCL but all were before covid. If we use our COR will we need testing in Seward? Does NCL test at the end of the first part of the cruise for those continuing? If anyone has been on a b2b from Vancouver to Seward and back what was your experience? Thanks for any advice from those who have done this b2b.
  18. We are booked for our tour in August after two cancellations. They are a wonderful company to work with and have been very accommodating in changing our reservations. Can't wait for August!
  19. Thank so much for the information. With the $50 shore excursion credit and platinum discount the cost for transportation wasn't that much. Did you enjoy the hop on? Why didn't you take it back to near your tender point? Just trying to decide what to do. Thanks
  20. How was the hop on hop off bus in Edinburgh? From your comment about a taxi I think that you did it all on your own. We have booked the "On your Own" for transportation and then get the hop on when we get there. Any suggestions will be appreciated. We will be there on the Star in September
  21. Yes they do! Or at least I hope they do! We have linked reservations for 4 cabins paid for by different people who live in different cities. Maybe I had better check with my travel agent to make sure.
  22. I wish people would stop saying covid tests are 100% free at Walgreens and CVS. We live in California and there are no tests at either of these pharmacies within 150 miles. PCR tests only with results in 3-5 days.
