  1. If the Blue Jays win the wildcard series lets compare the prices in the various cities. Never underestimate the willingness of Toronto and Canadian sports fans (Lots of folks will be flying in to Toronto from all across Canada for a World Series game) to be totally 'hosed' by our sports teams. 😉
  2. I love the Love and Marriage show just as much as I love watching NASCAR. They both go round and round, and round and round. And you know the Big One is right around the corner. 💥
  3. Hi Jimbo, I was looking at the prices being charged by the Blue Jays, not the resellers. Those prices are even wilder.
  4. I checked the prices too. Wow, who do the Blue Jays think they are charging that much? The Leafs? 😉 I'm sure there will be an uptick in 'sickness' cases this Friday. Along with ' my car broken down', 'I had to take my Grandma to the hospital', and 'my bus never showed up' cases too. We were are last Sunday's afternoon game and they had the roof closed for some reason. Sunday was a beautiful day in Toronto. The place is just not the same with the roof closed. We're Canadian for heaven's sake, 50 degrees F is shorts and t-shirt weather for us. 🩳 👕
  5. In addition to security concerns the costs of a nuclear powered Cruise ship would likely be prohibitive vs a traditionally powered ship if those costs are anything like an aircraft carrier. As per https://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/report/gao/nsiad98001/c3.htm#:~:text=We estimate a nuclear carrier's,needed for the conventional carrier. "A nuclear-powered carrier costs about $8.1 billion, or about 58 percent, more than a conventionally powered carrier to acquire, operate and support for 50 years, and then to inactivate. The investment cost for a nuclear-powered carrier is more than $6.4 billion, which we estimate is more than double that for a conventionally powered carrier. Annually, the costs to operate and support a nuclear carrier are almost 34 percent higher than those to operate and support a conventional carrier. In addition, it will cost the Navy considerably more to inactivate and dispose of a nuclear carrier (CVN) than a conventional carrier (CV) primarily because the extensive work necessary to remove spent nuclear fuel from the reactor plant and remove and dispose of the radiologically contaminated reactor plant and other system components." Cruise ship building and operating are commercial ventures. In the end it always boils down to economics.
  6. Just to keep you up to date, the Jays lost the first game today vs. Baltimore. Second game starts at 4pm. Are you back for the wildcard games this weekend at the Roger's Centre? And how the heck could MLB schedule Friday's game at 4pm, right in the middle of my last class for the week. 🤬 I guess I'll have to give the students some work to do in class while I watch the game on my laptop. Much better than me lecturing to them for 3 hours. 😉
  7. There is a East Coast Canada/New England Forum on CC in Ports of Call that might have some useful information. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/9-canadanew-england/ Al least you are venturing north only to Nova Scotia. Newfoundland can be very frigid in late May. Too cold for swimming but a great time to see the icebergs!
  8. If you feel strongly enough you can put together a shareholder proposal to do exactly this to be voted on by your fellow shareholders at the next annual meeting.
  9. Life is just gambling. Each and every day right from conception until death. We just try to tilt the odds in our favour and 'roll the dice"! 🎲 🎲
  10. We have used the valet service at Pearson a couple of times. Nothing better than dropping the car off right in front of the terminal and then having a nice warm car waiting for you to quickly jump into upon arrival. If anyone does use valet parking at the airport, you might be tempted to wear shorts on the flight back because of that nice toasty car waiting for you just steps from the airport door, but just make sure you have arranged for someone to shovel your driveway the before you get home. Shoveling the snow just to get into your driveway while wearing shorts is not advisable - trust me. 🥶
  11. Yes, there are many strategies that you can employ if you want to invest/speculate that a stock, or market or a commodity etc. will decline in price. Some people think shorting is speculation and going long is investment. Quite frankly, it depends on the person's level of knowledge about the investment and about it's risks that makes either going short or going long an investment or just a speculation. In my experience, most retail 'investors' who naturally go long, are in fact just speculators. (Psst, some professionals too!) 😉
  12. I said earlier that I wear a mask as my gift to mankind BUT I never will defile my hairless chrome dome with one of those straps! In all modesty, my dome is GQ++ quality. Maybe not the eighth wonder of the world but definitely in the top ten! 😉 So wearing one of those things would be like making Harry Styles or George Clooney wear a face covering all the time. 😁 And of course, not wearing my hearing aids in class saves me from hearing some of the clueless nonsense uttered by some of my 20 year oldish students on the very rare occasions that that happens. 😉 😉 🥳
